1/26/25 GAMEDAY AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME Bills @ Chiefs Gameday Thread

Anybody else here annoyed with the penalty favoritism discourse on the chiefs and Pat Mahomes by Schefter?

On the eve of the biggest game for the bills in 30 years Schefter has to bring that up?

I imagine this will really fire the chiefs up in addition to wanting to three-peat. Hopefully the Bills are pissed and punch the chiefs in the mouth in all three phases.

FWIW, I hate that they will have subjective calls reviewable. The focus should be on objective calls like a missed face mask or illegal hands to the face, lined up in the neutral zone or off the line, false starts, etc. I hate that they are going to make RTP reviewable. That and holding and OPI or DPI should not be reviewable. Especially holding. You can call that on every play

Will be interesting to see if our offense keeps slowing the clock down like the past few weeks. Keeps our defense fresh, which has been the difference maker for them. Leave it to offense to fix the defense 🤣 #GoBills!

That what we’ve essentially been doing the latter portion of the season outside the Lions and Rams games. I can’t imagine we will change much at this point. Just hope we have counterpunches ready when the chiefs are focused on stopping the run (which I think they will actually do a good job at today).

I love all you guys. Let’s go and get it today!

This really is a special fan base. I’m thinking a lot today about mafia members we’ve lost, and how much they’d enjoy today.

I’m usually an emotional doomer, but today I’m just going to appreciate the moment and be thankful for this community.

Go Bills!

We all love Josh but let’s be honest, him and Mahomes are on equal ground when it comes to embellishing some of these hits.

I do hope they are watching the grabbing by CBs during the game though

Nah, Allen is a rank amateur compared to Mahomes here.

Frankly, I'm avoiding the game day thread all together.

The game day thread is never a good idea... there's literally no redeeming value to it and you can too easily lose focus on the game to boot.

Very wrong.

Josh didn't even acknowledge this hit:

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/nfl-fines-marlon-humphrey-45-020-for-hit-on-josh-allen-that-wasnt-flagged

"Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey delivered a helmet-to-helmet hit on Bills quarterback Josh Allen during the second quarter on Sunday. The officials didn’t see it, but the league’s disciplinary process did.

Humphrey was fined $45,020 for the hit, the league announced today. Officially, the NFL called it “Unnecessary Roughness (use of the helmet).”

The hit was a blatant example of the kind of helmet-to-helmet hits that the league is trying to take out of the game, and was called out on the CBS broadcast. The officials should have seen it.

Humphrey got away without a 15-yard penalty, but he didn’t get away without a significant fine."

Why in the hell is it only 9:30 in the freaking morning? I think I need to induce a 9 hour coma with drugs, blow to the head, or something else. Any suggestions?

Isn’t Schefter critiquing the Chiefs with this tweet?  At the least, I read it as neutral for or against the Chiefs.

Come on man, you’ve never seen Josh embellish some hits he has taken after he has thrown a ball? Mahomes benefits from calls, but to think Josh also doesn’t is you intentionally looking the other way at times. The Humphrey play should’ve been called, but they rarely call it on runners

The O-line continues to be the most underrated part of this team. All the media and rival fans can focus on is skill positions. The Bills line allowed a ridiculous 8 sacks, 30 pass TDs/32 rushing TDs, and the least amount of turnovers EVER. Allen has had all ample time to scan the field and not rush any throw. This directly impacted his TD/INT ratio. Beane is very traditional & old school when it comes to building a roster. Build your lines on each side first. A dominant O & D line can mask a lot of deficiencies.

I’m not knocking our WRs, they are much better than advertised, but the line along w/ Allen’s ability to extend plays gives them more time to get open. No matter who runs the ball, it seems like they are making positive gains. Especially Ty Johnson who seems to get 8+ yards every time he touches the ball. They are all very talented in their own right, but the line gives them the proper space to work their magic.

Here's my opinion on offense in 2025

You have 3 main groups.  You must be elite at 2 of the 3 to be dominant

1. QB

2. Offensive line

3. Skill positions

Beane bet on his oline and Josh. It was a good bet

I don’t know he looks pretty professional to me. 😂

Not even in the same zip code.  Allen overacts and has zero subtlety in how he reacts to these hits.  Take the 1st hit by the DB in your video that is a late hit on the QB and then Allen probably lost the call with his ham fisted flopping.  Mahomes on the other hand has turned the sideline dance into a high art form.  No one and I mean NO ONE can get an extra 10 - 15 yards on a play along the sideline by pretending to go out of bound the way Mahomes does.
