I am worried about will happen year 1. Carroll's biggest strength was his energy and his ability to energise a locker room. That was what made him special. Not Xs and Os, certainly not discipline, it was energy. He is 74 in week 2. I seriously doubt his ability to be the guy he was in 2010/2011 when he was stabilising and turning around the Seahawks.

I mean, I don’t know the guys energy level now, but it’s something he was pretty famous for. I imagine losing his job and not being hired probably motivated him more. I imagine he comes in with some piss and vinegar. At this stage of the hiring process I don’t think it’s the worst call. Then you know Brady supported it and I think Brady is a pretty bright football mind. We will see. He has is work cut out for him.

Yea he was pretty famous for it. But being 73 soon to turn 74 and having been out a year I think the odds are firmly against him still being that guy. Father time is forever undefeated. I bet he lasts no more than two years, has no season above .500 and all this does is delay the restart the Raiders actually need.

One of only 32 of these jobs in the entire world

Be honest, you'd take that job if offered

I'd rather ask for the asst HC title and stay if my choice was the Aints.

Right now, taking fandom out of the equation, I'd probably want the Pats job, if we're all being honest. Maybe Vegas 2nd, mostly because it's the Raiders and it's in Vegas with desperate ownership looking to spare no expense.

I'm not as old as Pete, but at 66 my professional "energy" is the same as it's always been.  I can't run as fast or as far as I used to.  Not even close - though I am taking the husky for a 12-mile run with 2,000 feet of elevation gain in the Santa Cruz mountains today.  I can't do as many push -ups or sit-ups.  But I speak with the same passion that I did when younger and can work long hours without flagging.  I'll guess Pete can too.

As far as Xs and Os are concerned, I always thought Pete was pretty good on the defensive side of the ball.

My bigger point is this:  being older doesn't necessarily mean being less capable.  These things do go hand in hand sometimes but not all the time.  Some seniors are very sharp and energetic.
