cant disagree with most of what’s being said but the fact at the start of the presented argument where Colin puts the failure to convert short yardages on McD is weird. McD made the right decisions to go for it each and every time.

Play calling put them in a bad position to be in where they had to go for that several times. Play calling and execution was the reason we didn’t convert. Can’t put that on McD.

What I do put on McD is why he didn’t assert to Brady to stop going to it.

This is essentially what Cowherd is saying and why he blames McD. The buck stops at the HC. Anything that happens is because the HC allowed it to happen.

Yeah, I get that which is why I highlighted that too. But come on man… you’re talking about an OC that was in consideration for a HC job himself. he has to do better without being told.

Wouldn’t even think twice. I’d do it in a heartbeat. Makes us better and makes KC worse. Never going to happen but I’d do it the day after the Super Bowl if he wanted

People don’t think Reid could beat the spagnuolo defense? Haha heck joe Brady dropped 29 and 30 on them and this one we should’ve scored more

And Andy Reid never won a Super Bowl in Philly. But the Eagles have won one and been to 2 since he left (now 3).

Goes to show, sometimes teams need to move on from good coaches in order to take the next step.

They moved on from the coach, the QB and most of the team.  Reid’s final season was 2012.  They won it all under Peterson in 2017 with a nearly completely different roster.  So we should dismiss McD, trade Allen and hope in 5 years they can rebuild the team again?

Well I know what we have now isn’t working. At all. So what’s your point? Also you don’t think overall the chiefs are hurt without him as THEIR DC?

Like dude said… Pivot away from it when it’s not working.

Our obsession was our demise.

Idk I think this is getting a bit overblown…if you pass on a sneak on 4th and inches and don’t get it it is probably the single dumbest, most criticized decision in recent memory..

every sneak picked up those few inches we needed on that final 4th down one including the final fourth down one to anyone with eyes 😂

Brandon Staley has had some time to recuperate as assistant in San Francisco.  Wasn't he purported to be some kind of wunderkind ? 🙄

Failing that, McDaniel (no s) in Miami could be given his wish about being colder. 😁

That's totally fair... But the HC has been saying himself it's their best play all year. Do we know 100% that it's not McD telling him to run it over and over again?

I get the idea of moving on from McDermott, but I don't know who the unicorn coach is that would be worth making this very disruptive change for. Is there anyone available who's a bona fide slam dunk?

Maybe. Maybe he's following McD's guidance on how we want to treat those situations? Wont ever know. But either way, it all rolls up to the HC.

Very fair perspective. Could very well be. Like many things we’ll never know.

Logically you’d like to think that a HC and a HC candidate could make a decision against something you struggled with the week before and we’re struggling and getting stopped on again.

I just don’t see Reid and his guy Nagy (even though you know the plays are Reid’s decision finally) doing anything remotely similar. They’re running that play more than once just to set you up for something else.

Plenty of opportunity to add a wrinkle in.

Again, our obsession was ultimately our demise.

I'd take him just to get him away from KC and it would be an upgrade for us.  KC's D clearly carried them again this year and unlike our defensive schemes which always seem to be a step behind and blitzes that don't fool anybody, his actually work and disrupt the opposing offense.

Our crap D held Reid to 21 earlier this year and they were 15th in the league points/game.  Heck, 2 teams in their division scored more points than they did.

It's not happening, but one of the best things that could happen to indirectly help us would be for Spags to leave.

I think spagnuolo is a miserable head coach which is why no one else rolled the dice on him and now he’s pretty much aged out of getting another chance.  Reid would absolutely spank him if he jumped ship to an afc team

feels like you’d hurt the chiefs a little to hurt yourself a lot to me..don’t think spags brings much value without a Chris jones/Michael strahan type guy which we don’t currently have. He’s been good with hof guys of that caliber and terrible everywhere else he’s been..  everyone just has short memories

We aren’t going to ever win with this defense. It’s truly not to the point where why bother? Either change something that might get you there, or you are just accepting the fact that you won’t win. I don’t want to be like that. I’m trying to get 1. You have to take a chance here otherwise we are wasting Josh’s career

I mean I respect the opinion but to me you are nuking Josh’s career with a move like that haha so I gotta agree to disagree.  An offensive drive to seal the game is pretty much the ceiling that every coach/defense in the league has hit outside of that TB game where for once they were the team with the bad injury luck/getting hit with penalties.

People just play this game where ‘well if we borrow the ravens defense from this game and pair it with the bills offense from this game we’d win’ but that isn’t at all how it works.

It’s shortsighted saying ‘there’s nothing to lose…we’ll always make the playoffs the playoffs and be good in the regular season’ yada yada.  Even just falling from perennial 2 seed to perennial 4 makes the playoff run much harder most years.
