No. Absolutely no. I love football and I watch CFL, UFL, and college ball.

But this sort of "consolation" game does not work at all - a bronze medal or a bag of poop.

I think the players wouldn't have their hearts in it just like the pro bowl & then you have the chance of star players getting hurt going into the off season and possibly effecting a player like Josh or Cook i'm thinkin no but that's just me .

I dont know how the players would have any interest in playing. You would have to give some type of really great reward to get them motivated then you would also have the risk of getting injured for third place.

Can you imagine playing in a consolation game and having your QB (or other elite, highly paid player) blow out their knee and be ruined for the following season? F that. A consolation game would just be a further penalty and pain for the losers of the conference championship games. I would have zero interest in watching it whether or not the Bills were in it.

How about this?

Winner gets the second overall pick in the draft.

Might motivate the coach and GM, but the players themselves?

It feels so empty to not have football after how far the Bills got. And I know the NFLPA would probably never go for the idea. But what if there was a consolation game the week before the Super Bowl for the two conference championship losing teams? They do it for the World Cup and the Olympics and other tournaments. Maybe it's too much to ask after pouring your heart into that final game. On the other hand, the chance to go out a winner is nice. Thoughts?

They did this a few times in the early 80's with the Final Four College Basketball Tournament. They had a "3rd Place" Game.

The games were ugly as the players did not seem that inspired to be playing in it, so thankfully they stopped having them.

A 3rd place game in the NFL would have the same feel. No thanks.

A million %. But as others have said, the players would have no motivation.

I think there was some game back in the day where a college all star team played against a regular nfl team. I’d watch the hell out of that.
