Josh said he slid protection left. Warner says you should slide it right.

Did Josh mess up? Did Spencer Brown mess up? If they slid left like Allen says then Brown blocked the wrong rusher.

In a vacuum, yes. However this was addressed by one of the players that they were faking this earlier in the game, so you had to decide if they were faking again or telling the truth. Allen guessed wrong. Kinda seems like  50/50 call at that point if you're getting schemed against that well. Brady should have had a beater dialed up instead.

They already explained why the protection was called as it was.  It was based on what they had been showing earlier in the game.

It was wrong. Protection was set wrong. And Spencer Brown for whatever reason doesn’t slide left

So he did one thing most of the game and changed the tendency late game. Apparently our coaches aren't capable of preparing for it or doing that themselves...sigh

That’s what I’m saying. I think this was a perfect time for a timeout because we were not in a good position to attack the defense if that blitz came.

This was 4th down with 2 minutes left in the AFC Championship game and we mess up a protection?

So your knock is they made an educated guess based on what they saw all game and chose wrong?  Josh might have a cape, but he doesn't have a crystal ball.

And they basically had a 50/50 chance on getting it right and Josh still beat the blitz and put a very catchable ball where only his receiver could get it.

You don’t make guesses. The protection was fundamentally set wrong based on alignment. It was set wrong in the most critical point of the game.

Pretty sure they wanted to keep all the timeouts in case of turnover on downs, which did happen of course.

But the game was almost assuredly going to be lost if that play didn’t convert so I agree you call timeout there and make sure your protections get set right.

What? Football is all about making guesses based on tendencies and what you think the other team's offense or defense is going to try to do.

You're now literally Monday morning quarterbacking and had Kincaid done his dang job, this isn't even being discussed except how great a play Allen made.

Make the catch and not one person on the planet is talking about where they slid the protection and who was hot. Make the catch.

This

Nobody talks about Eli Manning checking into the wrong protection because Tyree comes down w a catch that was 5000% more difficult than the one Kincaid dropped

Agree that hindsight is 20/20, but Allen should have taken a TO there.

On a crucial 4th down I’d like to have seen our best SP blocker back there in Johnson. Why he was split wide and on the LOS is still lost to me when our line had some rough spells on pass protection.

The whole play was a disaster for such a crucial down. From the lining to Josh’s protection change, from a LG running to behind the RG to block one of the two guys he let walk in, to our RT not sliding left with everyone else, to our TE dropping it. Just rough to see.

Still amazed our guy, given his protection error, still made the throw lol

All this talk about protection left or right makes no sense to me.  Had they had the right protection called and Allen threw the ball to Kincaid that he dropped they'd be talking about protection?

The bottom line is Josh beat the blitz and the receiver dropped the ball.

The way to beat that jailbreak in protection was to have a check down.

That's on Brady not Josh

He never had a chance because the OL protection prevented it. All he had was the 1 WR to that side and he was dragging to the opposite side. Basically there was no one available to Josh if they blitzed.

That is not by design. Someone messed up.
