It is their life, for better or worse. -agreed Plus, they get a few months off in the offseason. -they get a few months of 8-10 hour days. There is no offseason for head coaches. Or players for that matter. Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban tried coaching in the NFL with college coach hours. Didn't work out so well. I'm not sure that's accurate. I bet they take some time off with their families. There is only so much you can do. Yeah, it isn't like they get ALL of it off, but I know I've seen pictures of coaches on vacation with their families, etc. Quote

Still amazed that they were so willing to let Jacobs walk and putting all their face in the unproven commodity of Zamir White. It wasn’t like the guy dominated in the reps he was given to spell Jacobs. Actually, they mismanage the majority of their top talent for some time. Care, love him or hate him, was a boneheaded move to let him walk. The QB play hasn’t even been remotely better whilst he’s not been a bad option in NOLA. Not a fan of any QB in this draft but I’d go Cam Ward only that high. They should trade back if they can and grab Milroe Although, he may not get to the 10-15 range depending on the Jets and Saints. 2 Quote
Scott7975 Posted Friday at 05:25 PM Posted Friday at 05:25 PM The way hires are going, it looks like we are going to have Brady at least one more year! 2 Quote

zow2 Posted Friday at 05:26 PM Posted Friday at 05:26 PM Good guy, seems like such a players coach. They obviously wanted a voice in the room with experience and to steady the ship. 1 Quote

So hopefully Brady's replacement is already on board, or we hire and 'train' him this year. I don't want Josh and the offense to have to go through a painful and possibly unproductive transition to a brand-new coordinator (with little idea of what's worked for the Bills and why and what didn't and why) who implements a brand-new offense while building brand-new relationships. I'd love to see some continuity. 1 Quote

Pretty sure that a detail oriented guy like McProcess has potential replacements lined up. Wondering what Rick Dennison is up to these days 😂 2 Quote
Sweats Posted Friday at 06:04 PM Posted Friday at 06:04 PM Everyone called Dick Vermeil an "old man" when he was 63 winning a SB with the Rams after his 14-year hiatus from exhaustion and a breakdown..........so, someone please define "old man" to me? Carroll is a good hire for the Raiders. 1 Quote

In fact, I would get on my knees in tears of joy and give thanks to every god I could think of (and Hinduism supposedly has 330 million of them). But I'd take the job because I'd never have a better option. Joe Brady might. Sometimes good coaches fail as head coaches because they don't have the right organization and/or roster talent. And then they get stuck with a losing record on their resume. And then it becomes hard to get another shot. Just ask Jim Fassel, Vance Joseph, Spags, or Leslie Frazier. If I were me, I'd jump on the opportunity to coach the Saints. But if I were Joe, I wouldn't take the first opportunity that came my way. I'd wait for the best opportunity and that might not be NO. Kinda see the Raiders needing a culture reset guy, but feels like they are gonna have a different HC 3 years from now. Maybe they will pick Pete's chosen successor? Doesnt feel that weird when you word it like this LOL actually feels right on brand for the Raidhers Quote

I view it as a "bridge HC" hire. This is almost like a Dick Vermeil hire to me. He doesn't have much at QB. But this is the guy that ran a Seahawks team that hid Russ Wilson for years and under his watch turned Geno Smith into a mid level starter. I don't think they need to get him much to work with. Maybe a Sam Darnold landing spot for me. Exactly. I see a veteran QB being picked up. Darnold would be the guy. Not a lot to choose from this offseason - Flacco, Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, Brissett, Mac Jones, etc. He doesn’t have the time to draft a QB and let him mature. Although, could draft a guy and let him learn. I do see him as a culture changer for sure. His ex-players love him. 1 Quote

New Orleans is not an ideal situation for first time coach. Incumbent QB is good, not great and has been injured a bit last two seasons. Cap issues that can strangle the teams ability to keep players and/or get quality Free Agents. Hopefully he takes a flier this year and gets better opportunities next year(see Bobby Slowik). Quote
TheFunPolice Posted Friday at 07:26 PM Posted Friday at 07:26 PM (edited) Coaches get plenty of personal time, just not so much during the season. Don't let them fool you. The "I work 22 hours a day and sleep in my office" bit might be true here and there. But there's as much legend as there is reality in that. It's a gig where you make tens of millions of dollars, make your own schedule, staff members wait on on you hand and foot, and you go to work in sweatpants and a hoodie and spend all night eating pizza and watching ball with the boys. Staying so late in the office during the season is as much about making a point about how hard they work as it is actually productive. If I'm wrong how come kids who play Madden are better at managing the clock than some of these NFL coaches? Edited Friday at 07:27 PM by TheFunPolice Quote
