The ball was there to be caught by Kincaid. No, it wasn't a simple catch. But an NFL player needs to make that catch.

Allen wasn’t pissed with this teammates in his postgame - he was mad that he shifted protection left on the 4th and 5 when Spags drew up the blitz.

 

Allen did not play exceptionally well today.  Cook was the most effective offensive player by far.  Allen was good, but good doesn’t beat the chiefs in arrowhead.

The result was more or less what I expected. A lot of others here might share this expectation. The big reason I felt that way is the Bills defense is a statistical illusion. Sure they're always right up there in the rankings for takeaways and other stats but they just don't pass the eye test when it comes to the playoffs. 3 games and the opponent scores a TD on their opening drive in each game. That's not the makings of a championship defense. This unit needs a complete rebuild starting with the soft zone scheme that gets picked to pieces in the playoffs. This defense needs a makeover in personnel Beane needs to focus almost all of the teams draft and free agent money on the defense. While they do have some good players more is needed. And quick.

 

Watching this team year after year in the playoffs while hoping and praying the defense can actually make a big stop when it matters is really grinding down my enthusiasm for this team. Fix this defense or we'll never smell the Super Bowl even with a generational talent at QB.

Giving the QB "a chance to be a hero" is not the hallmark of a good defense.  The entire Bills game plan revolves around compensating for a defense that can't match up against the better QBs/Olines

No QB can play absolutely 

I wouldn't say he's had just about enough but agree it has to be creeping into his brain.

 

No QB can play absolutely perfect,  but Josh is at the top of his game and so at some point he's going to realize the FO isn't good enough if things don't change.

The Bills have lost in the playoffs because of their defense. Which begs the question, why is McDermott our coach? What does he bring to the table if not a good defense? He's also bad at the other coach stuff too. Doesn't make sense.

Yep.  He's supposed to be a defensive "guru" and his defenses have been absolutely brutal in the playoffs.  You could argue that Beane is just as much to blame since the personnel on defense has been highly suspect every year.  But McDipshit has a say in personnel too so....

Just look at how Brady started the second half against the Ravens,  the conservative play calling let the Raven back into the game and if Andrews does not drop that ball then maybe we don't get past them.  The Bills need bigger/faster players on defence

This is the problem. Mahomes many times has needed an entire half to get into rhythm and his defense allowed him because they shut down the opposing offense. Every QB has experienced this. Part of why I think Lamar is overrated because his defense has given him so many opportunities.

 

Bills defense never affords Allen a solid 1st half whenever they play a good team. Let me know when the Bills shut down the Chiefs or Bengals in the 1st half and hold them to 10 points? They don't. They haven't. Allen has to be clicking on all cylinders every time we play these teams. No other QB has to be on as much as Allen. It's ridiculous. All that said Allen still put up 29 points. Blaming this on Allen is futile.

Josh Allen has 25 tds and 4 turnovers in 13 playoff games. 

 

Bills defense have now surrendered 38, 42, 27, and 32 points in all four of their losses to the Chiefs. What makes this STAT most alarming is each one of those scores was the most points the Chiefs scored that year in the playoffs. 

 

Bills have a defense issue and it is painfully obvious they will never win until this is addressed. Allen basically has to come out slinging immediately because his defense does not give him time to breathe. I've watched Mahomes, Brady, Burrow, Manning all struggle early in games only to win because their defense made multiple stops in the first half. Bills defense have serious problems against elite competition and this is year 5 of this mess. 

I personally thought the D played well yesterday.  We lost because of offense.  Brady was terrible and I don’t want him back after such a horrible outing.  0/2 on 2 pt conversions.  Tush push was seemingly our only play and like a spoiled toddler he kept trying it no matter how much it didn’t work.  No one was schemed  open on passing plays.  Josh has to manufacture everything.  like the chiefs, who on 3rd/9 with the game on the line, schemed a dude wide the freak open for an easy 15 yards.  EASY.  
 

where was that play for us Brady?!?!?  You have a dozen tries where’s the play!!  No play action with mid direction crossing route to a RB or TE to be wide open ?!  Why no pass to Alec Anderson the tackle eligible?!  There was nothing and it was embarrassing.

McD is far from perfect but I lay a lot of the responsibility for the issues on the GM and his staff. If I'm being honest and objective, I need to say the Chiefs, Ravens, Eagles, Lions, and maybe Houston absent losing all their WRs during the season, and a couple other teams have more talented rosters than the Bills. 

 

If you look at this year's draft only Davis and Carter made significant contributions. If anyone wants to, we can throw Coleman into the mix with 29 receptions for 556 yards but those numbers are nothing special. 

 

You can use the excuse they're drafting at the back of the round the last 5 or 6 years but so is the competition, the Chiefs, and Ravens. And their GM and scouting departments are doing a superior job of identifying players and replenishing the roster with better talent.

Conclusion: Mahomes defensive guru Spags gives up 8.8 points less per game than McDermott led defenses. 
 

Let’s analyze some of our misses. In 2021 NFL Draft Brandon Beane missed on Boogie Basham, 3 picks later KC drafted All-Pro Creed Humphrey. 2022 KC traded up for All-Pro Trent McDuffie. Beane traded up after to grab Kaiir Elam. 
 

 

Spags wasn’t their DC in 2018. They fired their crappy DC because he sucked and was allowing tons of points, then they won 3 Superbowls.

Frankly, while HOF coaches Spags and Reid brought the pain for sure, JA17 wasn't very good last night.   

 

Let's spread the criticism around to all the appropriate parties.  Spags took the scramble away, and for whatever reason Josh simply wasn't his usual surgical self from the pocket last night.   And the big bad O Line got handled in crunch time.   They got worked by the higher talent, higher energy, HOF coached team last night. 

 

And they still almost pulled it off at the end.   Go Bills.

This is not the year to rip McD.  This roster was so wildly outmatched all over the field - Beane should be embarrassed.  
 

Dis anyone watch the other playoff games? I see dudes way better than our dudes making plays all over the field.  We don’t have dudes like that.  
 

seriously, other than Allen, who on our team would start on the Eagles?  A health Milano and Allen.  But you can’t count on Milano being healthy anymore so Literally it would only be Allen!!!

 

And Allen wouldn’t even start on the chiefs!!! 

 

As much as we love our guys- this roster sucks.  It’s not a playoff roster at all.  McD got us 13 wins and the the AFC championship game with a below average roster and Allen.  I think we should be happy with that.

 

no Brady.  Brady ticks me off and I blame that on McD.  We should have hire Kliff Kingsbury like I wanted.
