Buffalo716 Posted Monday at 09:59 PM Posted Monday at 09:59 PM Realistically Josh Allen will keep his athleticism to least 34-35 36 years old.. John elway did He's basically a tight end athlete out there.. Travis Kelce can still move at 35 So Josh has six seven more years of athleticism with his arm.. and then he'll probably play the last 3-5 years with less juice Quote

folz Posted Monday at 10:04 PM Posted Monday at 10:04 PM Looking at the career life of other top running QBs, the age range is pretty defined, with a few outliers: Of the top 10 running QBs in NFL history (not counting Josh and Lamar), Cam retired at 32/33, and on the other spectrum, Fran Tarkenton was 39 and Aaron Rodgers is 41. The other 7 guys (Elway, Young, Cunningham, Vick, Wilson, McNabb, and McNair) were all 35-37. But, for almost all of them, their last year or two they were a bit of a shell of their former selves. So, for a running QB, is the shelf life of top play til about 34-35 years old maybe? Now, Josh is a better passer than many of the guys on that list, so he could probably last a bit longer, once the wheels start slowing down (like a Rodgers---not that Aaron ever ran quite to the extent of Josh). Josh is 28. And some of those guys played in a much harsher league for QBs as well. But, I'm going to say a solid 7 years left. Possibly up to 10 years if they keep a really good team around him at the end of his career (like they did for Elway and Manning at the end of their careers). A lot of great QBs currently are playing longer than guys back in the day, but I doubt Josh makes it in the league to 40 yo with the contact he takes. Quote
Ballhawk Posted Monday at 10:42 PM Posted Monday at 10:42 PM Everyone is only thinking terms of age. While Josh has a great attitude, I gotta think another year or two of this and the attraction of LA (vis-à-vis) his fiancé will start to weigh in. My prediction, if Josh hits 30 and loses two more times to KC, he's going to start thinking about his legacy. In that scenario he could move to LA to be with his fiance/wife, and also move to the NFC with maybe an easier path to the SB. By then, having lost to KC 6 times in the playoffs, who could blame him... Quote
Billever76 Posted Monday at 10:47 PM Posted Monday at 10:47 PM Listen we were not even supposed to be where we got this year next year 70 million comes off our dead cap hit this team is primed to be good for many years to come as long as Allen is a Buffalo Bill the Buffalo Bills will have a shot at the super bowl Quote

skibum Posted Monday at 10:59 PM Posted Monday at 10:59 PM As many years as Allen wants to play here. Quote

Even if he wants out …( I doubt he does) they wont agree to it , and I doubt he forces his way out in that particular year … All hypothetical and I’m actually expecting him to sign an extension this offseason , because it would be embarrassing for him to play on his $14 million contracted salary in 2025.. If Allen is like Cam Newton then his run is close to over. If he evolves like Elway and Roethlisberger did, then we have another 8-10 years of HOF play. Its safe to conclude Allen has 10 more years. Mostly likely with the Bills, but I am no longer 100% certain he cares about retiring a Bill. He and his fiance are pretty connected to California. Quote

Acquire multiple 1st picks, instead of having him walk. If he doesn't restructure his contract in 2026 (which he doesn't have to do) he’ll have a $64M cap hit. If he turns 30 without making the Super Bowl, he is gone Quote

zow2 Posted Monday at 11:19 PM Posted Monday at 11:19 PM Man it’s tough to put a number on how long the window is open? We just got bounced with a healthy Cook, healthy Oline, WRs relatively healthy Josh and most players other than a couple DB’s. Who knows about next year or beyond if guys get hurt. They still might need to go through KC, Baltimore, Cinci, etc.. nothing is a given. Quote

In fact all of the good will he has built in Buffalo would be gone overnight We have hospital wings named after people in his family... Because of all the money he donated He's the king of Buffalo He literally ruins his legacy if he leaves Buffalo and he knows that... He'll never be able to come back as player of the game.. he'll never be on the wall Josh knows his career is going to be defined by Buffalo... He's not losing 8 years of building himself up just to destroy the city Quote
MarlinTheMagician Posted Monday at 11:56 PM Posted Monday at 11:56 PM We have 10 years, more if they are smart and draft Josh's replacement a year or two before he is done. Hopefully, Josh will be helpful with them on timing that out. Rogers and Favre might not have done that, but I could see Josh giving management a heads-up "I plan to play two more years." Fortunately, we are far, far from that day. Quote

BuffaloBillsGospel2014 Posted Tuesday at 12:11 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:11 AM It took Peyton manning 8 years to finally get his 1st SB ring so there is time left but you would really like to see him at least get to 1 at this point, unfortunately there is a some obstacles in the way. Quote
