People who talk about moving on from McDermott also should give suggestions on who they would like to see hired as the Bills HC?  I mean - don't just sit and give your comments, but also on how to fix it.

Would you hire Doug Pederson or get Bellichek on a plane ?  Will you go after Chucky ? Are is there one of those magical HC who could take us to the next step...may be get Sean Payton from the Broncos?

Josh is phenomenal.  He wasn't tonight.  He also doesn't play in an offensive system.   He plays sandlot football which is fun.  Mahomes, Brady and the greats are machines because they know where to go within their system.  Our Offense is a scramble drill.

That's because our coaching SUCKS. McDermott and Brady both. They never do anything to help him. Ever.

Its basically parallels the colts vs patriots era..we are Tony Dungys colts part two...an elite passer combined with a soft zone coverage defence built to bend not break...meanwhile the chiefs are the Patriots an Elite qb built with an aggressive defence that attacks...reid is the offensive vefsion of Belichick and sean is basically dungy great motivator and leader of men but doesnt peform

And what happened when Dungy left the Bucs? I think Dungy is actually an excellent comparable to McDermott.

The problem is, Pegula is incompetent and we were lucky to hire the quality of front office and coaching that we have. It is almost certainly that any replacement would be much much worse.

They had a chance at Harbaugh and Belichick last season.  Now sadly there are very few options left.

If they wanted to really go all in - they would trade a first round pick for Sean McVay.  Stafford is probably retiring and they are probably going to take a step back.

Bills can win with a better offensive mind calling the plays.

Your not going to find a coach on the street that can out coach Andy Reid, he's the greatest big game offensive mind that's ever lived.

Which leads me to where the I think the heat should be turned up. Beane.

Hes had some excellent later picks, Benford, Bernard, brown, Johnson ect. And the chiefs have had some whifs like CEH.

But other than cook, how much did Rousseau, Elam, boogie, Coleman, epenesa, help us tonight?

Versus how much did creed, worthy, karlaftis, bolton, mcduffie help the chiefs tonight?

In my opinion the bills are being out drafted and out coached. Out coaching Andy Reid is pretty much impossible, so what can you do to improve?

The whole organization is to blame for Elam being picked on today, hurting the Bills pass defense.  First of all, since the Bills play heavy zone coverage, they used a 1st round pick on Elam, known for man coverage.  Of course it initially sounds like trying to put a square peg in a round hole but they must’ve felt his talent could help him make the transition.  It didn’t work in Year 1 and he was beaten out for the starting CB position by Benford, the 7th round pick of the same draft.

The organization must have thought Elam could develop as they’ve kept him on the roster for now 3 seasons.  However, he has spent most games as an inactive.

Go into this season and this game and Elam is the 3rd CB?   They should’ve been better prepared since Benford had been in concussion protocol.   Correct me if I’m wrong, but the NFL seems to be loose with their roster rules as teams seem to add players to their roster during the playoffs.    Yes, I can already hear the comments about bringing in a street free agent and expecting him to do any better with no familiarity of the system.

We all saw Elam out there today and he was not good.  I’ve seen Cam Lewis make more plays so I don’t know why he was not inserted into the lineup to replace Benford.

I'd take any of those guys.  I'd also take McCarthy.

I'd jump to the moon if they got bellicheck out of nc

This isn't the year to move on from McDermott

The bills were a young/ inexperienced team. Really weren't expected to be as good as they were. This was never supposed to be the Superbowl season (that's the next two seasons)

Might have been his best coaching season

Get some experience and more talent at the positions of need - safety, corner, pass rusher , and pass catcher

Young and inexperienced?  Where do you come up with that?  Only two rookies were on the field - Bishop and Coleman as WR#4.  Kincaid and Torrance were the only 2nd year players to play meaningful snaps.  Everyone else is a solid veteran.  This is the same BS thing McDermott said in this PC.

Look I get it, McDermott has been a great coach and person for the community. But at what point are his short comings in big time games more his flaw vs just bad luck? Tony Dungy couldn't get it done in Tampa, left got Gruden and won, and even then Dungy was all world regular season but couldn't win the big game in Indy outside of one-year.

For a coach who's scheme and learning was under Jim Johnson in Philly and the vaunted Double A gap formation, he's had some really sub par defensive performances. We all know KC runs spinner roll out right in big moments and we don't have a defensive play call to stop it. Where as KC knows Allen rolls out right in big moments or tries to sneak left...KC had their defense ready for both. I get it, this is frustration of falling short again, but at some point we need to buck the trend of falling short in KC again and again and again

Short answer Yes, we are  wasting Josh’s best years.

Problem is all the good coaches are picked over by now. So not really anyone you can go after. I wouldn’t mind trading for Sean McVay. But I doubt the rams would do that

Allen isn't as good as Mahomes.  That's what this comes down too.   Mahomes is a stone cold killer who knows where to go in every instance and makes quick decisions.  Josh drops back waits and then plays sandlot football.  He is immensely gifted but he's not a champion.

Somehow, too many on this board discount how cerebral Mahomes is as well as his leadership.

Pretending that it's purely coaching or the other skill players is a bad coping mechanism.

Dungy also took a SB caliber team in Tampa and went 9-7 before getting fired.

Except every other team they faced held him to fewer points than McDermott and his defense did.  So actually it is mostly coaching.

Elams note book on the draft visit absolutely played beane and McD. And once again the chiefs master classed beane by trading up and forcing beane to panic and over draft Elam. And then draft karlaftis right after Elam. Playoff games are decided by inches, how many more inches did the chiefs get with mcduffie and karlaftis vs Elam. Or probably even worse creed vs boogie. Better coaching and better drafting will be impossible for the bills to overcome without a degree of luck.

Ok, tell me why he's a worse coach?  Is it because he only won one w a HOF QB?  Do you think his side of the ball has under performed MCDs side of the ball?

Honest question, why is he a worse option than our current coach?

Could have been McDermott last year if the Bills didn’t go on a run (and the Dolphins didn’t choke away the division).

Yeah there’s no way they trade him for anything other than a kings ransom.

If you’re interested in the offensive approach, I’d be interested to give Kliff Kingsbury another shot. He’s obviously not going to be an OC with how this year turned out so it would have to be an HC gig.

He’s pissed away as much talent as any other HC out there. Especially with those Cowboys. Decent coach, not amazing. The difference between him and some of these other guys is he’s not highly regarded in the locker room with his players. That’s a serious problem for me as a fan. Especially if things in a season aren’t going the way that is intended/expected.
