the saints have an absentee owner, a GM with no vision that is his own boss, a massive cap problem, no qb and weak draft capital m

 

the next guy in either gets a huge 5-6 year commitment or is ok with being the sacrificial lamb in 24 months for a decent pay day and handing the keys over to a guy like Brady then,

Losing the innovative mind of Teddy Marchibroda after the Bills 1st Super Bowl appearance was a major set back for the Buffalo Bills Offense. One I don't think the Bills were ever able to overcome in the J K era IMO. Not enough to win a Championship.

I think it is smart of him.  Besides his time with the Bills, he's had some experience as an NFL offensive coordinator, but not a lot.  I think he would be much better prepared to take a head coaching position in a year or two.

Not surprised at all...would have made little sense for him to take that job.

 

Terrible cap situation, no young QB that could be the franchise guy, not a great roster.

 

Essentially whoever takes this job has a much higher chance of coaching two years where things go badly, they get high draft picks and clear the decks salary cap wise, get ready to pick their franchise QB, but he ends up being fired after the season leading up to that.

 

Essentially, someone is going to be set up to fail and take the fall...a first time head coach who has a bright future shouldn't want that on his resume.

Is this actually meant to be serious? Nobody waits until the season is over to hire a coach. The new hire has to put together a staff and the scouting combine starts just two and a half weeks after the Super Bowl.

He made the right choice for all of the above reasons.

Steichen and Gannon were hired after the Super Bowl two years ago so it's not uncommon.  Saleh and Reich also come to mind.

while im glad Brady is staying,  i wouldnt have been upset if he left.  theres only so many of these lottery tickets every season and as we see with the Texans O Coord that was the talk of the town,  one year the hot thing,  next youre out on the street.
