PromoTheRobot Posted yesterday at 02:40 AM Posted yesterday at 02:40 AM (edited) It feels so empty to not have football after how far the Bills got. And I know the NFLPA would probably never go for the idea. But what if there was a consolation game the week before the Super Bowl for the two conference championship losing teams? They do it for the World Cup and the Olympics and other tournaments. Maybe it's too much to ask after pouring your heart into that final game. On the other hand, the chance to go out a winner is nice. Thoughts? Edited yesterday at 02:41 AM by PromoTheRobot 3 1 Quote
letsgoteam Posted yesterday at 02:47 AM Posted yesterday at 02:47 AM I dont know how the players would have any interest in playing. You would have to give some type of really great reward to get them motivated then you would also have the risk of getting injured for third place. 2 1 1 Quote

LOL Actually I was bit surprised when I looked it up as thought it went back before 1960, but do recall the last few. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playoff_Bowl 2 2 Quote
TurfToeJam Posted yesterday at 02:54 AM Posted yesterday at 02:54 AM It would end up being a flag football game. No thanks 2 Quote

Players didn't want to be there. Some starters didn't play. I say not. 4 1 Quote

Well your not much younger than me, I was 11 in 1966. But it was strictly an NFL thing, I lived in NYC area so had Jets but also Giants. If you were in Buffalo area and only followed AFL can see why you missed it 22 minutes ago, reddogblitz said: I watched the last 2. They were dogs. Players didn't want to be there. You sure, no history of that. And was the league champ who played in it and Steelers never won championship prior to 1975 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Charities_College_All-Star_Game Quote
May Day 10 Posted yesterday at 03:35 AM Posted yesterday at 03:35 AM I would probably watch it if it were the bills, but I'm sure it would be a half hearted exhibition. 1 Quote

Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted yesterday at 03:41 AM Posted yesterday at 03:41 AM So the crazy part of the College All Star game was you had players who'd already been drafted by some NFL team, maybe even the team they are playing against in this game and they are playing for the All stars, then after this game, would report to their NFL team training camp. Can anyone imagine that today? Wow this is even crazier, Bills could play the Argonauts!! During most of its run, the College All-Star Game was not particularly unique, since NFL teams frequently played exhibition games against non-NFL competition in its early decades. However, by the 1970s, the NFL was withdrawing from competition against teams that were not members of the league. Following the end of preseason games against teams from the Eastern Conference of the Canadian Football League in 1961, the NFL played only three games against non-NFL teams 1 Quote
