I'm just glad the highest rated AFC Championship ever with 57.4 million viewers got to witness the scumbag NFL refs at their finest.  Nothing will change until viewership just goes south and that is what sucks badly.  I really do not understand how NFL owners do not force the league to fix the utter BS?

I would never watch another game years ago if JA17 never happened.

Well you kind of answered your own question.  That was the highest rated AFCCG ever.  The owners have no incentive to fix anything.

A lot of people have threatened to boycot the superbowl.  I know I plan on skipping for the first time in 30 years, and I'm sure there are some other bills fans that will do the same, but I can't imagine there being  a serious super bowl exodus.  I guess we will find out soon enough ....

If viewership continues to break records don't expect any less "massaging" by the refs next year. If anything, they'll be emboldened to take it one step further,  knowing fans will continue to watch regardless.

3 days removed and the one thing I have noticed is the unprecedented level of criticism for the officials in that game. The amount of FB and X videos on all the bad calls is the most I have ever seen for any NFL game ever. The fact that so much of it is coming from non Bills fans is pretty telling as well. It wont help us this year but maybe the NFL finally does something about this garbage next year? Properly measuring where the ball is at all times on a spot. Some logic on determining a catch? A coaches challenge on bad penalties? Yes its pretty wishful thinking but the amount of disgust the NFL is getting right now must be creating some pressure in the league office?

Speaking of the Bishop INT. How does an official determine a tie catch when one player (Bishop) has arms and two hands around the ball and the other (Worthy) just has one hand? Unlike the Jefferson catch from the Minni game where Cam Lewis assists Jefferson to catch it, Bishop actually has possession all the way to the ground with 2 hands.

It also hit the ground as the possession was changing lol. That was a criminally bad call / uphold on review.  My takeaway from that game is a tossup call that would stand in review either way will pretty much always go the chiefs way which makes it impossible to beat them.

there was no reason to spot that sneak short on the field but obviously they’re not gonna overturn it because despite the above view showing him getting it by a decent amount they do the whole ‘well the camera wasn’t perfectly right above the play so we’re only 90% sure he got it which isn’t conclusive’

I still am sick about this game.

Thats another question I had. What is the point of a sky cam especially on a play like the 4th down, if its not directly overhead? Only the NFL could f that up. On that play the Sky Cam looks about 5 yards or more behind the LOS.

Yea it’s stupid…it was pretty clear he got it but reviews on ball spots pretty much never get overturned when they are ‘they broke the plane somewhere not on the goal line but not by much’ type plays.  So just a little bit of chiefs favoritism with back to back spots swung this whole game massively win percentage wise.  You just have to get completely lucky and have no borderline plays in big moments against them

also in classic chiefs dumb luck fashion (or maybe intentional who knows) Chris jones’ fat head is in the way of the sideline view that clearly would’ve shown Josh picking it up

I’ve been watching football since 1986. Sure as hell looks like a first down to me bro. And yes I have glasses lol.
Having said that we had a chance to win the game with three timeouts and three minutes left it’s the perfect scenario to just run the clock out and score the game-winning touchdown and we did not do it.

I've been watching since 1975. They stopped Josh. But on third down Kincaid broke the line before knee down. Anyway... many points in the game we should have/could have won. Their D really came to play. Cheers.

Same.  Sucks being stuck in the middle of the Chiefs Dynasty.  Buffalo is as close as ever.  Need to build on the aspects of the team that got them to this point.  The run game on offense and versatility on defense.  Improve on their weaknesses.  Outside explosiveness on offense.  Interior dline play, and secondary athleticism on defense.

It’s crazy cuz all the games not involving the chiefs had lower than usual viewership so they really are just gonna keep leaning their way

this replay is assaulting me on every social media platform I go on haha There’s no shot he didn’t break the plane there, if the whole football had to get over they probably stopped that though.  The way he was holding the football makes it pretty much impossible for him not to have broken the plane…they would’ve had to drive him back instantly or kept him from tipping forward with his upper body a bit which didn’t happen.

I wouldn’t have been as bothered if the far side judges spot wasn’t pretty much perfect lol if they both ran in short it’s a little easier to stomach but the guy with 0 view of the ball somehow won the debate 😂

the Kincaid spot was way more obviously blown for sure though

So for what its worth I started this thread yesterday morning and technically we're on day 3.

Can't tell you if it is better or worse for me; it's probably about the same...

There's a plethora of things that factored into us losing this game, but considering we always knew a Bills-Chiefs game was going down to the wire, the MAIN THING that sticks in my head is the 4th and 5 drop by Kincaid.

And the irony of that after Mark Andrews happened all week is just so Billsy.  Only the Bills could match something like that, the very next week, on a bigger stage, right?

So, from all of complexity of everything going through my mind yesterday, it's all sorted out and "simplified" down to 2 things that are still bothering me quite a bit:

1.   Extreme frustration over Kincaid drop.

2.  Sadness over what "could have been".  In other words, sadness over thinking about how awesome all of us would be feeling this week, the positive narratives that would be going around, being the only team to take down the Chiefs (twice) and ending their bid at the 3-peat, our team being featured in SB media week.   I mean, there it is, right?  Just writing that out makes me feel incredibly sad.  Why isn't our team allowed to have that ONE moment?   And that's when I go back to Kincaid again.

That's where I'm at.... and that's where I might be for a while....  when it is all said and done, it always ends up coming down to 1 "if only _______"

- 2021 season:   "If only we squib kicked!"

- 2023 season:  "If only Allen saw Diggs running wide open on 2nd and 9 from the KC 20ish after the 2 minute warning"

- 2024 season:  "If only Kincaid caught the dang ball......................."

And I gotta tell you, the first two of those, I still think about them every now and then, so I'm sure this one will be no different; I'll never be fully over it, and it will stay that way until the day we beat KC in the playoffs...

Well, I take the silence today as an indicator that many of us have mostly processed the loss and feeling better than yesterday, for the most part.

As we are midway through the day I can say things have calmed down for me as well, but as I mentioned in my previous post, I know I’ll have 2 lasting memories from this game in the forms of “if only ___” and those will stick with me until the day Buffalo beats KC in a playoff game.

I think the team needs some kind of change. Either you let Beane go and see if someone else can bring in better talent, or you let McD go so you can hopefully find a guy that can get more out of the players getting drafted. Something gotta change though. They are treading water and I have been saying that for a couple years. Or you keep both and McD is forced to change system on D. We’ve had 3 different DCs and got the same soft play with all of them. It’s McDs and he’s the HC so that makes the situation a bit harder.

Feel better.  Nothing I can do about it, except move on…

Although, whenever I see video of Josh after the game, or especially the deep breath at the podium I am saddened.

Off-season thinking kicking in. Draft, FA’s on the open market, our own FA’s.  Have done some reflection on the season and what went wrong, mostly through threads on TBD.

I want a top offensive coach like a Sean Payton with Allen as he enters his prime. That's the best equation to win multiple Superbowls imo

It's not going to happen with McDermott

Well Payton won one Super Bowl so no guarantee they win multiple ones with him.
