I have my first mock of the year, full two rounder, all but read to go so I'll give the forum a couple of days to mourn the loss and then I'll drop that midweek. 

 

That will be my turn the page and we are on to Green Bay moment.

We can make any excuses we want - the refs, the defense, McDermott, etc. - but the fact is they were so close... again... and same result. It feels pointless to continue as a fan.

Were you a fan during the drought years? If so, yes this hurts but it’s WAY better than those years. Our team is awesome and so close to going all the way. They have the ability to donut any year with Allen at qb and I think anyone during the drought would have gladly had a team that has a chance ever year. Be happy for what we have.

I had gotten pretty good at letting the losses go fairly quickly, but this one is going to sting for a while. Rapp aside, the starters were as healthy as they have ever been at this point in the playoffs. Losing Benford hurt, but regardless of the expectations pre-season, if they were going to clear this hurdle, this should have been the year. They could finally run the ball, their OL was dominant, and they had their starting DL, LBs, and CBs intact to start the game. Despite that, it still wasn't enough. IMO, it's going to take a shift in defensive philosophy to clear this hurdle, and I don't see that ever happening with McD. That realization doesn't sit well with me right now. I really feel like this team is stuck in this position with no clear way out, not good enough as a coaching staff to win it all, but not bad enough for ownership to justify making a change. So what am I doing to clear this funk... ruminating, I guess. Something tells me it's not going to help much, either.  On the bright side, at least there's almost a whole year before I get to feel this way again.

totally the right way to be, I'm the same. As a teenager I'd get enraged by this team, as a middle aged man I get angry during the game, then the next day just shrug and go to work

we have no control, so what can you do?  it's a game after all.  once it starts ruining my day, week, month, etc...i'm done.

In a better place than this morning for sure.

 

Listened to WGR all day, commiserated with listeners and hosts.  
 

In the end, hate being where we are today. But had a heck of a season and was able to watch one of the top QB’s the NFL has ever seen play.

 

its just a game. I still have to go to work and pay my bills. Will get over it and fall in love with the team all over again in September.

I've been resigned to the idea that I'll not live to see them win one for at least a decade now. They're just never good enough.

The Bills didn't make the plays when they needed to, and the refs didn't help.  Despite that, the Bills only lost by 3 with half of their starting secondary missing.  The Chiefs beat everyone, not just the Bills, and the Bills are the only team that ever seems to stand a chance of beating them.  So I take some solace in that.

I am a seasoned, conditioned Veteran of the Buffalo Bills and their playoff woes.

I'll just hope for the best next year but prepare for dissapointment until the glaring needs of this team are finally addressed!

I'm thinking of the thousands of dollars I just saved by not going to the Super Bowl.  I also would have had to postpone a procedure & the doctor would have been pretty PO'd.  

Better timing next year as long as I'm still physically able to go, with at my age & condition, is no guarantee.

I told my 25 year old son to save himself while he could. He's only been a fan for about ten years and he still has a chance a normal life. I'm 40 years in as a fan...and a lost cause. 

Prior to last night he kept telling me I was so pessimistic (anticipating bad things before they happened on the field). After last night, he came over and was like "I can't take this SH** anymore, I've been watching them do this for 5 years!". I was like...five...whole years...really? My head was spinning with Wide right, music city miracle, Houston Wildcard, 13 seconds, KC...save yourself while you can my son...there is only pain to be had as a Bills fan.

Been enduring disappointments like these for over 50 years, so I'm to the point where my recovery time is measured in hours, not days.

 

Today, I treated myself well-- bundled up and went for a long walk on a cold, sunny day. Treated myself to a nice lunch out. Then got a 1 hour massage. 

 

Although I'm here, I'm trying to limit the doom-scrolling. It's a lot of people talking past each other and fixes nothing.

I watch all the YouTube stuff about how the refs fix the games for the Cheifs. It makes me feel better knowing everyone thinks the Chiefs cheat. 

 

The chefs SB win will be empty of honor just because the narrative.

First off rather than just looking at the negative of this 1 game look at all of the good things that happened to a team that in the beginning of the season most every one said theres no way they are going to win their division and they had that rapped up 5 weeks early . 

 

We made it to the AFC Championship with what everyone was calling a rag tag bunch of players despite all that happened in the game that rag tag team came 3 points away from winning and given all of the drat picks we have and the core coming back i will wait for next season to start but i think we will be right back in it again .
