In 2023 we won a playoff game before losing by 3 to the Chiefs.

ok, the 2022 season which was still lead by McD, and the loss to the Bengals that occurred on Jan 22, 2023.

That season was a complete aberration of everything holy, from training camp tragedies right through its completion.

Using it as a data point for any discussion is pointless and I think you recognize that.

Fans need to get it through their heads, Terry isn't doing anything. He doesn't have to deal with the Team because Beane and McDermott do it for him. Allen puts butts in the seats and Terry collects money. Then sells part of the team to make more money.

It is what it is, and its not changing any time soon.  Best learn to deal with it.

Ok, I understand you will have an excuse ready for every situation presented and nothing is McDermott's fault. Got it.

You said the step backwards would be not handling injuries well and losing before we play the Chiefs. We've already dont that with McD.

When we get bounced from the playoffs next year and waste yet another year of Prime Josh, you'll at least have exactly what you wanted with the safe decision.

The definition of insanity is having Mack Hollins be the go-to guy. Where are all these pieces? This is a GM and coaching failure. I think this go around Beane deserves more of the blame than in previous years..

If we had Worthy and they had Coleman, we win.  Beane has had some poor drafts recently.  The rookie class this year was essentially worthless, when we really needed home runs.

but Mack Hollins has been great.

Unless you have an actual viable solution, this is nothing but more complaining.

They've arguably been the second best team in the NFL for the last 5 years and would probably have a couple Lombardis if it weren't for the Chiefs.

Mahomes/Reid/Spagnuolo are not only the best combo in the NFL but one of the best in its entire history.

What is your realistic solution to get past them, because blowing it all up ain't it.

Yay, participation trophies for everybody...........jesus, i can finally sleep tonight knowing we've been 2nd best over a 5 year span with no end in sight, mind you.

Now i feel a ton better.

That is why I have finally come to the conclusion that the least risky move that leaves what is great about the team intact and possibly fixes what is broken is the firing of Beane. Leave everything else, except special teams, alone.

Well now you're just allowing your frustration to make you mean

I'm not trying  to make you feel better. Only you can accomplish that.

I'm just pointing out that tearing apart the second best team in the league because it's not as good as the best team in the league might not be the best way forward.

My solution isn't to fire McDermott- But I would hire an outside DC to change this defence.

This undersized/heavy zone scheme just doesn't hold up in the big games against KC

I like this idea.  We are not going to get rid of mcclappifukstick.   Get someone else to run the def.  Playoffs show our D's true colors.  And every year they look awful.

I agree 100%, however, no one seems to understand what the problem is, nor how to even correct issues that keep plaguing this team year in and year out, including the FO and coaching staff.

I am from a highly technical background where you identify the issues, you plan to correct the issues, you implement a system to address and then proceed in tweaking to satisfy the concerns and then adjust as you go.

Do you see where i'm going with this?

Our FO and coaching staff clearly haven't identified what the issues are in keeping us from beating KC and if you can't identify what the issues are, then how do you address and correct? And don't say that our FO knows what the issues are because they clearly don't........can beat KC in the regular season but not in the postseason, have never addressed a true #1 WR, glue and pasted a piss poor pathetic D, etc.

It's the same thing every year with this franchise.

Here's the saying in the nuclear industry........"if you can't identify the problem, then maybe YOU are the problem" (referring to our FO and coaching staff)

I’m down in the dumps today too, friend.

But ask yourself - who is available? I don’t want a Brian Schottenheimer.

There isn't one guy among the 7 who just landed new jobs I would want over McD.  If you honestly look out at the head coach/GM talent pool the Bills already have a top 10 or maybe even a top 5 pair.  I would trade McD for Reid in a heart beat as would I trade Bean for the Eagles GM.  Hell I would also like to have Musk's money to.  But it ain't happening.

So beyond the HOF coach and GM who are actually better then McD/Bean would people want?  McVay? Tomlin? Harbaugh (either of them), Taylor, Quinn, McCarthy, Belicheat, some random college coach or some random coordinator?

It's frustrating as hell because McD & Bean have not been good enough.  IMO though we're on the cusp of winning a SB.  And whether by luck or some subtle improvements in McD/Bean we are better positioned to win that SB sticking with these two guys.

Personally I think the problem is very obvious.

Reid/Mahomes/Spagnuolo are one of the genuinely deadliest combinations in the entire history of this sport.

I'm just not sure I see a realistic path forward to changing that.

Add more talent, keep working harder, play your ass off Sundays.

Anything else is just pie in the sky.

Vrabel. He is the anti-McD. Always has his teams playing as the bully, and is a master of situational football.

I like Vrabel but as a head coach he was not as good as McD has been.  His overall record over 6 seasons was 54 - 45 and his playoff record was 2 - 3 with 3 playoff appearances in 6 seasons and 1 AFC championship loss.

He coached a Ryan Tannehill lead team to the #1 seed and Divisional round multiple years.

There is much more to it than just W/L record. McD's looks great, mostly because he has Josh.

Give Josh to a guy who can take Tannehill to the #1 seed, and who has out-Belichicked Belichick with situational football on multiple occasions, and see how it goes.

What was Vrabel/McD's head-to-head record for the times they faced each other?

In all fairness, Vrabel never had a quarterback.  You put JA on those teams and they would beat KC simply because of his defensive approach.  I'd take Vrabel in a heartbeat over McDipshit.
