Monty98 Posted yesterday at 03:07 AM Posted yesterday at 03:07 AM Look I get it, McDermott has been a great coach and person for the community. But at what point are his short comings in big time games more his flaw vs just bad luck? Tony Dungy couldn't get it done in Tampa, left got Gruden and won, and even then Dungy was all world regular season but couldn't win the big game in Indy outside of one-year. For a coach who's scheme and learning was under Jim Johnson in Philly and the vaunted Double A gap formation, he's had some really sub par defensive performances. We all know KC runs spinner roll out right in big moments and we don't have a defensive play call to stop it. Where as KC knows Allen rolls out right in big moments or tries to sneak left...KC had their defense ready for both. I get it, this is frustration of falling short again, but at some point we need to buck the trend of falling short in KC again and again and again 7 2 3 1 3 1 3 10 Quote

HappyDays Posted yesterday at 03:09 AM Posted yesterday at 03:09 AM No I'll lay off him this offseason because he got us further than expected. We have a middling roster and probably didn't even deserve to be here today. All things considered the game winning plays were there to be made and the players failed to execute them. 13 22 2 1 Quote
Brandon Posted yesterday at 03:11 AM Posted yesterday at 03:11 AM (edited) Yes. I don't think this loss is entirely his fault, as they have some serious talent deficiencies in the defensive backfield and at WR. That being said, you can't give up 30+ points per game in losses in the playoffs as a defensive HC, nor can you go 0-4 against the same team in the playoffs. There has to be some accountability at some point and I think we're at that stage. Edited yesterday at 03:12 AM by Brandon 7 1 3 Quote
TheBrownBear Posted yesterday at 03:11 AM Posted yesterday at 03:11 AM It's tough. I like Sean. Good guy. Good coach. But clearly not good enough when it matters most. Not sure we can do better. I think Reid, Spags and Mahomes are just special and better than our guys. Just bad timing more than anything. 4 2 1 Quote

VaMilBill Posted yesterday at 03:14 AM Posted yesterday at 03:14 AM I love McD as a coach. He’s built a great culture, developed a lot of players, but I do think Terry needs to consider moving on. If we stick with McD for two more years, we’ve basically burnt Josh’s prime and are on the backside of our “window”. Now is the time to make the move realizing there will be growing pains with a new coach, system, players, etc. That being said, Terry needs to sell season tickets for the new stadium, the Sabres have been a disaster and we win a lot. For all those reasons I don’t see him making the move. Quote
White Linen Posted yesterday at 03:15 AM Posted yesterday at 03:15 AM (edited) I think it is, but we'll never find the courage to do it. Ownership is petrified of making a mistake. We'll just have to wait for someone to beat the Chiefs for us one year and luck into a Superbowl. Edited yesterday at 03:16 AM by White Linen Quote
Blainorama5 Posted yesterday at 03:15 AM Posted yesterday at 03:15 AM Absolutely not. Want to set a team back YEARS? Starting firing coaches because you're pissed about coming up short. KC is Really hard to beat at home - for anybody. We need a more reliable secondary and way better pass rushing before we need a new coach. just my .02 4 1 1 5 Quote

The Frankish Reich Posted yesterday at 03:15 AM Posted yesterday at 03:15 AM No. You fire McDermott and see what the next guy brings. Stick with the program (the process? haha) even when it gets frustrating. 1 Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted yesterday at 03:16 AM Posted yesterday at 03:16 AM He should have been fired after 13 seconds. He let Josh get overhyped again in the big game He let Brady keep calling the same play that wasn't working. Somehow Cooper again did not get on the field enough. His defense made two plays all game. The question is why keep him???? He brings nothing. Problem is Ben Johnson is already hired. I guess you could go after Spags. Harbaugh and Belichick are taken. It's just so sad we are stuck with this loser for another year. 6 4 1 2 2 Quote
H2o Posted yesterday at 03:17 AM Posted yesterday at 03:17 AM He's like Tony Dungy. Good guy, but could never break through with Tampa. They let him go. Same should be considered here, but we don't have a young Jon Gruden in the wings. 1 Quote
Fetou Posted yesterday at 03:17 AM Posted yesterday at 03:17 AM They are never going to. The defense will always be a disaster that stacks the game against Josh. He has to take that opportunity to win the game at the end only down 3. It will never be any better than that opportunity with this team 1 Quote

I've been saying this for several years and tonight only makes me feel more certain about it. The defense is not going to be what saves us. We need to have an offense capable of putting up 40 on KC. Make the defense practically a non-factor. Two years in a row we've tried to slay the dragon with small ball grind it out football. It's not working. Give me the Josh Allen air show while still retaining the ability to run the ball. 2 Quote

Amaru523 Posted yesterday at 03:18 AM Posted yesterday at 03:18 AM 0% chance he gets fired this year or next, but if he can't get the job done next year I think his seat will start to get warm. 2 1 Quote
