Dolphins actually tied with the Bills for 9th longest streak at 24 years.  (They're both higher up the list if you only count super bowl era)

There has not been one thing he has done to justify him being a head coach besides be the right sperm.

Jerry has to be Punking Cowboys fans at this point. McCarthy is a million times between than this dude.

I'd say thats a little much.  He's been the offensive coordinator for a top ten scoring defensive 5 of his 14 years as an OC.   He's led offensives that have played well in the playoffs including two conference championship appearances.  He isnt the hottest coaching candidate but he isn't a bad coach because of that.

If you want a movie analogy, the Bills drought is 'The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight'; the Jets are closer to 'Peyton Place'. 😁

The funniest part of all this is:

While Jerry is working to finalize this hire, he's also watching Dan Quinn, his recent DC as HC of the Commanders and Kellen Moore, his former OC as OC of the Eagles (BOTH Divisional Rivals) in the NFC Championship game.

Must. Be. Fuming.

He is a pretty horrendous offensive coordinator that has been away from pretty much any serious coaching role for awhile and his dad is the infamous case study into ‘when do you fire a great regular season coach that can’t get it done in the playoffs’. So it’s kind of a bundlerooski

I don’t think there’s any reason you’d ever let McCarthy go if you’re replacing him with this guy.  Pretty much just a worse Mike McCarthy

He was just the offensive coordinator for the Cowboys, so I'd say that is a pretty serious coaching role.

I'm not sure it matters what his dad did.

Anyway, we'll see how he does. It seems like the Cowboys liked him enough to promote him from within.

There were some amazing stories from those times.  The Oline saga of 2007-2009 was another great one.  Sign Derrick Dockery, a LG, to the 3rd highest OL contract in history.  Sign Langston Walker to RT for big bucks.  Dockery sucked big time even playing alongside promising young LT Jason Peters.  We owed Dockery a ton of money so we couldnt pay JP and that situation goes to hell.  So we cut Dockery for poor play after botching a trade which would have freed us from his salary and instead paid him a bonus and cut him.

We trade future hall of famer Jason Peters and move serviceable Right Tackle Langston Walker to Left Tackle.  Langston isn't happy playing left tackle so one week before the season opener we cut him and promote Karl Malone's illegitimate child "Demetrius" Bell to starting LT.  Turns out his name is actually Demetress.  The team got his name wrong for 2 or 3 years before he fixed it when he too went to Philly joining Jason Peters.

*sigh*  At least it wasn't all bad.  Brian Moorman was named to the NFL's all-decade team of the 2000s  (We punted well)

Gailey wasn't a horrible hire, he made an offense with a 7th Round QB, 7th Round WR and undrafted RB better than what we saw with some 1st Rounders.

Bro, his winning percentage was .304 in 3 seasons (14-32).  This is horrible by any standard. HORRIBLE.  Compare that with Dick Jauron who I’m sure you regard as a bad hire.  His winning percentage was .430 (24-33).

Chan and Jauron weren’t that different.  They both built strong units on one side, neglected the other, and ultimately were bad head coaches.

Also look at the context.  In 2009, Gailey was out of the NFL after getting fired by Kansas City.  He was an extremely underwhelming choice as HC.

Chan is a likable guy and did a lot with limited parts on offense (though he did have 1st round picks at WR and RB that you failed to mention.). But he was NOT a good HC by any means.

Here's a crazy stat.  We had more turnovers in that game (9) than we had in the 19 games played so far this year (8).

Wow, I am kind of shocked hearing so many well informed sources online talk about how cheap Jerry Jones is. That surprises me, but then again I don't follow the Cowboys much. The Cowboys team and stadium are a money printing press and they are acting like they're broke.

Being Jerry Jones age you'd think he would open the checkbook and swing for the fences.

The most fun part of all this will be the introductory press conference where Jerry tells everything this was the most qualified coach out there.

I don't think you'll ever see a game again in life where a team turns the ball over 9 times.

I was so pissed that night.
