As far as the "refs are human and make mistakes" argument, my counter to that would be...  yes they do make mistakes, but why is it that NONE of these flags thrown in critical moments of the games have gone AGAINST KC!?  They have ALL been to their benefit.  

 

Look at any other team in the NFL and the bad calls go both ways.  You want me to believe that it's pure coincidence that KC is the only team this doesn't happen to?  

 

That's just not true. 

 

Last postseason, KC was the only team to have a TD erased by penalty and it happened twice. In the last two playoff runs, they've had 4 TDs erased and two turnovers negated. All in huge moments of close games. Their opponents had zero of either.

As far as football goes, still very upset and depressed. My view on sports was lifted up a bit after being in attendance when Arizona beat Iowa State after Caleb Love hit a 55 footer to take the game into overtime. Sports is a powerful drug and it has a way of sucking you back in no matter how bad the disappointments.

Part that gets me most:  the ref that had a clear view of the ball on the 4th down stop had it as a 1st down.  The ref that had a clear view of Josh’s BACK called it short.  Yet somehow- the ref that couldn’t see the ball AT ALL is the one whos opinion stands- while the other ref just stands there-

KC runs a play after the “catch” and they lose yards-  no whistle on the play-  yet they negate the play and give us a challenge.  Ever see that before?

what’s the rule regarding the 2:00 warning and why were they allowed to let it hit 0.  Does the game clock not have 0.0? Only the play clock?

 

it’s just impossible to ignore that those referee decisions hurt our chances to win the game.  They aren’t the reason we lost-  there is never one reason a team loses a game imo, just a compilation of factors. 

 

Also add the several missed hip drop tackles, should be a textbook call since a couple were egregious.  I think in general the refs make me angry by their overall smugness.  Other than this travesty of a game the head ref walking over to Allen on the bench (I forget which game) and scolds Allen and the Commanders game where they specifically say they can award points to the Eagles.  When was that ever something they could do and even if they could why do they feel they need to say it.  Totally unnecessary especially with the game pretty much done.  My observation is that this is the new NFL since Goodell took over.  The Patriots dynasty even with all the cheating, the tuck rule, the Steelers-Seahawks super bowl, the no playoffs losses since Taylor Swift has been dating Kelce for the Chiefs.  It is calculated and purposefully decided before hand.  Heck they had a Chiefs commercial about them going to the super bowl with a couple of minutes left in the game.  Missed calls happen all the time and certainly refs aren't perfect but when you review a catch that showed without a shadow of a doubt that the Chiefs player at no time had possession of a ball that was loose when it hit the ground.  They didn't mess up that call they flat out show who they want to win.  My wife asked me on the last drive if I think if Kincaid caught the ball on the last play for the Bills if the they would have still lost and I said they would have called something.  I have no clue what the last flag was about but obviously wasn't in the Bills favor, what would they have called?

This is definitely a grief response.  The totality of the season shows we have the right crew.  The Chiefs essentially 15-1 in regular season and 2-0 in the postseason.  They are 1-1 against the Bills.  The Bills have had a few tough moments this year but imagine us people calling for Levy's head during the super bowl era?

I'm just glad the highest rated AFC Championship ever with 57.4 million viewers got to witness the scumbag NFL refs at their finest.  Nothing will change until viewership just goes south and that is what sucks badly.  I really do not understand how NFL owners do not force the league to fix the utter BS?

But that's the season done for me. The superbowl can get bent. Too many 3.30am finishes this season on school nights.

I feel like having had the ball at the end and coming up short makes the problem more fixable. If the 2nd half had looked like the first I'd feel worse. 

 

What I do feel bad about is the Superbowl. I will watch but ugh.... can't ever remember looking forward to one less. A Chief threepeat or the ***** despisable Eagles. I'll cheer for the refs.

Fitzrovia Belle. No, I never have. Wasn't aware it was a Bills bar. I know the pub. I went in there and got hammered one afternoon after I'd screwed and interview up a couple of blocks away haha.

I've been there once.

 

It's good. Can get a little bit crowded and I ended up drinking far too much. But it delivers on the 'Bills bar' promise. I tended to go to 'less organised' half of the bar as I'm not an instinctive pack-animal.

 

Quite a few Buffalo natives there too - people on holiday etc. Enjoyed drinking with them. I learned that Trump was very popular and Tyler Bass doesn't tip well in restaurants.

Worse - I am total gloom and doom. We have Dan Marino at QB. Never gonna make a Super Bowl, never gonna win it despite Hall of Fame level play at QB.

On the topic of this thread, I have two main feelings by now:

 

1) still angry and disappointed we didn't win that game. We were inches away, dammit.

 

2) looking forward to seeing us win the Super Bowl, which I believe will happen in the next 2-3 seasons.

I want a top offensive coach like a Sean Payton with Allen as he enters his prime. That's the best equation to win multiple Superbowls imo

Remember that people all want to watch the team they love, but only two of those fanbases get to see their team in the SB. The next most effective thing that gets people watching is hating a team. 30 fanbases can hate watch the Brady-Belichick Patriots or Mahomes-Reid Chiefs.

 

I think the NFL would’ve been happy with the Bills being in the SB too though. There would have been a lot of people tuning in to root for us too. Also it’s the SB. That all holds true for playoff games much more than the SB. People make that an event regardless of which teams make it.

I feel better. Hopefully, the FO and McDermott are put on notice that they need to be playing for the Lombardi next season. Otherwise, they should be done.

 

Bills need to trim the fat to pay the right guys to extensions and open up space to upgrade/replace the DE/DT/WR/CB spots.

 

Brady was good but predictable in playoffs.  Not sure if there is a DC upgrade over Babich, but some philosophical tweaks and 3rd down big stops are necessary. That's on McDermott also.
