JP51 Posted Monday at 02:30 PM Posted Monday at 02:30 PM (edited) Not gonna lie, I am a bit nervous to do this... there is a lot of emotion going on... I will say I am glad I didn't post last night but this may be too soon... I am going to try and put my realism hat on... here goes... sorry for the long wind... 1. I think the a significant portion fan base is really emotional right now... feeling like they have been sold a bill of goods and that the pursuit of a title is out of reach. I am hoping for changes but being this emotional is not time to make decisions. Hoping the Front office realizes that. As fans we can afford to fly off the handle... 2. I think we need to make tough decisions to get over the hump. Yesterday proved to me not only are we not talented enough in critical areas like CB, Safety, DL and maybe WR well LB too... but we are still paying too much money to people for too little production... so Coop, Oliver, Von and Rasul and our safeties maybe even a couple others are obvious... but I hope they look at the over all team past that and determine if guys like Rousseau, Epenesa, maybe even Milano... Knox etc... are worth the money they are paying them or if they are a net loss based on performance/pay... falling in love with your players prevents you from seeing what everyone else does.. we made these decisions with Diggs and Edmunds etc.. we need to do this again 3. As long as Josh is here we are going to have a shot. BUT this was not the best overall team in terms of Talent/Team... Team overcame a lot this year... I think Talent got us in the end especially on Defense 4. Speaking of Defense... this team has no one that you need to game plan around that will wreck your day on a consistent basis... like A Donald, or Watt, or Jones, Hutchison, Crosby, Garrett... etc... not that simply having those players wins you a Superbowl, but to me it is a pretty critical piece we are missing. Badly. Players like that make up for shortcomings in other areas. We had no molding this year to overlay some flaws. Changing this would be a big step. 5. Coaching... so torn here... is this coaching staff good enough.... I think in large regard it is not... I think Joe Brady has been brilliant... I also think this is his first full year as OC and he has shown the propensity to get schooled from time to time... Babich I don't think is good enough... ST is not good enough. McD... here goes the hornets nest.. I struggle with him. I wish he would hire a major D Co to look at this team D and adjust it. I did like his more aggressive stance this year. I am going to hold out hope he can figure it out.. at least 1 more year. 6. Front Office Beane overall has built this team that is perennially in some level of contention.. he has not built the best team in the league to say the least. All too often we are paying big contracts and not getting the commensurate production, and signing players especially on the DL that are and always have been mediocre, in hopes that they somehow are a revelation... they have not been. Our drafts have produced solid players from time to time.. but lots of superstars we have passed up in the draft. I think I would really like him to look at himself and bring in some different eyes to assist. 7. I think we did exceed my expectations from the beginning of the year... Yeah!... I think it hurts as much still as all of them do... Tying to talk myself out of it... not working 8. I do think I am excited for the future still in hopes that we are able to supplement our critical flaws... Hamlin just cannot be our starting safety next year... DaQuan Jones cannot be a starting DL etc... 9. Over Reliance on 1 player(17) is not a recipe for a championship. 10. I still care... I don't know why but i do... guess its who we are. Realistically as hard as it is, this roster and team should be better next year. It’s a solid team but there’s a reason why we only had two pro bowlers. It needs better talent to get over the hump. 1 Quote

davefan66 Posted Monday at 02:40 PM Posted Monday at 02:40 PM There were a lot off issues last night. Elam killed us, pass rush and containment wasn’t good. Cooper and Coleman were non factors. Brady wasn’t great last night. 4th down plays needed to do something other than the tush push. KC sniffed it out, yet he continued to call it. Hurt the team for sure. 1 1 Quote

Can’t overpay anyone, Rousseau, Shakir, Benford, etc 1 Quote

Hurt the team for sure. I agree on all fronts but the constant tush push thing was insane.. I cannot imagine Reid going to the same play 6 times when he knew we were gonna go all in to stop it... he woulda rolled out, optioned, Tackle Eligible tossed.. something to keep them honest. 2 Quote
Southern Bills Fan Posted Monday at 02:44 PM Posted Monday at 02:44 PM Beane has found very productive players later in the draft but really whiffed on the high picks and big money FA's (except Josh). First and second round picks are supposed to be your stars and ours usually aren't. 1 Quote

There is a ton of valid emotion on the board when you lose a game like this. But to move forward we have to be realistic. Pick ourselves back up, regroup, reassess, adjust and get right back on the horse as painful and disappointing as it is. BILLIEVE BILLSMAFIA! 1 Quote

This has been a critical failure.... and costs us a lot of money against the cap trying to find those guys on the open market. Quote
