Hard to beat the Chiefs and the refs every post-season

Just saw a replay of the Worthy non-catch. I hadn’t realized the RT hooked and tackled Smoot to the ground as he got around him. But they call the hold on Hamlin. At the very least it should’ve been offsetting penalties because that was a sack.

And another one chimes in that the spot was BS.

 

Dean Blandino, rules analyst for Fox says he believes Allen has the first down and said the judge who had a clearer picture of the ball shouldn't have ceded his spot to the guy who has Allen's back in view and not the ball.

It'd be ironic if they did start using chips in balls after this - another rule change after the Bills lose to the Chiefs in the post season.

It's just unfortunate that once again the reffing stole the show in a big game. The fact that it seems there is no effort to improve it might be the biggest reason people call conspiracy for the Chiefs.

Listening to an Andy Reid interview today..  a couple things stood out.

 

- Mahomes purposely does not run much until late in the season and playoffs.  Then they cut him loose a bit, they had a few plays designed for him.

- Andy admitted he keeps a few special play calls in his back pocket for special moments.  He did that vs Buf including the last play to Perrine to clinch it.

- He said Buffalo is a unique rivalry, he respects the hell out of Sean Mcd, and the Bills tend to bring out the very best in KC.  

- He coaches Mahomes differently now than he did 4-5 years ago.  His feel for the game is so much better now, he asks Pat what he likes to run now.

Pretty much Chiefs fans are the only ones calling us crybabies. Would be awesome if he did. I saw a reel of Josh after each Chiefs loss looking more and more dejected. I wish some of our players would get angry. It might bring more heat onto the issue.

I stay away from social media. It's been maybe 4 years now could be more. Anyway, I don't hear a lot about what others are saying. Mainly just sports media and I haven't listened to a second of it since the game (other than postgame wgr). This board is typically how I check the pulse of what's going on. The tricky thing in here is typically you can't be critical until after a loss unless you're specific  posters. So it makes it harder to know exactly what the vibe is. WGR are kinda going to keep it basic and outside media tend to sway with the mob mentality. Idk but it's good to hear that others are noticing and speaking out.

The last drive was frenetic, not composed. McD should have challenged that spot, if for no other reason to make sure they had the right play for 4th down (if the challenge failed). The plow had been nearly stopped the last time, it was a bad call for this. A QB run to the corner, a jet sweep, or Cook back in the game were ALL better options. Agreed 100% should’ve been challenged. Even KC used one of their timeouts to get their ***** together. In such an important game it’s worth it if it leads to an extended drive in Chiefs territory.

Not only that, look at what the RG does to Von. Both are absolutely holding and allow him to even make the throw.

I will say this once again about the third down spot......that happened right in front of the Bills bench.  AND if you take a minute and watch the replay....his elbow is down before he extends the ball.  ....so again...the Bills entire bench was staring right at this in real time....IF they saw a bad spot, they surely would have challenged it...and I am sure someone is in Seans ear telling him they'd seen the replay and it was a good spot...no challenge.  No need to wast the timeout there. 

 

If you disagree with this then make a case why there was no challenge flag thrown?

I have one solution: I want to hear the conversations live when plays are being replayed between the head ref and NY league office on the broadcast. If they are just talking about rules, there should be no problem. Or are they talking about something else? I’d rather hear that convo live than Brady or Romo or nantz

You post about specifics in probabilities but you know that they didn’t challenge to save the timeout in the event there wasn’t concrete evidence to overturn the call. They trusted the Josh push again. Why? I’ll have no idea. 
 

Ironically, lack of evidence and play call was what they deemed and we failed on the ensuing play being a conversion on downs. 
 

Win some, lose some. 
 

Game should never come down to one bad call or decision and in the bigger picture, it didn’t. We had opportunities to take control of the game again but didn’t. 
 

Credit to the coaching staff for stuffing the short yardage game and, another irony, being better at converting theirs.

What triggers the sky judge is an absolute mystery to me.  They need to set rules/standards for the sky judge to keep things fair.  I'm just talking in general about it.
