so which of those three teams is trading with the Bills ?

Not the Dolphins at 21 I wouldn’t imagine…

The Eagles at pick 22 got Quinyon Mitchell… he was pretty much recognised as the best CB in the draft and was first off the board … …I think that was the guy they wanted so I would suggest it’s unlikely they were moving …

so probably leaves the Steelers at 20 as the only realistic option … they took a RT …maybe they tried to move up and they wanted too much .., probably we will never know … but it takes two to tango and they just can’t move where they want …

I don't have a problem with the Kincaid and Coleman picks.  Obviously they gotta take that next step. A lot of this is diggs screwing us over.

So I can't get mad at beane for diggs turning into a nut job

The Elam and basham picks are indefensible and ridiculous. The fact that Elam and basham aren't even avg starters and could be out of the league is a massive failure

I forgot who said it, but he's right that 1st Rd picks are incredibly overvalued and so I'm not opposed to trading some higher picks for proven players. Especially with Allen entering his early prime

Absolutely this.

People are acting like getting Thomas was an easy thing to do, because they only see he went just 5 picks ahead of our original pick.

It wasn't that easy. Maybe Beane tried hard but it was impossible. We didn't have 3rd round pick and it wouldn't be enough anyway. 2nd round could get us to 19 maybe, but who was the trade partner? Like you said, Eagles wanted Mitchell and would miss out if trading with us, Dolphins probably wouldn't trade with us at all, Steelers needed an OT and there was quite a run on them. 19th pick were Rams and they drafted Verse.

It is fairly possible that we had precisely zero chance to draft Thomas, but people will still act like Beane was an idiot who only cared about recouping 3rd round pick.

something is amiss here.
I dont know the mile markers like March and june 1st

But had trusted what i read last year or two that this year was the year we should have much  cap space ?

We can't pay guys simply because we screwed up and they're all we have.  That seems to be the argument for D-Line Edmunds as well.

This Defense needs a massive overhaul.. and there's not one person that I see as a must re-sign on that side of the ball.

You cant overhaul them all in one offseason.

Benford? Not sure the dislike post season.

Agree the secondary does need some upgrades. But that one I am keeping.

Douglas elam etc I just cant pay another cent to.

So Beane is terrified to do business with Miami @ 21 but he has no problem helping KC, got it.  The Dolphins would've easily taken our 2nd round pick. This whole narrative that we didn't do it because we didn't have a 3rd round pick is bs.

I now recall reading he called quite a few teams looking for trades up/down ( no specifics )
Some teams were just not going to move

Beane might have been willing to ,,..would the Dolphins ?

Didn’t Beane just get absolutely ridiculed for trading down with the Chiefs ? Again with these hypothetical discussions that happen every year …how do we know he didn’t call them and they declined ?

Good Lord, sweeten the pot...be aggressive...Miami did not need a wr and we did.  And as far as I'm concerned Beane should always be ridiculed for doing ANY business with KC (up or down).

Miami did need an edge though and they took one in what was a very limited edge class …much more restricted than the WR class,,,He might not still be there at 28…

It’s easy to be sitting here a year later saying with the benefit of hindsight what they should have done to be more aggressive ….happens every year ..

They continue to hit in draft picks, Carter is destroying OLs and Dejean (who SHOULD have been the Bills pick) has been locking people down, they continue to replace high performers with high performers on the cheap, through the draft, the way it’s intended.

This!  Howie is incredible. They’re crushing their drafts, especially the early rounds… while we’re mostly whiffing.

We are going to be fine cap wise this year

Yup. There’s going to be cuts and multiple restructures. Not to mention an increase of cap money.

These guys want to win a Superbowl.
