78thealltimegreat Posted Monday at 03:45 PM Posted Monday at 03:45 PM The Diggs dead cap number was an albatross last year. That number is now gone. Quote

Worst part is: They trade up for Elam and Kincaid... But they don't trade up for a guy like Brian Thomas. If Coleman flames out, gonna set this team back big time. As you can't have 3 first round busts in a row. 6 3 2 Quote

I just keep hearing we are in much better position next year. There’s small restructures all the time and certain guys can get cut for cap savings. We’re in way better cap shape than last year.. peeking at the number now doesn’t mean much of anything Edited Monday at 03:48 PM by Generic_Bills_Fan 1 Quote

I would add Cooper, who is FA in the off season, was he really worth a 3rd, a young guy who would be here 4 years on a cheap rookie deal vs a guy here for half of one year. I would say no he wasn't in the long term and Beane's job is to think not only right now but long term. 2 Quote
SCBills Posted Monday at 03:56 PM Posted Monday at 03:56 PM (edited) When discussing cap, a serious conversation should be had about who we resign, which will impact what we do this year in Free Agency and the Draft. Cook and Shakir are re-signs for me. They're both difference makers and they both step up when the lights shine bright. Rousseau and Bernard are maybe's, who I'm sure they'll probably re-sign, but I don't know. I'm iffy on the ROI with those two. It seems like more Knox/Oliver type paying good/not great players big money. Benford is a no for me. He hasn't made it through one playoff run healthy and he's not a ball hawk. Great cover corner, which if there is one thing I'm actually confident in McDermott in, it's to be able to find these type of guys. That money needs to go to the DL, which will in return, help our Secondary. Bills cap is only ok, even after this reset year, because we had to chase pass rush and sign an aging Von, along with tying up money in players that don't make a difference when it matters. At some point, we have to treat more guys like Edmunds and less like Oliver. Edited Monday at 03:58 PM by SCBills 1 Quote
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted Monday at 04:04 PM Posted Monday at 04:04 PM I keep hearing we took one on the chin this year to load up next year. I’m not sure where that money is coming from. It’s so hard to get back and anyone that assumes we’ll be better next year is crazy. We were right there. I’m done with this coach. It’s never going to change. As long as he’s here, we won’t win. It’s just a helpless depressing feeling. But we are all stuck. So 1 Quote
Big Turk Posted Monday at 04:06 PM Posted Monday at 04:06 PM Allen is going to get an extension which will lower his cap hit significantly. They will free up money with some other contract maneuvering. 1 Quote
BuffaloRebound Posted Monday at 04:08 PM Posted Monday at 04:08 PM We’re in decent cap shape. Miller is the only bad contract still on the books. Most of the starters are signed to fair deals. Give Cook a raise. I’m not signing anybody else before I have to including benford, shakir, and rousseau. Quote
BillMafia716ix Posted Monday at 04:10 PM Posted Monday at 04:10 PM (edited) Everybody talking about cutting Von. He was our best edge defender this year and only played 30% of snaps. I can see them restructuring his deal Edited Monday at 04:10 PM by BillMafia716ix 1 Quote
EasternOHBillsFan Posted Monday at 04:15 PM Posted Monday at 04:15 PM Why is it unrealistic for Von to retire and then turn around and join the front office or staff? That is doable and that salary doesn't count against us. Quote

There is almost nobody to fill his role, and I am of the opinion that even with Benford, they need at least a starting safety and a #2 and #3 corners. 1 1 Quote

We can't pay guys simply because we screwed up and they're all we have. That seems to be the argument for D-Line Edmunds as well. This Defense needs a massive overhaul.. and there's not one person that I see as a must re-sign on that side of the ball. 2 Quote
