The roster needs playmakers on both sides of the ball.

That's for sure. But especially on the Defensive side. How they managed some of their better performances this year (I know it was take-aways) is still amazing to me based on everything they were up against... Personnel, talent, scheme, coaching...  Because there were times, and they were not necessarily few, where this was one of the worst Defenses I've seen in a while. B-)

Roster strengths:

QB, RB, OL  (roster is set here) Need to bring back Ty Johnson.

TE, LB, K, P solid (would like to add more physicality at LB for depth) TE has Knox, Kincaid, Gilliam and Davidson who has shown good upside.

WR decent but needs a playmaker. (Shakir, Samuel, Coleman and Hollins) Need speed and someone that can separate.

DE, DT, S and Corner Major upgrades needed. Outside of Oliver, Benford, Groot and Bishop are viable pieces to build around.

In addition, our DL philosophy needs to significantly change.

Unfortunately, difference makers at DE and DT will need to come thru the draft which Beane has missed multiple times.

CB and S can be had in FA but will come with a cost.

Regardless, we can’t run it back with Hamlin, Rapp and Bishop at S playing 15 yards off the LOS and are a liability blitzing and staying healthy.

At the end of the day Beane needs to take beat available player at DE, DT, WR, CB or S and not be timid about moving up to get a legit difference maker.

He needs to knock the first three picks out of the park and they need to be immediate contributors in year one! And I don’t think it’s unrealistic to swing for an impactful trade with a team that’s rebuilding. HELLO Dexter Lawrence NYG

i think u try to bundle the crap out of all the low round draft picks along with trading who every u can maybe to go with them...

do what ever you can to get some higher draft picks and go for as much quality as you can...ditch the potential philosophy aproach

this year and get some proven talent on the field.

they need to take a step back and analyze their previous drafts and figure out what is going wrong with how

they are valuating players and their abilities.

they need to pull of some rd one and two players that can come in and play day one and make a difference.

to many sqaundered high round draft picks.

plus evaluate why every single year our secondary is on life support

It would have cost a lot of draft capital.  It would cost our first this year most likely

Okay ,  whom would you have in retrospect ? :)

I am no scout type to even have a clue if BTj would have made an impact right with the Bills

But i was all about Trading up for the One they thought was as close sure fire as possible. and if not ? Get two by end of second round. Just in case lol

Yeah.  Either a first or two 2nds it pry would've taken.  We'd have a stud #1 outside WR right now though.

Using the Rich Hill chart, about pick #9 or #10

That’s a lot of draft capital for a player who is unproven. Unfortunately, our roster has two many holes to fill.

Tell me about Sanders

I want the Bills to get bigger and stronger when over  , and or shading centers.

It just seems to me this Defense demands a line that can hold up between the hashes , let the rest of the fast guys we already have clean up the edges.

Oliver has a role here too. But not My answer to the need.

Sanders is NOT who the Bills or fans would be coveting for DL, yet another sub-300 twitchy guy best suited for 3T, only really makes sense if you move on from Oliver and roll with Carter and Sanders in rotation I think.

I was just answering the question. Moving up in round one is not the way to go, unless it’s for our QB. Look at Beans history of 1st round trade ups. It is not pretty.

I think the 2nd and 3rd round movement is absolutely called for, and why Beane loves to try and flip camp depth for late date 3 picks.

Agreed.  Thomas would be huge in this offense.  I thought so too then, but hindsight is 20/20.  I thought we would draft a useful player with our first selection in 2024, so I was wary to trade two 1s or a 1 and two 2s.

I love draft capital, and am wary about the steep price to trade up usually.

This year- we need starters at WR 1(still), DT, CB 1.  We could probably use 2 of each.  We would be hamstrung this year without a first or both 2nds.  Last year we were over the cap, cutting starters, and setting up for 2025 SB run.  Now we have are fresh off AFC championship, we went toe to toe with the Chefs, and we have tons of draft picks and some cap space to fill our voids, and become a stronger football team.

So if I knew that we were going to screw up last years first, do the trade.  But I was expecting a major contributor with our first round pick last year.  But not knowing the future, I’m always BPA, trade pack if sweet bevy of picks in return.

I hear you with the draft capital but I had Brian Thomas Jr. in the tier with the other top three so I was bummed when the Jags took him.  I thought he was a top 10 pick and he pry should've made the pro bowl this year even though he played for a dysfunctional franchise.  We wouldn't have had to make the Amari Cooper trade if we moved up to get him so we'd have that 3rd round pick this year.  I don't know where we go from here at the WR position.  I hope Coleman will be better but his ceiling is a low end WR2 imo.  I'd add a DE to our list of needs.  Most important draft of Beane's tenure since 2018.

And look at the talent Mahomes has in Worthy, Brown, DHop and Kelce has and yet we still lost by 3. Put Chris Jones on the Bills and then tell me who has a better defense?

Ever wonder why one organization maintains a personnel/talent advantage AND a coaching one as demonstrated on Sunday?  Maybe KC's management is just better, focuses on continual improvement while Buffalo just keeps doing the same things that don't work by this point in the playoffs?

Or KC has had mainstays in Kelce and Jones to go along with their super start QB Mahomes, who has Josh had that remotely come close to their talents?

i think Bernard can be amongst the guys on defense to build around, so long we don't over pay him.

Teams that both draft and are coached well tend to win in the post-season.  Besides, who do you think drafted Kelce, Jones, and Mahomes?  Reid's been there since 2013 and Veach since 2017 as GM and before that as a personnel assistant.

Just feels like we're running circles. We've had the same issues for half a decade and we're expecting the group that hasn't been able to fix those issues to suddenly be able to.

Feels inevitable that next year we'll be in the same spot because we don't have enough difference makers on offense or defense.

Late January 2026:

"We just need a guy who can separate"

"Everyone eats until you need to convert a 4th and 5 to win the game"

"We just couldn't get any pressure on Mahomes/Jackson/Burrow"

"Our secondary just doesn't have the speed"

I'm so tired of it.
