They might be able to grab one at #6 overall, but could need more ammo to move up even higher or extra picks to supply their rookie QB with weapons & blocking. There have been trade rumors floating around and personally I don’t think an elite DE in his prime is going to have much patience for a regime change and a new QB to develop. Unlike Von Miller, Crosby is not going to be a rental. He is only 27 years old and someone you can build the entire defense around. Beane absolutely needs to give up whatever it takes to get him. They certainly have the draft capital to do so. I think he is well worth a first rounder and one of our fourths, but a 2nd plus someone like Kincaid could work as well. He is a fantastic fit for the Bills. Paired up with Rousseau on the other side would make a lethal duo w/ AJE rotating in. We all know the defense has been absolute dog ***** in the postseason especially the pass rush. Mahomes absolutely embarrassed the Bills D scrambling around the pocket evading the rush like Pac-Man. A player like Crosby would have an immediate impact and propel Buffalo to being SB favorites. I think he would be the perfect fit on the field and the locker room. It makes too much sense. He would instantly become our best player on that side of the ball. The 9 million we save from cutting Von Miller plus another year removed from that awful Stefon Diggs cap hit, the Bills can finally make a big splash & add some juice to this inconsistent pass rush. Beane has been hit or miss when it comes to the 1st round. A proven player would make much more sense. Even if Beane did hit on round 1, they will most likely need 2-3 years to develop. We saw the impact Diggs made (despite his untimely exit) propelling us from the wildcard round to an AFC Championship. If you disagree with me, don’t just downvote my post. Give me a reason. 👍 Scroll to the 32:42 minute mark. Interestingly enough Sal and Matt Bove were trying to interpret Beane’s press conference. Both feel that Beane will try a big swing at WR or defense. Bove really thinks it’s going to be Maxx Crosby. To add fuel to the fire, he said Crosby is still young (27) and that the Bills liked him coming out college. All guesswork, but the logic behind the move and the actual fit would make sense. I just think the Raiders will ask for a LOT of compensation and that there will be other teams interested. (See how easy it is to add context to a video?) Edited 5 hours ago by JohnNord 2 Quote
DCofNC Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I want him, but if you think he’s going to be had for a 1st and 4th you are dreaming. 1st, 2nd and 5th this year and a conditional 2nd next year will get you to the table. 3 Quote

Guys. I appreciate the Maxx Crosby and Miles Garrett talk. We need an impact DE. That's true. For the love of god, though. Get the value right. Defensive End is one of the most important positions on the field and you're asking for two guys who are at the top of the league in their position. A 1st and 4th is not enough. Also, you might not have been paying attention, but the Raiders' Tight End had the best rookie season of all time. A "2nd plus someone like Kincaid" makes zero sense. The price is two 1st round picks and maybe more. 2 Quote

Why would they go after Crosby when they could get a high motor developmental project DE or football challenged CB instead? Oh, right, or a hands of stone passcatcher that misses most of the season? 1 Quote

I don't care if we give away our first round pick, or if we make a trade that means we have to give up our first pick in 2026! If it means that you can get player(s) that can get us a championship, then do it! The future is now! 1 1 Quote

I know we draft late in the rounds and we have a healthy supply of picks this year, but I’m feeling some sticker shock. 1 Quote

My take is the biggest issue is the contract structure so you can fit him AND others in the plan for now and the next 3-4 years. Giving up a shot at a young difference maker with the 1st round pick it hard, BUT if we are honest, outside of JA, the only impact player Beane has managed out of a 1st round pick was Diggs. Those picks were all better than this year so it’s certainly no guarantee he will make anything of that pick. At least Crosby is a known commodity. 1 1 Quote
klos63 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Reporting is that Tom Brady wants Crosby there long term. Which makes sense. Quote

Crosby/Garrett/Watt/Bosa are the only complete ends against both play types I can think of. There’s some great pass rushers but if you’re giving up astronomical resources it better be a guy who’s on the field most of the snaps and excels at stopping both the run and pass. 3 Quote

I saw it last night as well. But I also saw the same exact thing against Baltimore, Denver, and throughout the season. And not just Groot, whoever we had in at LDE. I'm not sure this is on Babich. No NFL DC will design a play with one of his DEs crashing down inside without having someone in the back 7 covering the edge, particularly against Mahomes, who, when it runs likes to run to his right. Either Groot isn't doing what he is supposed to do or the back 7 isn't doing its job. Quote

If Buffalo were to overpay a little then this would be the perfect time to do so. They threw all that money at Mario Williams and we had no where near the draw or talent that we have now. I mean If you’re going to overpay for anything then it would be a pass rusher. I love Bernard, but money is better spent elsewhere. Throw Dorian Williams there and just keep LBs/Safeties on rookie contracts. Worked out wonderfully with Tremaine Edmunds. Dorian Williams is a bigger/bulkier guy. Here is a different scenario. The defense needs to get bigger & more physical just like what we did to the offense. If they were to switch to a 4-3 and throw Dorian at MLB with Milano & Bernard on the outside, I would be ecstatic. Offer Taron Johnson (who would obviously no longer be in a full time roll) and pair him with some draft picks to get Crosby. Quote

I agree it would seem there should be someone looping around from the inside. That is how we have gotten to Mahomes with Milano in the past. But that isnt happening most of the time. So something is wrong, and the DC needs to address it. That far into the season, the Coach is responsible either way since they are either making it happen by design, or allowing it to happen by not addressing it properly. 1 Quote

I'm okay with that because we have two 2nds. So you got Crosby Then with your 2nd and 4th you draft two top CBS to backup Benford and Dj Reed Then your other two 4ths you take dline or safety or even wr Then fill out depth I'm also not stopping at Crosby. I'm signing pat jones from the Vikings too Edited 4 hours ago by Kelly to Allen 2 Quote
Big Turk Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Best thing about it? KC is essentially a divisional opponent now so he can still see them twice a year, with once being in an elimination game. 1 1 Quote

There is a system problem with that unit IMO it's called the rotation. some of these dudes need reps to be able to beat their guy. as an example, von miller played about 300 snaps on defense this year. jaybeezee Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Maxx is not coming to Buffalo. Beanes not making any trades to get him or Garrett. Beane will target some washed up, way past his best days FA and he will rarely produce. It's not what I hope, it's what I know and I will use his history as proof. The guy was a AGM in Carolina. His job was to crunch the numbers. He wasn't the talent selector there and people here need to understand that. He is limited and it shows by our drafts! Once and a blue he will get lucky, but he has yet to fortify our needs with any real studs. Quote

If by having the most production as a whole of your drafted players since he has been GM, then yes, that is actually what his draft shows when you look at things analytically and not just throw out random hot takes you come up with in your mind that have little basis in reality.
