BringMetheHeadofLeonLett Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Welcome to the worst Pop-Hits thread. No rules, just please try to not stick some catchy gawd-awful Paul McCartney song into innocent peoples heads. If it catches, maybe we'll have some kinda vote to come up with the ghastliest pop song of all time, if not, well maybe a few of us can exorcise some demons. It goes without saying that for me the most iconic decade of awful music was the 1980's - I don't hate everything 1980's, and actually I love quite a bit of it, but the driving force in the center of the 80's pop-music scene was a relentless choad... that decade was absolutely relentless with terrible music... BUT there's terrible pop songs to be had from producers, performers and cultures far and wide, so please find that one song buried in the craw of your last functioning brain-wave if you dare. I'd like to nominate Simple Minds for your consideration for worst Pop Song of All Time, with their original, 'All the Things She Said'. It blends a certain, 'I don't care about any of these lyrics, but I suppose they must mean something' with immediate refrain gratification followed up by vapid soothing and a complete smothering into the dust of pointlessness at the end. Excellent hit material, Simple Minds. Quote
Pete Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago One of the the worst songs I have ever heard. The Alanis irony of Starship singing about rock and roll being bedrock for San Fran with a weak ass song LOL 1 1 Quote

For me the worst pop hit of all time is this one. You can avoid hearing Starship for the rest of your life pretty easily. Not so with this 90s alt breakthrough: It's everything that's bad about 90s music that Nirvana wasn't already involved in. 1 Quote

Saw this band get boo'ed offstage at Aerosmith @ Darien Lake 1993 But the song makes a great appearance in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, so I'm fine with it. Quote
Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago There often is that one song that trashes all the previous good work a band has done. It's not just a bad track, it's a song that places the group on the highway of banal pop music. 🤨 For J. Geils, it was 'Centerfold'. Quote

Another example that even the best can produce a stinker (although I do not think it hurt their career): "Ob-la-di, ob-la-da" by you-know-who. 1 Quote

Simon Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I can't limit it to one so I'll just say every single thing that Journey, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard have ever done. 1 Quote

Ugly business. Quote
