I agree with you but these jobs don’t come along that often. One day you’re a head coaching candidate, next one you’re unemployed.

I think that was a timing thing. I also believe that McCarthy gets hate because of how he looks. I would be furious if I was cowboys fan (for a lot of reasons) if we fired MM and hired the ultimate nepo baby.

Yes/no if you make enough connections/relationships you end up with another job somewhere, look at Marrone as an example.

I know a guy who would be a perfect fit to right that ship.

Steve Spagnolo is a potentially the greatest Defensive Coordinator of all-time…while also being potentially the worst Head Coach of all-time.

His record is DISMAL.  4 years as HC… winning percentage of .212 (11-41)

I think “greatest defensive coordinator of all time” is between him and Belichick. Probably a distant gap to the third guy.

Agreed.  People want to put Vic Fangio right around the same class but I don’t think he’s close and you’ll see why at Super Bowl.

Seifert?  I mean the guy won 5 super bowls too.  And those niners defenses were pretty good for that stretch.

I don't see it personally.  I know he kind of pioneered the defense that appears to be the standard today.. the lack of true success caps the legacy imo.

Buddy ryan with the 46 won a super bowl.  Wade Phillips track record speaks for itself.  Dungy/kiffin and the tampa 2.  Dick Lebeau.  Dom Capers.  Jim Johnson.

At this point McDermotts starting to have a better resume than fangio.
