You are flying from a small market to a mid-size market on two days notice.   What did you expect price wise?  $79 each way?

Nope but empty seats in a plane don't pay the stock holders

Buy a ticket at a low price now, or just before kickoff to see the beginning of the game.

You will still pay for that ticket and it will all be there, it's your ticket still. But watch for tickets during the game on Ticketmaster or StubHub because they will fall in price as the price drops. On Ticketmaster any verified tickets are like on StubHub. You can set them to manage the price for you. The original game tickets will fall in price as well. And since the market is oversaturated you will be able to get cheap tickets as an upgrade. But you don't get your original money back

I've done it before where I bought $30 nose bleeds at the start of the game and watch the beginning and then bought $14 upgrades to be on the 30 it rows up

This works because some people are stubborn or stupid and do not list their tickets at the appropriate price. So, some schmuck thinks he's selling his face value tickets for $450 for $800 to make a big profit.  He will refuse or forget to drop the price until it's too late and he's not lowered it. He then sets it to be auto managed and the price plummets.

If there was another person or two I'd rent a car and drive.  If simply another person and managed right if fly to STL from Greensboro (cheaper than CLT or RDU despite the flight going gso-clt-stl).

But it's a car rental driveable game - 16 hour one way.

Why not consider Omaha instead? It’s about the same distance & might be a little closer.

Hope you and others can make it. Certainly a bunch of machinations to travel & get tix. I am a STH in central VA so familiar with exploring alternatives with travel. Expensive getting last minute flights so already booked our Big Easy travel before flight pricing becomes nuts. Can always cancel but hoping I don’t have to.

They count on people who must travel last minute(death of a family member, work, other emergency), and pay through the nose.

I agree with you, but the airlines would rather fly with empty seats vs selling them discounted last minute.

Just checked Orbitz, $1100 to fly out of Rochester or Buffalo, either Friday or Saturday and return Monday.

I just checked again, my preferred airline is Delta.  Syracuse to Kansas City, Saturday out, return Monday, is $3,000.  Switch to flying in and out of St Louis, a little over $400.

fly to STL.

if a group of enough people get together to meet at STL - get a rental - drive over from there (4 hours) and back spending the night in STL briefly before flying home Monday it would be much cheaper.

I am open for it. The realistic expectation would be fly in late Saturday - stay in St Louis Saturday night and drive to KC Sunday morning. Drive back immediately after the game to St Louis to be back by 1:30-2am and fly out Monday.

Many flights back to areas leave quite early - St Louis is a popular airport - so spending the night at the airport is also an option to avoid a 3 hour hotel room.

Rental midsize would be $100ish

supply and demand and close to the flight date - this isn't corporate greed. it is economics.

Do you really want to be in a 4 hour car ride with whatever TBDer shows up? Have you read some of these threads?

Prices are dropping and dropping quick, just like they always do for nearly every venue in the US.

Those Ticketmaster prices are insane. I can find tickets much cheaper. I logged into their “presale” to take a look and they were 2x the secondary market in some cases.

For reference, I likely won’t buy my ticket until I get off the plane in St. Louis on Saturday. And even then I might keep waiting.

The ticket game is broken and needs to be fixed. But it can also be played.

The question to be who should volunteer to ride with me... And that joy ride.

But, yeah, yolo.

Per my independent research there have been 1,500+ tickets added to the aftermarket websites in the last 24 hours. Red is resale, blue is through KC Chiefs.

Anyone who bought tickets I fear bought too early. At this point on Friday is the gauge to pull the trigger. The market for KC isn't huge but half of these will be scooped up when the price falls by the locals in the area who rationalize spending a few hundred to do something on a Sunday, especially with nice weather. However, the late night Sunday game combined with traffic will deter many.

Either way, if you're going to KC or have interest I suggest waiting until Saturday night at the earliest.

I was telling my wife I am going to fly to St. Louis at 8 am tomorrow, meet up with some Bills fans and drive to KC to go the championship game and then I'll be back by noon Monday. (jokingly)

Her response "Don't tell me any of the details, just let me know when I'm solo parenting"

Guys, I married the right lady

essentially the same for my wife. this morning she said "i don't care if you go. i got this [the family]. just go and have fun if you want to." she even said last week she felt bad that i opted not to go when someone offered me tickets for $90. she said she'd buy my ticket if i went to the game this weekend.

my step sons birthday is tomorrow 1-3. flights out from charlotte or raleigh are still cheap flying out after 6pm. stay in st louis saturday night. wake up and drive to kc. drive back to st louis after the game and come back by noon monday is right. the entire package would be about $1,000. honestly, for that price it's not bad.

(flight $400, rental $100, $game ticket $400 at most if last minute, $100 gas). Hotel I could be cheap and sleep at airport lol

i have a friend who offered me face value front row ticket behind the bench at the 30, even. too rich for my blood though.

Omaha is definitely closer to KC than St Louis is.  We made the drive to KC a lot when we lived in Omaha.  Also Omaha is an easy airport in and out, and if you need to spend a night somewhere there's a lot to do there.

Whatever happens, you gotta give mad respect to @boyst, @Mango, others, for the sheer tenacity in getting to this game... w/o mortgaging their children.

(Aside: I'm over 50, so I'm doubly excited that I got to use "mad respect" in an actual sentence).

You can mortgage kids?

Still white knuckling tickets at the moment. My better half is terrified that we have flights and no fake day tickets. I’m determined to get on the Bills sideline in the lower bowl for less than $500 w/fees.

You and me both, dude. Counting on boyst's theory or I will petition to have him banned from here if it doesn't work out.

They have already dropped like crazy. I am not worried.
