Give me the names of 2 HCs that you think would be absolute upgrades and would achieve what you want.  Two that are better than Reid.

I heard this idea somewhere that the Bills should just hire Spags.  I'm a little weary our regular season win total given his head coaching history.  I would feel way better about our playoff chances against the Chiefs though.  I'm kidding by the way.

Re-watching that game it became pretty clear to me that our rosters were about equal but the coaches on KC mostly won in high leverage situations.  Our two 4th and goal conversions being the exception.  There was also a 4th and 1 conversion I believe right before the BS line spot on the following sequence.  That Cook 2nd TD run was just unreal and he's starting to win me over that this might be the rare occasion you do give a RB a 2nd contract.  Also, that one flip pass to Shakir with Allen dodging a free blitzer was a thing of beauty.  Allen's instincts are just incredible and I believe they're the best in the league QB wise.  I've never seen a quarterback point to a penalty in the pocket, make sure a flag is called, roll out of the pocket, and then throw deep to Coleman in double coverage because he knew it was a free play.

The Chiefs will always have that slight coaching advantage because it's like trying to compete with Lennon and McCarthy with Reid and Spags.  You can try your best but you won't win.  Just try and make it close and hope to get some breaks.  Maybe the rare bad half that Mahomes played in the '21 AFC Championship game against the Bengals happens in one of these games.  The only thing Beane and McDermott can realistically do is build a better roster.  It's not like they've ever been blown out by the Chiefs besides that 2020 AFC Championship game when they were puppies like the Commanders this year.

Mcdermott looks nice on paper...but honestly....this team would be in wild card contention with a 15 year old calling madden plays.

You can just see the difference between Reid and Mcdermott when they play each other. We blitz...Reid has more answers. They blitz we dont. Reid just has the team playing right at the right times.

At this point its worth trying something new.

We believe as long as Allen is on the team they can make a playoff run right? So why not look for something that could get us over that hump.

Or maybe he actually had faith in McDermott like he has stated multiple times publicly?

Im not qualified to do that so I cant give you an answer.

Actually you are as fully qualified as most GM's or owners in the league is .  The reason I say that is if they were more qualified, there's wouldn't be all the failures in the hires that happen regularly.

That was kind of the point of @oldmanfan the odds of getting anyone better when you consider all the failures is very low and no one knows who will be a success.  The Bills were lucky that they made a good choice in McD.

To the OP's point @Ramza86 that a 15 YO could get the team to the wild card. then how come  Mayfield failed in Cleveland (and Carolina)  and now looks great?  While not as long of a track record of success, but Darnold in Minn looked pretty darn good this year after years of failure.  Sis they all of a sudden figure things out or is it the coaching?

Yeah it's easy to say anyone can win in this league when you have a great superstar QB, but really not as easy as many think.

Are we assuming that Josh Allen doesnt want McDermott as head coach?  I think that is a pretty large assumption.

*If* Allen went to ownership asking for a different direction, I think ownership should consider that.

i know you are joking, but i'd hire spaggs and just have him leave the offense alone.  he runs the d, gives the O pointers on how easy some of our stuff is to beat, and he knows all about fat andy's tendencies.

at his worst he'd have our D allow mahomes his highest epa game of the season and highest success rate game of his career, which would exactly match what we just had (and our prior complete melt downs on D).  he'd also hurt the kc d by not being there, and that would be enough for us to have won that game.

Someone at my job just said there are reports that McDermott is leaving.  I'll believe it when I hear it.  Press conferences at 11 (Beane) and McDermott (2).

I believe there are two QBs in this league that can take ANY of the current 32 into the playoffs.

Allen and Lamar. Their skill set alone can and have been masking team deficiencies for the entirety of their careers.

It’s just fans assuming things. Allen has to recognize all the positive things McDermott has done for his career.

I would also struggle making one player the powerful despite how good they are. Roles are important in an organization.  When you let a player get too much power, it can blow up big time.

Not saying Mahomes is just pettiness.

Spags sucked as a head coach. You don’t think Mahomes and Reid, who go against his defense every day in practice, wouldn’t be able to scheme the crap out of it come playoffs???

the chiefs just cruise through regular seasons at this point and don’t show too much. They are just at a different level come playoff time.

It's not McDermott but it looks like the Pats are getting one of the Bills coaches of the defensive side of the ball if this report is true.

If Allen went to Pegula and said “him or me”, not so sure Pegula wouldn’t choose McD.

Has anyone noticed what a bumbling fool he has been for 14 years as owner of the Sabres?
