Joe's analysis and retrospective of the game is spot on but given how this front office and coaching staff operate I can see us having the same conversation in January 2026. Because I have no confidence they're going to do anything fundamentally different when it comes to the draft, free agency, scheme, and other aspects of the game.

I've never heard this fella's pod cast but i've heard of him and to me a lot of what he says makes total sense, that being said there are many here that don't here or don't want to here a word he says and the biggest being this was suppose to be a huge rebuilding year .

If this was a rebuilding year then what will next year hold in store with more draft picks, & a couple of really good FA's ?

Also this staff is very good at remembering what they did wrong and learning from those things .

McD was asked in his interview after the game what about missing this player and what about this player getting hurt in game to which i loved his response !

He said that those are excuses and we don't believe in using excuses or something like that . This guy will get it right i have all the faith in his leadership and the players do too i believe it's just to bad some here don't !

Every team has weaknesses

It's crazy that so many fans don't see that! Since we know the Bills full out, and not the other teams, we see all the team's weaknesses, but not theirs beyond the obvious. You think Beane is not aware of them? The salary cap exist for all teams. For all their weaknesses, the Bills had a dominant season and made it to the last 4. Do we like it? Hell no. We want it all for once. But their "weaknesses" are overall quite low. Y

Some fans are like the nagging wives, seeing all their husband's fault while praising other men. If Beane could simply hire that magical pass rusher and WR1, you don't think he would? All 32 teams want that!

What you miss is that in a “rebuild” year the Bills are very close. We are likely 1 or two players and about 5 plays away from breaking through.  The difference is razor thin. The truth of the matter is that the Bills have to renter the fight and it begins today. The upcoming changes to the roster are critical as is the process of self scouting.

Should the Bills just lay down and quit?

Actually that is a big part of my point. The margin is razor thin.

Based on things Beane has said post draft they have a group of players they like. They are content with getting any of them. But what they fail to do is be aggressive and identify and go after the best of the bunch and are happy letting others have first dibs then figure out who is left. They allow other teams to dictate who they take rather then get they guy at the tippy top. That's how we end up with Elam and Coleman instead of McDuffie and Worthy. In a game that was razor thin both of their guys in this instance made plays. Ours were a net negative and a disappearing act.

I like Brandon Beane. I just think his philosophy is a bit too passive. Being so very close to the Chiefs it would be great to see him run up the board and grab someone that can make an immediate impact instead of waiting to grab the guy that may be good 2 years from now. And no, I don't mean jumping 3 spots because there is only 1 guy left on their list. Especially in the first couple rounds.

The punishment on Josh Allen's body affords us little time for getting this wrong... Beane must prove that he can do it and I am not so sure. TALKING ABOUT IT and DOING IT are two totally different things.

We MUST have a pass rush, period. Not having one killed us when the Chiefs were ripe for the picking because that offensive line should have been exploited.

This is a fair point and I would add this offseason really is big in terms of the next 3-4 years as they have a youthful core that needs a bit more to push it over the edge. My counter point though is the Ravens were better this year than last regardless of record yet flamed out a game earlier. Yes more talent and resources can be added so the team has a larger margin of error and weapons to work with, but opportunity cost is real. Odds are they are not making the AFC title game the next 3 years straight and Josh has played half his prime. You had a truly golden chance to punch that ticket and missed. It is just as hard if not harder to get back to where they were on Sunday. I am not willing to write off this season as pure positive because the expectation was reload/reset when the big dance was right there. My confidence is admittedly shaken in the team and 17 so I won't comment further, but logically your more on point as is Joe than many of us want to hear right now.

Jesus christ.

What? You’re not enjoying watching this coaching staff light another year of Josh Allen’s career on fire every postseason?

I don't believe the margin is razor thin is the problem

If that game we just played vs chiefs gets run 100x I think we win fewer than 10. Maybe a lot fewer

Joe Marino offers an adult perspective on the loss. Perhaps his best quote came via Beane:

”strengths get you to the playoffs, weaknesses get you eliminated”

The Bills were in a rebuild year and they had several weaknesses.

This is worth a listen.

I appreciate that you posted this.  Thanks.  Unfortunately, not going to get far encouraging adult perspective around here after a disappointing loss.

Washington, having just had the 2nd pick in the draft with a new HC, have just won 2 road games and are picking 1 spot ahead of us this year.

They got to the same position as us in year 1!

KC wins the Super Bowl in their rebuilding year, extra salt in the wound for many.

We have 0 road playoff wins under McDermott as is widely known.

It feels like nothing will change this offseason in terms of scheme or coaching.
