Calls will be missed. But the consistent short spots of Bills gains is what makes me question the integrity of the officiating. It happened multiple times.

I wonder if this had to do with how they sort of combine ref crews for the playoffs. I wonder if you had some guys working the sidelines that don’t normally do that?

The spots were wildly off all night.

Groot is so inconsistent which means Beane will resign him.  He flashes early in the season and then disappears during the season as a pass rusher with the exception of a couple plays.

”He’s young…”

”He’s still learning the position/basics…”

”He’ll grow into the role…”

For $20m+ per year? No thanks.

Oh one turnover. Hang out the bunting and give everyone extra long contracts.

That was the first time the Chiefs have managed to score over 30 on any team this year. Eighteen games, they couldn't do it. McDermott's play off defense come on down...

I never said the defense was good. I think McD should've been shown the door years ago. The Offense had a shot and blew it.

More so for the Bills, in a negative way.

If the damn defense could have stopped them that last drive. It could have gotten really interesting. But once again our defense could not close against the chiefs when they were needed the most.

Blah blah blah. Excuses for a fixed outcome.

Did the refs tell McD to take the XP off the board?  Did they tell him to go for 2 again unnecessarily early in the 3rd?  Nope.

How the Bills manage that last drive looks a lot different if they are down by 1, driving for just the FG position.  Instead, they are down by 3 & need a TD to take the lead.  3 will be no better than a tie.  All of that forces them to play for the potential to drive the whole field.

Not to mention, why on Earth is Johnson running on 1st down to start the last drive.  It's like the Bills are playing to trick KCs coaches at every turn.

Fingers crossed KC gets their 3-peat & Reid retires.

The thing that irks me is I think the football gods were with us today. We didn’t play well. Had multiple fumbles we recovered and recovered one of theirs. Had the ball with a chance to win. The play calling and some questionable spots did us in.

Telling in itself, eh?

Well, 29 other teams called it a season before our Bills.  Only one team in the playoff field ends the year on a high note.

We hate the Chefs but it should motivate our guys to have this playoff game at home next time, take that #1 seed, make THEM fight through the Bengals and Ravens to advance.  The competition in the AFC is getting tough... we've got to build a better defense.

Ah ok - true. The O Line and Kincaid between them on that final play.

Next season, can we ban the phrase “I don’t know why, but this year feels different” from TBD?

Nothing will change with that clapping moron at the helm. Look at the BALLS Spags had to send the house for the season. McD would NEVER.

In an Uber to my hotel from the game.

I just don’t understand not running the ball on 3rd down and force them to respect the run/pass/playaction on likely 4th and shorter.

Josh had a chance to win it. That was the game.

If Allen scored a TD there to win, it would be the most points given up by KC in like 4 years and their defense is way better now. If that is what it takes to win, then it’s too much. The defense needs to be better. The KC offense was mediocre this year.

Fair- but I think that's the difference between our teams. We look at letting a field goal as a win, The chiefs don't.

They stop them when the game is on the line and let up 0 points , where we are content with letting up 3

Holding them to 3 there was a win though.  The O was put in position to, at the very minimum, tie the game, or do what elite offenses do there and go score a TD to win.  They also blew 4 points on two bad 2 pt attempts.

There's plenty of blame to go around here.

It was a great season, they went way further than we expected but with all that they still choked with victory in sight. Why? because of inferior play calling and nobody making the plays they had too with the game on the line.

Our defense in the final analysis was decent against Mahomes but definitely not good enough and just like the offense failing , they could not get it done. I really think that had the Bills somehow got Myles Garrett at the trade deadline we would have won this game easily. Mahomes was just to comfortable back there. Rousseau, Epenesa, Jones, Von and Ed Oliver were all underwhelming or invisible.  McD and Babich's strategy in this game was odd. Was there a spy on Mahomes? At least 4 plays where he scrambled for crucial yards, there was nobody to be seen. In addition, our defensive didnt get their hands up or jump up on pressures. Something that worked well for KC on Allen. The loss of Benford was huge. Every time Elam steps on the field I think, here is the moment, he will step up and his technique is so clueless.

In the end Kincaid drops a catchable pass. Worthy of course caught almost the same prayer of throw from Mahomes (which should have been an INT) but its should never have come down to that. The Bills play calling and execution at the end of that drive was amateur hour and Brady (to quote a British slang) bottled it .

I cannot blame McD for this one and even though we full on got screwed on that spot on the Allen 4th down, the refs were just marginally bad as opposed to the usual garbage.

Now I have that traditional Bills end of the season feeling: Numbness, then grief, then rage, then emptiness.

Why can we never have nice things?

Sad cause bigger picture if you look at what cost us today it was the offensive coaching. Sure the defense played poorly but they made the handful of stops we expected the least of them doing. They even got a turnover thanks to Mahomes.

That's where I am with it.

Felt vanilla on D so I don't know how I really feel

Problem is the bills philosophy and players are built for zone, and then they try to play a lot of man.

Its a backwards philosophy- They need to start bringing in more man to man players in their back 7, instead of playing heavy zone all season and then trying to change it up in the playoffs
