Side note from the same article from above.... In comments section of that article it was mentioned how KC traded up ahead of Beane to draft McDuffie and then we ended up with Elam.  Our front office always getting bamboozled by KC

Brady "Dance with the one that brung you, even if it doesn't work keep trying ,even if it means running into a cement wall.

The analogy became a reality.

Brady continually ramming 17 forward for nil took on a cartoonish look similar to the failures of a Wile E. Coyote trap.

I think that’s a big problem with the “everybody eats” way of life the Bills played. Sometimes your best players aren’t on the field in key situations. Obviously it’s different plays and different situations dictate who’s out there but not sure how it really works. There is a big rotation though. There had been times where you just wonder why is that guy on the field, or why is a certain player not on the field once ya see the replay. Maybe that’s just me though. I’ll tell you this though, our O looked it’s best when Coleman and Kincaid were injured. Seemed like more players were getting involved and everything flowed much better. I think Coleman sucks though, and he was worse when he came back of injury. Thought Knox had his best stretch when Kincaid hurt and it was beneficial to the team. Ironically you could say the same about Kincaid last year when Knox was down.

In the end you want your best players on the field in crucial moments and we didn’t always see that this year. In big games like Sunday it probably be best to have those players on as much as possible.

Great post.

Whether Coleman sucks or not, drafting him is a great example of why not to trust many of the narratives put forth about draftees.

The narrative was that he's great in traffic and "contested throws." I went to great lengths to disprove that narrative back then.

At the end of the day it turned out to be false, and to boot, Coleman's catch% is horrific, worst on the team, his dropped ball % was higher than Gabe's average while he was here, and his hands were nowhere near what that narrative was.  He's a liability, not an asset.

Hopefully he'll improve.

Game was very winnable.  Just pathetic.  You had 5 years to come up with something.

We'll see, but if Philly beats them as I think they will, it will say even less for us.

I did not realize how successful he was in that game until I saw those statistics. Cook is easily the most explosive offensive player on that team. I’m actually giving him a second contract at this point without a doubt. He is a great back. This article is spot on. There’s a lot more you can do with a running back other than just hand it off to him.

So incredibly stupid not to use him on that last drive.  Not to mention all the failed tush push crap. Brady better improve next year because he was not impressive the 2nd half v Ravens and most of the KC game.

WOW Nailed that one with nothing but net !!! I was also wondering why they came out in the beginning of the game throwing it when it was said that one of the weaknesses of the Chiefs was stopping the run .

I believe even Nance and Romo had said something to that effect about Cook being on the sideline every one but Brady saw it and that was one of his money guys through out the season . Go figure .

Good post thanks !

Their coaches sit at the adult table. Ours sit at the kids table. Cook is undoubtedly our 2nd best offensive weapon. The most important drive of the Allen era and he's on the sideline?  Absolutely moronic

Still not bad for his first full season as an OC. He'll improve. He's 35.

And yes. Cook is a must. Surely.

we know he is a must, and don't call us shirley.

And one week earlier, the Bills took control of the game by running Ray Davis with Cook on the sideline.  I have a lot of problems with the game Brady called but just saying you need your best back on the field is a little bit simplistic and shaped by hindsight.

You’re claiming the Saints passed on Brady, rather than him dropping out?

guys looking for their first HC (especially with so little NFL coaching experience) rarely turn down their first HC offer

The fact that Cook didn’t get 20+ touches is very upsetting. He was our best offensive threat and it would have helped keep KC off the field.

despite being a top 5 back the last two years, I have never seen a more underrated good player on the Bills. He’s a stud.

It's almost as if prepping for Head Coach interviews with multiple other teams could be a distraction to an OC about to coach in the biggest game in his life... I hate that part of the NFL.

I hardly think the offense was the real problem during that game, but yeah, Brady could have been more creative.

The receiving core he's working with is one of most uninspired in the whole league though, I'm not sure how crafty you can get with guys who just can't win their matchups.

They should have used Cook more, that I agree with.

I agree Cook should have been on the field more on that final drive. Also in retrospect going for and missing the 2 point advantage after getting the extra point but us in a bad place. Toss in KC ability to stop our tush push, great plays them and of course questionable calls lead to us failing. Gotta wonder though why we have a FB on the roster when we  rarely use him. Not a knock on Gilliam but at this point to me he's a waste of a roster spot.

Brady got destroyed. That game plan was absolute ass, especially in the first half. I’ll never understand how we didn’t come out with 6 o lineman and start pounding the rock. I don’t care if they expected it, we drove it down the throats of both Denver and Ravens. We needed to come out and smack them in the mouth physically. Instead, we played their type of finesse game while our QB looked like he hit a mountain of coke pre game. Brilliant strategy. I’m disgusted
