Pretty sus as the kids would say.

McD was part of Reid’s staff and he’s gone on to have lots of success. More likely Reid feels some pride about that. Lots of mutual respect in all likelihood.

I saw a couple plays the past few meeting where Reid kinda “rubs it in”:

* Kelce lateral pass “throw back” last year around the time of the Nashville Mirace anniversary

* Highlighting Xavier Worthy to kind of rub salt in our wounds

* Other instances where he calls crazy plays just to showboat.

Really hoping McDermott and Babich dial up some crazy chit that Reid won’t expect.

Go Bills!!

Not sure what you are talking about. Makes no sense. The lateral had nothing to do with Reid and I haven’t seen anything indicating it is Bills related with respect to Worthy.

I want McDermott to go full WWE promo on the podium if we win.

"That lowlife on the opposite sideline had the audacity to fire me! Who's bringing the heat now, Andy?!?!"

I think there's a good bit of revisionist history in that.

Reid was doing what he thought (rightly or wrongly) was best for the team and himself first, and thinking of what was best for McDermott very much as an afterthought.  I dunno about that phone call to Rivera and how much influence it had - "hey, I've got this great young subordinate, I'm firing his ass but I think he'd be a great hire for you" only goes so far as a job recommendation in any field.

Be that as it may, Reid certainly didn't tell McDermott "you suck, you can't coach, I'm kicking you to the curb".

McDermott was seen as Reid's guy, even moreso than some of the other assistants that came through there (Sean started as assistant to the Head Coach before getting a quality control gig). I don't buy the "he was firing Sean to shield him" he was firing him to try and save his own skin, the worm definitely turned those last couple of years in Philly. But I do genuinely think it was a wrench for Andy to have to do it. Rivera obviously already knew McDermott having been on that staff as well at one point but I don't doubt Reid's sincerity in making that phone call. I think he hated having to fire McDermott but at that point he was flailing around a bit for things that might work - as evidenced by the Castillo decision.

This is 100% true.  Reid was trying to save his own ass after getting eliminated in the wildcard 2 years in a row.   I’m sure there’s some vindication given the fact that Castillo as DC was an ill-advised train wreck which was the beginning of the end for Reid in Philly.

But that’s life in the NFL when you underperform.

I’ve thought this for a while.

Reid repeatedly throwing to Worthy last matchup wasn’t just a gameplan.

It was purposeful.

He has 5 targets the whole game. He had one drive where he was featured. 1 carry. That's gameplan.

Well, Reid did fire McDermott.  And then hire Juan Castillo, the offensive line coach, to replace him as DC (that went about as well as one might predict lol)

He had him for like a decade. It was time.

Ok. Just hoping McD shows something different to “out coach” the man he respects so much (because I honestly don’t think Reid respects our coach).

I think Reid’s eyes light up when he gets to up against McD and his defense in the playoffs.

His fear is much more #17 but he knows exactly what McD is going to do. And it’s just so easy for him.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chiefs open with the entire roster excessively clapping after successfully running the Annexation of Puerto Rico. Then following it with a timeout with 13 seconds left on the play clock on the PAT.

If you watch The Facility like I do, then you will see how much more Shady McCoy respects Andy Reid... he mentions his name a lot as if he were a god while saying NOTHING about McDermott. He was coached by McD for 2 seasons and before McD was the assistant in Philly for his first 2 seasons and I understand he got a Super Bowl win with Reid after 5 years with him split between the Eagles and Chiefs. I wish someone would ask him about McDermott and see what he says... I know it was his first and second season coaching, but I am curious now.

Not quite true.  McCoy was also with Reid in Philadelphia before he was fired.  I believe they were together for at least 4 seasons with the Eagles.

I forgot about that! Still curious though! I edited my previous response.
