Vetriano Posted Sunday at 12:08 AM Posted Sunday at 12:08 AM (edited) Great women’s final today. Congrats to Madi getting her first major- defeating the big 3 to do so. Rybakina, Swiatek (#2) and Sabalenka (world#1). 2 days earlier Swiatek had match point and Keys came back in 3rd set tie break to win. Today against sabalenka 7-5– in the 3rd set. Epic!!! UConn James Posted Sunday at 02:27 AM Posted Sunday at 02:27 AM Any time a steroid-formed player from the Belarus or Russian state doping programs loses is a win for tennis / sports. Sabalenka last year started dating another dude a week after her boyfriend died. That’s coooollld, even for a Russian. 1 Quote
BillsPride12 Posted Sunday at 03:55 AM Posted Sunday at 03:55 AM Did Jessie Pegula get knocked out early this year? With all of the excitement and hoopla surrounding the Bills right now I haven't really kept tabs on this tourney Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted Sunday at 03:59 AM Posted Sunday at 03:59 AM I only saw the results, and didn’t watch. In fact, I probably have watched about less than 30 minutes of the Australian Open in my entire life! That said, congrats! Can’t believe she could Beat Sabalenka, who is an absolute monster. Quote

Apparently the court wasn’t to her liking, compared it to a clay court. 8 hours ago, Miyagi-Do Karate said: I only saw the results, and didn’t watch. To be honest, there’s not been a lot of media even here about it, so it seems, other than a local reporting upsetting Djokovic. 1 Quote

I always blamed my lack of interest in the Australian Open to time zone differences. But you are right: I feel like the media coverage (at least in the US) has been very low. Might also be the fact that it competing with NFL and college football playoffs, plus the heart of regular season NBA and NHL. Quote

It happens in the middle of the night during our winter when nobody is even thinking tennis. I’m surprised to hear Jess compared the courts to clay. I always thought of the Australian as very hot conditions and fast courts. I remember guys puking into the flower pots due to heat back in the glory days of tennis. 1 Quote
