Benford injury killed us

They rushed Benford back from protocol because they knew what was behind him. Then when  I saw that blank stare on his face in the golf cart I knew they rushed him back. This defense is horrendous when it counts they are soft as hell and let Kareem hunt  look like a pro bowler. Beane  tried to get by with it but this defense will never allow Josh to win a Super Bowl. Not ever. Beane needs to make a ahitload of changes this off-season.

He wasn't rushed back since an independent neurologist makes that call.

The defense was looking ropey even before Benford's injury. Though considering it ended up being a three point game...

If you believe the team didn’t “influence “ that “ diagnosis “ you don’t know how the nfl works. It’s just as corrupt as most of our government.

By neuter, you mean they taught him that he can't pull/tug/grab on the WR and hold him throughout the route.

 

Elam just doesn't have "it", to play NFL CB.  Define "it" as many things with Elam -- confidence, footwork, technique, eye discipline, etc.  He's a better true athlete, but looks lost on the field more often than not for a reason (and hint hint it's not because the coaching staff neutered his brain).

benford took a not super hard hit on the head from hamlin who has the padded helmet, and benford looked like joe biden on a bad day after the play.

 

i think he was rushed back and was not fit to play.  i really hope he doesn't have a real long term problem now.  

 

between him going in and no one being ready to replace him and the defensive melt down every year in the playoffs, i'm starting to think we might not have the greatest coaches!

Sauce clutches and grabs all day. Joey Porter Jr had similar issues, Steelers let him be who he is.

 

Bills wanted Elam to play soft and read and react. That’s not him.

I'm not getting into your last comment, but there is "influence" and agree with that part in the concussion protocol.

 

Not saying Buffalo pushed himself through it, there are many factors including what a player documents that can influence the decision to.

Let's see what happens when Elam is gone and with another scheme.  You act like it's a simple fact of letting Elam play aggressive/be himself ---- please call Coach's hotline immediately, we have a poster who thinks he has fixed Elam

No, Elam stinks now. He wasn’t this bad before. He’s playing soft as charmin now.

The defense could not have looked worse while Benford was in the game. Chiefs were on their 2nd possession and hadn't even faced a 3rd down yet

Part of it was the same fearful tactic we saw against Cincy in the playoffs. CBs way off the WRs while we blitz. Ridiculous, but we did bring the CBs up after they torched us for a bit. That bit was on the coaching. 

 

Elam spent his whole college career playing man coverage and grabbing receivers at the top of their routes. He still doesn’t have a good feel for zone and he can’t stick with agile receivers without grabbing them. I think he’s only still on the team because his whole contract is fully guaranteed. 

 

The only reason we drafted him is because Kansas City jumped us for McDuffie and we desperately needed a corner back. Thank goodness Beane was smart enough to double up and take Benford later in that draft.

Ya that's what I said immediately after, hope CB is good, he looked like he was on Mars, not good getting back to back concussions and needing the golf cart to leave the field..

 

I will say, the D did hold them to 11 in the 2nd half. Stop,stop and FG and gave us a chance . They've been great on both sides making adjustments all year

Looked like Benford had an ice pack on his right shoulder when in the cart. Wonder if he had more than just the concussion?
