We can't get over the hump because of the Chiefs. Plain and simple. But look at it this way, who else is getting past them besides Burrow one time? If the Chiefs were any other playoff team or had any other QB, then we would have been to at least 2 Super Bowls by now

Same thing happened against different variations of KC and Cincinnati.... Too much data is in. They're not good enough

Beane and McDermott had 8 Years. 5 with an all time QB. It's not going to happen with this regime

They only lost to Cincy once in the playoffs. KC has ended our season 4 times in the last 5 years. But outside of Burrow one time, no one else is getting past them either. That should tell you right there that it's not just us or as much of a talent thing. Mahomes and the Chiefs literally beat everyone. He is 18-3 in the playoffs with 2 of the losses coming to Brady. We make the playoffs every year. We have gotten to the Championship game twice. You don't do that if you're not good enough. We are a top 4 team every season going into the playoffs

Ppl can get mad at me dude but if Cincinnati got in they were going to cook our defense.

Sure maybe Allen goes alien mode and wins but what are we really talking about....

They're not winning a championship with this coach and regime. You can try to rationalize it however you want. I firmly believe we need to move on

This game was really interesting. It was full of brief flashbacks of all the issues (big and small) the team has ever encountered along the way since Josh was drafted, even with moments that reminded me of the Texans playoff game Josh/OL issues/inexperience. High moments, low moments, failure, success, excitement, dread, joy, sadness. It had it all in one game.

Nailed it. Just didn’t expect HOU Josh to show up at all.

The difference between the Warren Moon oilers and the championship teams of Dallas or the 49ers in that era was wide...

It's just in this moment that you have the illusion that we're close.

We aren't as close as you think.

Yeah it was erratic early. The whole operation was like a pilot trying to navigate through a bad storm.

They aren't winning a championship period. But that's just because that's how it goes being a Bills fan. We had a head coach that had 4 straight shots with a HOF QB and still couldn't win a Super Bowl. We had a bunch of other regimes that couldn't win anything. We have McDermott who has gone to the playoffs in 7 out of 8 seasons with another HOF talent QB in Allen. What makes you think the next regime would be different? Hasn't our history alone been enough to make you realize it doesn't matter what we do?

Because in life you have to try. Maybe someone is from a tough background, maybe they got burned in a bad marriage but you've to keep trying.

This chapter is closed in my opinion and I think it's just time to move on and start a new story around Allen.

This is kinda more serious than sports but when I was still drinking, I would keep going to the bar not out of enjoyment but because I didn't want to let go of that part of my life. I knew I had to stop but I didn't want to let go.

Eventually it took severe anxiety from alcohol withdrawal and I finally moved on.

This regime is living under the umbrella of 13 seconds and I just think it's time to move on.

What reminded me of the Houston game was the odd behavior of the refs. Taking away a TD from us because the Houston guy didn't know the rules. And in this game, one ref running in marking short and one running in marking long.  A go to commercial review and then saying he was short.  No measurement.

I asked ChatGPT to summarize for those of us slow readers:

This reflection critiques the Buffalo Bills  playoff shortcomings, highlighting missed opportunities with Josh Allen’s sandlot-style play, questionable draft strategy, and roster inconsistencies. It emphasizes a lack of elite players, defensive depth, and cohesive offensive play-calling. The writer suggests a possible need for a shake-up to push the team further.

They kept marking it short all game... It was odd

You can't compare life situations to sports. They are 2 totally different things. And also I still think you're wrong when you say we aren't close. You're wrong. We are very close. Let me ask you something. We were win away from a Super Bowl. We scored 30 or more points 13 times and over 40 points 5 times. All we to do had was win this game and it's 50/50 that we win a Super Bowl. Now let me ask you, if we had won the Super Bowl this year with this same roster, would you be making the same argument? Because that is literally how close we were. The other thing to think about here is, football playoffs are only one game. If football was best of 7 like other sports, how many times do you think we could beat the Chiefs? 3? Maybe on another really good day 4? It's all about being better on that day. We were the better team in the regular season game. We didn't play like it in the playoffs. The fact that we can beat them in the regular season tells me in a best of 7, we could get them 3 or maybe 4 times. That's not way off. We also didn't have Benford after early in the game and no Rapp. Every single one of their players was healthy. There's a lot of factors that go into a one game single elimination game. It's not as simple as it sounds

This regime is the Warren Moon oilers. Awesome team, scored lots of points. Lots of accomplishment

They weren't a championship regime.

Same could be said about the Knicks or Utah jazz but they at least got to the championship.

There is a strong demarcation between the bills level and KC. It goes beyond just this game and the gulf is wider than this singular moment. It's many moments together and they're just not good enough.

Allen is a hof qb tho and isn't even 30 yet so there is tangible substantive hope for a world championship

If we run it back, which we will, the goal is simple. First round bye or bust. This team can't keep facing Lamar, Burrow, or Mahomes in the divisional and then again on the road. They need more of a lay up divisional game and then a home game in the conference champion. That would be a sign to say maybe its different. To do that we can't have any early season lapses, slow starts, sleepy games. We need to be out for blood from the jump.

This team is plenty good enough. They just make the most mistakes when it matters most. They have to fix that. I honestly think this team can beat anyone in the league when they are on their game. Yesterday they weren't. I ask you again, had they have gotten to a Super Bowl and won it this year with this same roster, would you make the same argument?

This regime will never get to a super bowl.

Maybe if they held on in 13 seconds they win the super bowl and things would be different. It didn't go that way for a reason....

Nothing pisses me off more than the NFL getting rid of the 2 seed bye week.

I mean seriously??!!!

What a cosmic joke

Top 4 with no chance of winning isn’t good enough

Only issue with this is, as this year showed. We won 13 games. We could have easily won 14 if we wanted to actually play starters and try against the Patriots the last game of the season. Even with that 14 wins, we still wouldn't have gotten a first round bye because the Chiefs won 15. We have won 13 games 3 times the last 5 seasons and all 3 times we missed out on the number 1 seed because the other teams had 14. It's not simple. Asking a team to win 14 or 15 games a year just to get the 1 seed is too difficult. Even the Chiefs only won 11 games last year in the regular season
