Real Story behind the Buffalo Bills playoff woes. Josh Allen has every right to be Mad.

Defense got the FG stop when they needed it. Allen had the game in his hands (again) with three minutes left. He was inaccurate all night. And of course immediately tried to bail to the sideline on the corner blitz. Allen shoulders plenty of blame.

Sadly, I agree with this.  Not to say the defense played a brilliant game - they didn't - but they did get a crucial stop, forcing a FG, which gave the team a chance to win.  They did last year too, even with the MASH unit.  In neither case did the offense pull it out.

I love Josh Allen and would not trade him for anyone, but I believe that if the shoe was on the other foot - the Chiefs got the ball, down 3, with 3 minutes left on the clock, they would have driven down and scored to tie or win the game.  Regardless of the opponent.  Maybe Andy Reid just calls better plays, or maybe Mahomes just has the clutch gene, and maybe they get help from the refs, but these f'ers always find a way to get it done.  The Bills are a great team, but at this point the Chiefs are just a little bit better when it really counts.

So the defense being atrocious is a flawed argument. I've heard everything now. So why do the Chiefs consistently score the most of the Bills defense vs. every other playoff team? They don't score this much on the Niners, Ravens, or Bengals. Just the Bills.

So the Bills defense is atrocious for allowing 32 pts to be scored, but KC's defense is dominant for allowing 29?

I don't get it.

allow me

we are a top scoring offense that got held under our season avg by a dominant performance from KC defense

meanwhile our defense allowed the most points a mediocre Chiefs offense scored all season in an atrocious display

Watching this team year after year in the playoffs while hoping and praying the defense can actually make a big stop when it matters is really grinding down my enthusiasm for this team.

They made the stop. Allen and Brady choked.

We needed to make hay on early downs on that last drive and did not.  Way too conservative,  too many short passes and expecting guys to get yards after the catch.

Two weeks in a row that Brady played in too conservative,  this is passing league and teams that pass the football well when it counts usually win.

At the end of the day. The defense forced the FG to give the Bills a chance at the end. 3:30 with 3 timeouts. They only managed 1 first down!! Brady and Josh choked.

Two years in a row, we got what we wanted. Josh Allen with the ball in his hands on the final possession to go win the game. He failed both times. It’s hurts to say it because I love Josh but I have to call a spade a spade.

Has any athlete, across any sport, been let down by their team as much as Josh Allen has?

Josh has 9 TDs and 0 turnovers in the last 3 playoff losses to the Chiefs.

Bills DEF has forced 5 punts and 2 turnovers over those 3 games.

We did make stops on defense. Most importantly, that last chiefs FG where Allen had a chance to win on the last drive.

Defense surrendered 32 points.  Where do you place most of the blame?

At some point, he will have to be the greatest man amongst us to not let bitterness and frustration with his teammates and coaching staff seep in.

To do what he does against the Chiefs in the playoffs and be 0-4, with the same issues plaguing the team/staff around him every time… I just don’t know how that doesn’t affect you negatively.

Agree 100%.  There are so many bozos on this message board today and when the day come that Allen is gone and we fall back into 3 yards and a cloud of dust on offense, maybe they'll realize then how lucky we have it right now to have Allen as our QB.

THIS right here is it.  By most people's standards Allen played well enough to win last night.  Missed some throws, rushed a few plays and wasn't perfect.  Also he's one of the biggest if not THE biggest reasons Buffalo had a chance to win the game in the end.  Your quote is exactly what is wrong about the current state of this team.  If Allen isn't perfect or nearly perfect in the playoffs, and even then sometimes when he is nearly perfect, it's still not good enough to get the win.  Mahomes had the fumble/turnover, back to back pointless drives to start the 2nd half, and only led his team down the field for 3 points late in the 4th quarter instead of 7 which would have given the Chiefs a lot of breathing room.   He played well enough to win but was by no means perfect.  Not even close to perfect.  Yet his teammates make huge plays in big moments and they have a 'team' win because of it.

What’s the point of having a defensive-minded head coach if the D can’t get it done in the playoffs?

Chiefs were averaging 24 points all season –– hadn’t scored over 30 all season –– until they met Sean's D in the playoffs.

After leaking 32 points. Well done, defense. Great job.

I have a feeling he has had just about enough.

He's tired of being letdown by the D

Tired of his HC getting consistently outcoached by Reid.

Tired of having no legit weapons

He won't come out and say it. But he's probably thinking the exact same thing everyone else is.

The ball was there to be caught by Kincaid. No, it wasn't a simple catch. But an NFL player needs to make that catch.

Just out of curiosity, what output did Kincaid and Coleman have on the evening?  Worthy had a clutch contested grab and seems like a pretty impactful game...

I'm willing to guess the Bills duo delivered very little.  We just seem to get so little from out skill position, outside of Cook.

The Bills have lost in the playoffs because of their defense. Which begs the question, why is McDermott our coach? What does he bring to the table if not a good defense? He's also bad at the other coach stuff too. Doesn't make sense.

The body of evidence is mounting, while 2 years ago you give him the BOTD.  Make a change, with Allen the Bills are a playoffs team no matter who coaches.  Who coordinates a nasty and violent defense these days?

Frankly, while HOF coaches Spags and Reid brought the pain for sure, JA17 wasn't very good last night.

Let's spread the criticism around to all the appropriate parties.  Spags took the scramble away, and for whatever reason Josh simply wasn't his usual surgical self from the pocket last night.   And the big bad O Line got handled in crunch time.   They got worked by the higher talent, higher energy, HOF coached team last night.

And they still almost pulled it off at the end.   Go Bills.

KC's coaches "manage" the regular season, and shift into a new gear in the playoffs.  They have a different mentality.  They look so much better prepped last night, on both sides of the ball.  We kind of looked like it was a regular season game after a bye.

I'm not saying our defense didn't play poorly but don't act like the offense didn't struggle. It's a team sport

would it be too hard for josh to pass up a chance to play for the 49ers if this continues? don't take him for granted. there's no guarantee we get his whole career.

The 49ers are hot & cold.

Kyle Shanahan is a brilliant offensive mind, but c'mon man he's 70-62, traded 3 #1s for Trey Lance, lucked out on Purdy. He's not as "genius" as made out to be. He also was culpable in the Falcons blowing a 28-3 lead in the SB.

Being a Bills fan ( Raiders, Jets, Browns, Lions, Vikings) just feels like watching a dark film noir and you know the character is a hero but is check mated.

You could say having all 3 timeouts left before the 2 min warning that the D needs a crucial stop to get Allen back the ball for a TD or FG attempt, no?

Which the unit failed at.

The Chiefs score this much against the Bills because they have to.  In other words, if the Bills had a lesser offense and scored fewer points, the Chiefs would play more conservatively and score fewer points, but still enough to win the game.  The Chiefs have the ability to do what is necessary to win the game and if that means opening up their offense to do it, then that's what they do.  The Chiefs scored 23 points against the Texans and it was more than enough to win, as the Texans only scored 14.  Had the Texans put up 28, the Chiefs would have scored in the 30s.

This isn't to say that the Bills defense doesn't need to improve - it definitely does.  But it's an answer to the question of why the Chiefs score more against the Bills than against other teams.

So the Niners, Bengals, and Ravens can't score like the Bills? I understand what you're saying, but it still comes down to the Bills defense being horrendous against good competition.

The Ravens, Chiefs, Eagles, Niners, Bengals, Rams all play one another much better defensively than the Bills do. Even the Ravens last week could've scored 14 more points easily if they didn't hand the game away through turnovers.

Offense scored 29 points. The offense by any metric played better than avg. The defense gave up 32 points. By every metric that is terrible. Especially when your offense didn't turn the ball over and give the opposing team a short field. Bills defense is the reason the Bills haven't broken through.

I've seen the Ravens, Niners, and Bengals all slow down Mahomes. The Bills can't do it. This is a issue and it needs to be addressed.

I said it in the middle of the season: we can't spot a team 7 points by letting them routinely score their first drive.  That was the difference yesterday. We never come out ready.  It's embarrassing and on the HC.
