It hurt.  I thought Bishop played OK as did Hamlin.  Kelce wasn't really a factor.  I am surprised they didn't put Ingram in for Elam.

We were all screaming for Ingram. I have tried to defend Elam but at this point I would trade him for a sixth rounder and that would be a steal.

Honest question.. what is the point of having a Defensive HC if he needs everything to be perfect on his Defense in the big moments to not be an absolute albatross around this team's neck?

I agree being down Rapp & Benford to a fully healthy Chiefs team is rough.

I agree being down all our linebackers last year to the Chiefs is rough.

I agree being out of gas against the Bengals after the Hamlin incident is rough.

So... what do we do?  Have to pray we're fully healthy to ever get through?  Only one team has that health luck and they still need biased officiating to get to Super Bowl every year.

Maybe it's the type of player we want for this scheme?  This.  Happens.  Every.  Year.

Yet, might we late this year say the same thing about the Benjamin like Slouth named Coleman?

What will save the Coleman pick from too much scrutiny is that he was technically round 2, even though he was the top of round 2 and we had traded back twice and he was our first pick. Lots of people miss on round 2 WR's they will say.

The damning thing is someone like Brian Thomas Jr was available if we trade up, or just stay put and take Worthy (fastest player ever) who just put up 100 yards on us. The Coleman pick never made any sense. Anyone with half a brain can watch his film and see he never separated from college players so what would he do vs pro? And he's not that good at jump balls so then what's the point of having him? He's very average, would have been fine as a round 3 guy I suppose.

I think it’s getting to be time to get a DC from outside the org.

I’ll add this.   They better hope Benford is OK because it looks an awful lot like they did him dirty rushing him back.

Elam is the worst draft pick I've ever seen. If he wasn't picked in round 1 he would have never made the team at any point. We have drafted and released late round and undrafted guys that are better. How can you miss THAT badly?

He was a desperation pick because it was one of obvious need. No doubt they targeted McDuffie before KC traded ahead to get him. When you consider Mahomes, McDuffie and Worthy, Buffalo has been their own worse enemy handling their draft picks. KC has been outsmarting, out maneuvering, out drafting and out coaching the Bills for 8 years now.

I sure hope they didn't "rush" him through the concussion protocol. Not saying they did, but boy that was was a BAD look.

Hope he's ok

Insane to even pretend they didn't. Dude was in protocol for like 2 days, and then got a "personal day". Lol I wasn't born yesterday. They were clearly hiding his condition

Spags would’ve gotten obliterated with nazeeh Johnson forced into Jaylon watsons role to be fair…some of this injury stuff you can mitigate with depth but some of it is just dumb luck.

They completely missed on Elam. A guy they drafted in the 6th round in the same draft out performed him. Tough pill to swallow.

I can accept that, if it wasn't the excuse every year.

At some point you have to figure it out and/or change philosophy on the players you bring in.   I know the Benford concussion was bad luck, but this guy literally can't make it through a playoff run.

One of the biggest story lines not being talked about,  already down our S, and we lose our CB1 .

Essentially went from an advantage to Elam, who was a liability

I'm concerned that the Bills "Tua'd" Benford - rushed him back from a concussion where he really should have had a week off.

Ya gotta wonder if Elam had had the #1 reps in practice during the week and/or if the gameplan would have been built more around his strengths, would it have had a different result?

That was my thought.  It wasn't much of a hit that completely knocked him out of the universe.  Clearly shouldn't have been on the field.

True. Gabe Davis torched the hell out of Spags in 2021 when he was saddled with some bums in the secondary.  You do need players.

Yup. Elam is unbelievable hot trash.

I get the no excuses, find a way to win attitude for sure .  But this injury to one of our best defensive players while the chiefs are mostly unscathed seems to happen every year lol it’s ridiculous.  Andy Reid definitely sold his soul to the devil after his time in Philly 😂

13 seconds year there were definitely big injuries on both sides which is why that game got so ridiculous down the stretch haha

Honestly, I’m more concerned with Benford. I’m sure the bills did everything right but it’s an awful look. He won’t get the attention of Tua but it’s bad.

also pathetic that a 1st round cb is such a weakness.

The defense could not have looked worse while Benford was in the game. Chiefs were on their 2nd possession and hadn't even faced a 3rd down yet

that's a good point, and he didn't look so great late vs baltimore.  i think he was banged up at some point in that game and was trying to soldier through.

i hope he's ok.

I dont understand how Elam goes from consistently inactive to the 3rd CB.

And they still thought he was an option... can AJ Klein play CB? lol oh wait...

Benford was getting picked on before Hamlin tried to kill him. Yea he had a PBU but he was still getting beat.
