Not with this coaching staff.

It's ridiculous to suggest we can't get over the hump with this coaching staff. Last year in a game where half our defense was out or playing hurt, we lost by 3 points in a game that ended with the offense failing to execute on the final drive.

This year, with a roster much less talented than the Chiefs, we again lost by 3 points in a game that ended with the offense failing to execute on the final drive.

We are close because of the QB.

Less anguished and more exhausted at this point.  It's sort of like making it to the South Col (Camp IV) of Everest for 5 straight years and getting turned back by weather or altitude sickness a few hundred meters from the summit.

Is three points insignificant? Technically it was 4 if you wanted to win the game.

To win the Super Bowl and to beat KC for the right to get there, you need to play almost perfectly. We might be closer to not being a playoff team than we are to being perfect. We're near the top where every player, every edge, every decision, every play matters a ton and being able to squeeze every last ounce of efficiency is what determines who is the champion. We lose sight of just how dominant KC is because we've been "close". The fact that they've now knocked us out 4 straight times should tell you that we aren't really close at all. The outcome was never in doubt for them, because they knew they would be perfect when they had to be and we couldn't match them in those moments.

We need significant changes in philosophy, execution, strategy, tactics, and personnel to close the gap, because getting those extra 4 points on a team already playing at the top of the league is no small feat.

Don't feel better. This is 58 years of having my heart torn out. Following the Bills is borderline unhealthy from a mental wellness standpoint. Continuing to watch bad coaches destroy good players.  Why was Cook not part of that last drive?  Why did Brady telegraph 6 failed tush pushes?  When will our spiritual leader of "the church of process & culture" ever build a defense?  And Terry will just stand there and let all this continue. Sorry @Augie, not even the Serenity Prayer works.  I'm too old for this Shi#.....

I’m still very angry at the league.

I rarely blame a play or a call. I’m a big proponent of their being more opportunities to right wrongs in the game.

But Christ. I feel so robbed still.

And a week after the nation openly criticized the leagues treatment of the Chiefs? Just to do it again the week after?

Don’t get me wrong, it still stings. Badly.  But it’s like a pet that died, I’ll look back on the good parts of the season and try to remember that feeling. Remember our bright spots.  I was entertained this year, right up until the end.

It sucks, but the football cycle will continue…….and we will probably feel this way again next year this time. 😂

I honestly believe, at this point, that the NFL has it's finger on the outcomes of games.  Not in the sense that they script or determine who wins, but as Bill Burr put it on Rich Eisen's show "they massage the games a certain way".

I don't like feeling that this is the league I follow, that the team I most passionately support plays in.

I think most of the NFL fanbase seems to feel this way.

And I can come to terms with the Bills not breaking through.  We've certainly had practice at that.  I can't come to terms with how I now feel about the NFL.

Well if the NFL wants to steer the Chiefs toward a SB every year, they can enjoy the drop in ratings.  It won't be compelling watching Kermit every February. And besides,  does a team that great and well coached really need the extra push?  The NFL has become a choreographed entertainment show.

I'm getting over it, but disappointed still due to just how close we were, yet we ended so far away.  I really think we need to find a way to get the 1 seed.  Can you lose at home? Sure, but since 2019 the Chiefs are 13-0 in AFC playoffs, and 11 of those were at home.  In that same span the Bills are 7-6 with all 7 wins at home (along with 2 losses).  We're 0-4 on the road.

KC had the #1 seed 5 of those 6 years meaning they get a bye to rest up then play the weakest seed team at home, then bingo they are back in the AFC championship game at home.  With two teams as closely matched as the Chiefs and the Bills that makes for a huge advantage, especially over time.

I can’t say I like the single bye per conference. It is an enormous advantage.

Yeah but the problem is the pet never dies. It's like "Pet Cemetery".  It just gets reanimated every year just to die again.  This is the Bills experience. I can't enjoy regular season fun if I already know heartbreak is guaranteed at the end.

Can we work in  “Groundhogs Day” too?

I’m cool, a little frustrated that after eight years of the defense failing in the clutch, McDermott and Beane will run back with the same soft zone defense and not go for a fast tall WR…, again…,

But as Pink Floyd said,  “ desperation is the English way” …,

GO BILLS!!!

its not ridiculous. One could argue that the Chiefs did just enough to beat us. I personally believe that no matter how many points we scored, they wouldve  score more than us, even it is by 1,2 or 3 points.

This coaching staff has proven that they cannot beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. How many more years do you want to continue to say the same thing after we lose to them. Its always gonna be some excuse. Healthy players, Refs, Weather, etc...

Meh.  It seems the NFL will meddle just enough to tilt the odds in the way they want.  It's hard to just ignore what happened and claim our coaching sucks and we are wasting Josh's career.  The emotional over reactions to everything on here is why I do not participate in any social media.

Couldn't have been 5 of 6 years, could it?

"13 seconds" was the 2021 season's playoffs.  The Bills and Chiefs both played on Wild Card weekend that year.  We annihilated the Pats.  They annihilated the Steelers.

And then of course last season, they played AT Buffalo, so obviously not the 1 seed.

So, they couldn't have been the 1 seed at least twice.

We've had 4 shots at KC in the playoffs and we're currently sitting at 0-4.  It's unprecedented as we know, no team has been eliminated by the same team in a 5 year span more than we have been eliminated by KC.

And the sickening part is that both of these records are the types that no team and/or player would want to be associated with and yet some how, some way, both are now associated with our Buffalo Bills.   Wow.   You just can't make it up.

At 29 years old, Josh Allen already has the most playoff wins without a SB appearance in NFL history (7).  Unless something changes, I am positive this record will be untouchable by the time he retires from the league.  Put it this way, he only has 2 less playoff wins than Jim Kelly and Donovan McNabb (9 each) who have the records for most playoff wins without a Super Bowl victory.

The "good news" (I guess?) is that unlike Jim Kelly, we will almost certainly get a 5th chance (at KC).  True, beating KC is not technically winning the Super Bowl, but at this point, to me and probably some other fans, it would sure feel like winning the Super Bowl, and maybe even better, given the history.  That's the thing about all these losses, right?  The more we accumulate, the better the first win will feel.  Only question is:  Will it ever happen?

At this point, if we finally defeat KC in ANY round of the playoffs, I am okay with whatever happens after that. That would be my happiest moment as a Bills fan, hands down.

The image of stupid ass Kermit running across the field like a dip ***** after they beat us in the playoffs every single year is what gets my blood boiling most of all.

While they push for repeats and 3-peats, all I've ever wanted is to beat them ONE TIME and be able to experience the pure JOY that comes with it.  It feels like we are prohibited from experiencing ultimate success as Bills fans.  The heartbreak is just exhausting man.  It was already exhausting last year and now it's just absolutely ridiculous.  It was a fantasy to imagine our Bills being featured in the spotlight and featured in interviews, etc. in the week leading up to the Super Bowl, but you know the funny thing about it?  It never felt realistic to me, because that's how traumatized many of us have become as Bills fans.  Beating KC has become unfathomable to many of us simply because it's what we want more than anything else, and Bills are just meant to suffer, I guess.

Then there's Xavier Worthy... Matt Araiza... we knew these things would happen as soon as they became Chiefs, right?  Many of us called it.  Why can't the "good guys" win... for once!   Why can't Mahomes experience defeat by someone other than Tom Brady and Joe Burrow... for ONCE!  This isn't just a Buffalo Bills problem; it's an entire NFL problem.  We just happen to encounter them the most because we're the second most consistent team in the NFL!  But during this "3-peat" span specifically, we have had 2 shots at KC, and the Eagles are now getting their 2nd shot at KC, so our teams are the most responsible for what is happening here (unless the Eagles pull it off).

I'll end on a more positive note, believe it or not.

I try to tell myself that during the 17-year playoff drought I was feeling a similar level of hopelessness.  Making the playoffs for our Bills seemed practically impossible.  Every year, it seemed like SO MUCH had to go RIGHT just to have a shot at making it!  And then it finally happened.  The impossible finally happened.  I gotta tell you, the joy I felt in that moment might have been greater than any playoff win that followed because it represented achieving the impossible, much like I feel towards KC at this point.

And KC isn't winning because their QB? That said think he has a better cast around him. Until we shore up our defense at avoiding points it's a tough go.

I’m over it. I would feel different if I thought we were the better team but we weren’t. We got beat straight up and Josh didn’t bring his A game like we needed him too

Im not over it yet, but you are correct. We got beat and had the chance(s) to win this game. The Refs screwed us a couple of times, but we still had the ball with enough time to go ahead and win, or at least tie the game.

We got mentally beat first and then physically. Now we have Bills fans hoping for luck to bounce our way in the form of Mahomes getting hurt, or losing weapons. The dude is just a year older than Josh and will be around for as long as Josh, so the answer isnt luck, or a hope that the dude gets hurt, its simply getting better at situational football and coaching, with the addition of adding quality 1st and second round draft picks, plus the better FA's when they are out there.

The Eagles arent in the SB this year if Roseman doesnt get Barkley. IMO, the Ravens arent as good as they were this year without the addition of Henry (even though they made to AFC Championship game last year.

Lets see what we do in FA this year with a little more cap room. I really hope that we hit on our first and second rounders this year, kinda of like how KC does it.
