DrDawkinstein Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Wondering if anyone else has a tank at home, and how serious you are into it. My dad and I had a pretty sweet 55 gallon when I was a kid, but we only knew so much in the 80s/90s with no internet to help us. Still had a successful tank with happy fish that stayed alive for years and years. But lots I'd do different today (it was all plastic plants, probably a bit overstocked, etc). Fast forward 30 years and now I have a 20 gallon setup for my daughter. Trying to do it the "right" way this time. Real plants, sand bottom, driftwood decorations, etc. Currently just stocked with a Black Moor, a Dwarf Gourami, a Plecko, and a handful of snails (whole story there). What you got?!? Quote
Augie Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I admired a large aquarium at a restaurant once, and my parents gave us a 55 gallon aquarium as a result. It was a lot of work. We had saltwater fish, and the $20 fish would always eat the $60 fish. Keeping it properly balanced and with the proper fish eventually led to us hiring a service. That was expensive. The gift that kept on giving. Having said all that, it was absolutely beautiful and I’m glad we had it while the kids were young. 1 Quote

ESPECIALLY so for saltwater tanks. I've only messed with freshwater which is a bit easier, but still regular maintenance. I'm currently dealing with a bit of an algae issue and did 2 water changes today (mostly to keep my mind off waiting for the game lol). Seems like it's always something, but the fish are generally healthy and happy(?). Quote

I've got childhood memories of the fish tanks at Pane's. It's usually the first thing people bring up about that place lol Quote
US Egg Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Has the Nemo effect faded? Seems there were a lot of issues regarding the craze created by this little guppy. Quote
