Gugny Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I’m hoping Beane learned his lesson about paying has-beens more than they deserve. Quote
Big Turk Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago (edited) I would want an up and coming young player that we might be able to get for less than an aging overpriced vet. Edited 17 hours ago by Big Turk Quote
TheyCallMeAndy Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago They already have the old rotating DE, no need for two but I love Mack. Quote

I think he has just enough left to make a difference and would be a suitable, potentially affordable replacement for Von. This would bring his career full circle. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/43518964/source-pass-rusher-khalil-mack-decides-play-2025 Some perspective here. Mack will be 34 in FEB 2025. That means he will be 1 year older than Von was when he signed with Bills in 2022. Mack decided to come back but previously stated he was considering retirement. IMHO best to let him pick a warm weather climate (he is from FLA) to pay his last contract. Quote

And it goes against all the previous moves they typically make in FA. Players on 2nd contracts in the 25-29 age range. So I don’t see it happening.. Quote

If we do what we all hope we do, I'm positive he'll retire on that. If we don't, he may still retire and if he doesn't - it's the end of the line for him here. His contract when we signed him was always viewed as a 3 year deal. And we need to free Cap Space. On top of Von, Dawuane Smoot will also be a Free Agent. We have Rousseau and Epenesa (our two current starters) under contract. If the price is right, I could see Mack being someone we'd pursue to fill as an upgrade to one of those roles. Quote
hondo in seattle Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago If he wants to end his career on a cheap contract in Buffalo because he's a Bills fan, then I'm all for it. He had 6 sacks last year. The only Bill with more was Groot. Could be good in rotation. 1 Quote

Great player, outstanding career. Great back story as a UB Alum. Not for me at this point of his career. You dont need to say “back” story, all stories are about the past, just say story. (Peet peeve sorry bro) but seriously what a joy it would be if he came in as a third down specialist just wanting to get a final two years in here in Buffalo. He’s younger than Von. Quote

LABILLBACKER Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Absolutely not...we need Von and that contract gone. We need young pass rushers to develop. I doubt we're extending AJ after next season so we desperately need a good pass rusher to pair with Groot. Quote

Mister Defense Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago No thanks, as though he may do well next year, it is a big risk for any team willing to pay him over ten million. The Bills, and Beane, will not repeat what was one of the worst moves of this current team--bringing in an old lineman way past his prime and dramatically overpay for him. Like Miller, one of his most important attributes was his speed, which often enabled all his other skills. Mack will be 34 soon. Instead, the Bills need to follow their own philosophy, and trust the process that has made them so successful. Use the draft and/or get a young up and coming player in free agency that they have had their eyes on. They should hire Gregg Cosell as a consultant and finally nail their defensive line picks in this year's draft (and free agency). Quote

So the back story here would be the Bills sign him in free agency before the start of next season? 🤣🤣 If he signed for vet minimum and Von retires, I’d consider it. Have too many upcoming FA’s on this team that need to be addressed. Quote
