But once upon a time Coen was staying in Tampa as well. Until the Saints hire someone else I'm giving this Stef Diggs level side eye. He did that to remove Baalke. I think Brady goes to the Jags if Coen didn't pull that power move. I don't think Brady leaked this info to remove Loomis because it's not happening. 1 Quote

Improves our odds of reaching a Super Bowl next year and maybe making him next cycle’s Ben Johnson. Would have a lot more leverage in getting a huge payday and control of operations. I think had Coen not taken the Jags job it would have come down to Saleh or Brady. If Brady stayed in the Saints race I think it was he or Kellen Moore. That is the direction I see them going. 1 Quote

And Joe has always come across as a straight shooter. Coen pulled the move to get what he wanted. Maybe Joe did the same to see if New Orleans upped an offer or something else he wanted. More money to take on a bad situation, perhaps. I really don't think so, but until the job is filled there's always a chance. Edited yesterday at 12:45 PM by BuffaloBillyG Quote

Akin to Brady having as his HC and de facto DC one of the best defensive-minded gurus in the NFL all those years. You want a dynasty, you pair your generational quarterback with a generational head coach. If you clearly have one of the two but don't have a dynasty (or even a single Super Bowl win), you probably don't have the other. That's an indictment of Don Shula, Zac Taylor, John Harbaugh (who did had one SB win with Flacco) and, possibly, McDermott. I still have hope for McDermott. This Bills team is better than the sum of its parts, as an Athletic writer just pointed out, and that's not just because Allen has carried them. McDermott clearly cost the Bills a Super Bowl appearance (and likely win) in the 13-second game, but he seems to have realized what he is very good at and what he should leave up to others (i.e., Allen, Brady, and Babich). Does that make him a generational coach? I'm inclined to laugh at that question, but the truth is, the jury is still out. Quote

Cash Posted yesterday at 01:59 PM Posted yesterday at 01:59 PM I’m very happy about Brady staying! I think he’s still ata a point where he’s improving as an OC, which bodes very well for us next year. There’s a good chance he winds up leaving to take the Saints job in 2-3 years if he hasn’t already left before then. And if so, that’s fine! I just wanted at least one more year. Quote
eball Posted yesterday at 02:03 PM Posted yesterday at 02:03 PM Great news, and a smart move by Brady. The Saints are in a simply horrible situation right now; whoever takes that job starts out behind the eight ball. Quote

I just wanted at least one more year. there will be potentially better jobs next year. maybe Miami Colts Giants Tampa and who knows McVay has always flirted with leaving and if stafford doesn't come back next year and they have a miserable year he might just walk away. Same thing in SF. If the niners struggle next year maybe shannahan leaves. Highly unlikely on both. The idea of the Giants hiring another Bills OC next year seems foolish but Daboll and schoen seem lost and have made the roster worse. They are only coming back next year because the owner doesn't want to look bad and make a change already yet again. It is a better job than the saints or the jags. Quote
Mr. WEO Posted yesterday at 03:10 PM Posted yesterday at 03:10 PM It's a smart move. the job wasn't there for him this year. maybe he considered life as a coach without genius-maker Josh Allen.... 1 Quote

I think the Texans OC could still get a shot being a HC if he is really a HC material. People are not going to hold the Texans failure this season against him considering that they lost their #1, #2 and #3 WRs during the season and they chose to put everything on Stroud. In fact, I hope the Bills would have considered him for the OC position if Brady left. He brought the run game back to Houston through Mixon. 1 Quote

Thrivefourfive Posted yesterday at 04:07 PM Posted yesterday at 04:07 PM That was one way to keep him.. make sure the Saints were going to hire him 🤣 Quote

BigDingus Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago This is why he'll probably end up being a successful HC one day - choosing the right opportunities. Seems like any time a coordinator starts getting mentioned for HC jobs, they leave at the first chance. But the Saints are a mess, and Brady didn't want his opportunity to be squandered by accepting a job that's almost guaranteed to fail. Salary cap issues, no QB, only have the 9th overall pick, and limited options to improve that in FA. And if you're not able to draft "your guy" right away, ownership is far more likely to make you the scapegoat when the season inevitably blows up. Quote

Terrible cap situation, no young QB that could be the franchise guy, not a great roster. Essentially whoever takes this job has a much higher chance of coaching two years where things go badly, they get high draft picks and clear the decks salary cap wise, get ready to pick their franchise QB, but he ends up being fired after the season leading up to that. Essentially, someone is going to be set up to fail and take the fall...a first time head coach who has a bright future shouldn't want that on his resume. he would get a 5 year contract. Rex had a 5 year deal w the Bills, worked just under two. the Bills paid that off fully. so, $8 mil w 5 years guaranteed could still move him. He probably makes about $3mil today. I am not saying this will happen, but, that is the type of temptation we are talking about here. Quote

Today, a rookie HC is likely getting 5-7M a year for 5 year contract and all guaranteed..That is too much money to leave on the table on the assumption that you will have a chance next year again. BTW, Sean makes about 10M a year...and Reid is making 20M a year (Sean Payton is also close to 17M) Quote
