Doesn't cutting Miller alone get us out of the red by like 15 million?

I'm not a big salary cap follower, so maybe I'm off base here.

miller should have been cut 2 years ago!

get some corners and safeties that can actually play!

starting Hamlin is a joke

There is some ammo for the folks that want to get rid of Beane and McDermott.

Barring the above, we need to make some replacements on our scouting staff.  They’re average and don’t seem to hit home runs as much as we could/should.

Pretty sure Beane will be active in FA this year.   His hands were tied last off season due to Diggs, Miller, White ,etc  cap hits, but these largely disappear in 2025.

Go Bills.

Brandon Beane is a top 5 General Manager in the NFL so let's just blow him off and hire a top 4

Based on what?  Take Allen off this team and we win 5-6 games tops.

No real pass rush, not WR'S who cant get open and not drop balls outside of Shakir.  LB's too small and often injured and the DB'S really aren't good.

Allen covers up a lot of issues on this team.

Agreed.

The malcontent Diggs cost us $31M against the cap this year!  Think of what we could have done with that money. That’s ALOT of $$$ for free agency.

You could say Diggs cost us a SB.

@GunnerBill - with no offence intended to anyone else, I rate you as the most knowledgeable poster on the board so would really like to know your full opinion on McDermott over Beane, as you disagreed with keeping the current GM over the HC.

I think both the Kincaid and Coleman picks are not looking to good. Coleman wears the number 0, and that seems to have been his impact last night. 2 weeks in a row, in a big game, gotta have it moment, and Kincaid doesn't come up with it. Besides Shakir, who do you trust in a situation like last night. We've been sorely lacking size and speed at wide out, and this was a great draft for it. We decided to go with one of the slowest WR in the draft.

You have this cheat code of a QB, who you continue to handcuff, by failing to arm him with the proper weapons. I won't revisit the Ford over Metcalf thing, because that's been discussed to death. We had an opportunity at a redo with Bryan Thomas, who you failed to go up and get. This is the absolute type of guy that you needed to match with Allen.

I was a big Beane fan but I’m starting to lose confidence in him. He hasn’t hit on any top draft picks. I give him credit for finding talent in the later rounds…but we are void of playmakers on both sides of the ball and that’s  really due to not hitting on early round draft picks.

Letting the Chiefs grab Worthy has proven to be another idiotic move by Beane. Bills STILL don’t have a WR that can stretch the field. Idk how anyone can defend Beane at this point.

These KC games keep coming down to a play or two at the end that they are making and we are not. That isn't scheme. It isn't coaching. It's not Xs and Os it's Jimmys and Joes and I feel like when at the end of play off games you having to use a slot receiver (in 2023) and a tight end (in 2024) as your go to "downfield" options that is telling you that you are lacking in something that you need. Not having it in 2023 when Diggs hit a wall in season was somewhat defensible. Not having it in 2024 when you knew that was the issue calls into question the drafting of a proven non-separator at #33.

If we were getting nowhere near KC and couldn't live with them I'd be saying the schemes are the problem more than anything. When we blew it at the end in 2021 that was on coaching. But the last two years we have had the ball on offense at the end of the game with a chance to go down and win it. And both times we have not been able to find a guy to make that play. Not Xs and Os. Jimmys and Joes.

Add to that the corner that we spent a 1st round pick on being brutalised all night, the guard we spent a 2nd round pick on fluffing his key block on the final offensive play of the game. The safety we spent a 2nd round pick on looking clueless in coverage all night. Oh, and the guy we gifted them in round one to take the aforementioned non-separator being our tormentor in chief (no pun intended).....

Yea. I'm fine with them both on the hotseat going into 2025. But no question Beane's seat should be hotter IMO.

His strength is the cap and pro personnel evaluation - trading for Douglass, signing Ty and Hollins and McGovern and Edwards.  Signing Rapp and getting decent rotational guys on the Dline.

Enough to make you a good GM.

But he is not good enough with the draft.  Below average to bad.

Beane is living off the fact Cleveland took Baker, the Jets took Darnold, and Denver passed on a QB.  If not for Allen he would have been fired years ago.

He blew up the salary cap to get rid of Diggs because Diggs was the only one to call out McD as a fraud.

Now he has enough cap space and draft picks for one last shot.

He can get rid of Miller and the White/Diggs contracts are off the books.

Sign Allen to a massive extension and free up a ton of cap space at the same time.

Stop hoarding draft picks.  It's time to mortgage the future this year, because if they don't; win it all next year he has no future.  Go get Myles Garrett or Max Crosby.  Go get a stud WR.  He's been better getting veterans than picking rookies.

I'd strongly disagree with him being a top 5 manager. Is he bad? No. He's a good maybe even a great manager. But he's clearly been out drafted by the chiefs and his own words "you find out who you are when you lose in the playoffs" well for 5 years the world has seen the bills D line/ overall defense not be good enough. And it's arguably gotten worse while throwing draft picks and piles of money at it. He's had great picks, but his early picks have been huge misses, while most of the chiefs recent early picks have been home runs. Simply the production from mcduffie karlaftis creed worthy vs picks like Elam  boogie coleman Rousseau Kincaid tells a story.

We need to re-think the defensive scheme And the type of players we draft. Big D-lineman, thumper LB, and man corners.

it’s clear that that’s the sort of defense we have to run to beat these playoff teams.

THIS!!!! Beane and McDermott have to make a big decision here. He has insisted on his version of the Tampa 2 D which requires a IMPACT DT and LB, and also preferably a safety. Beane can't seem to provide that. In addition McDermott cannot seem to come up with a defensive plan to limit teams when absolutely needed. Four years of this now. 29 points should have been enough, KC didnt score 30 all year, 18 games! In my opinion but I'm sure won't happen, is that McDermott needs to hire an experienced successful AGRESSIVE  DC and get the hell out of the way. But for now it feels like we will do the repeat and rinse.

Thank you. But wouldn't McDermott have a say on who to choose? Or is it all on Beane, and he basically tells McDermott to work with them?

It also sounds like Coleman was chosen at Josh's insistence.

Of course, that's not to say Josh wanted him chosen ahead of Worthy, or at 33.

Of course McDermott has a say but it is Brandon Beane's call. I know two people who have been in the building - one on each side - and they both say independently of the other that Beane runs the draft. He'd never pick a guy Sean is vehemently against, they are too collabrative for that. But Sean isn't grinding hours of tape to decide between Coleman or Worthy or Mitchell or whoever. That is Brandon Beane's job and he is accountable for those picks.

Huge off-season for Beane. Only all time great, game changing talent he's gotten is Allen. He needs to find that guy who can take over a game on D. He also needs to do a better job evaluating who he pays to stay. I'm not sure smaller guys on D works bc they get hurt all the time. Needs to start factoring in availability before paying guys. Needs 1st & 2nd round picks that actually produce at a high level. Not real confident he & the scouting department can do it.
