boyst Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Not worried about stopping the Chiefs as much as I am about us getting going. They're an efficient offense that moves the ball down the field and wins. That's all it takes. On defense we must bracket Kelce. He doesn't block. Have cover 3 over the middle in zone with an underneath backer or Johnson depending on the offensive set. If we go man coverage or quarters than it will be imperative to watch both seams for Kelce, Gray, or a running back breaking free. Quarters coverage exposes seams and can be effective with only 3 rushers + 1 spy. Regardless, spying Allen with a linebacker and not showing who it is will help. He's smart, though, so mixing in a corner blitz to flush him to our edge protectors is critical. With 3 rushers, a spy LB we leave 2 safeties over top, 2 corners not to get beat, a linebacker to cover the backfield, flat, soft under zone check down, and a nickel who can play off the QB. I hope we consider going dime on obvious passing plays when the ball is outside of field goal range since Mahomes will take all day to find a target. Kelce will have under 60 yards catching. Gray will get 30-40. Brown, Worthy & WR's will total 80 yards, the RB's will touch on 60-70 yards. There will be 3+ sacks. Quote
JMM Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago The way will be the same way they needed to beat the Ravens, keep Mahommes and Kelce in the bench. They will need 3 long TD drives again, and probably a lucky bounce. As for Kelce, u can't realistically double him, but I certainly would attempt to have him covered on a regular basis, sort of like a zone and one in basketball. Quote

Blanket him. I think the Bills can control their running game. If that means playing more man, so be it. That's my plan and I'm sticking to it. Go Bills!!! The Bills did a great job containing him in the regular season game. Prepare for lots of screens and dump offs to RBs as well. Mahomes will try to get the ball out early Quote

When we play the chiefs in the past, we always get into these cat and mouse games— especially on O— re disguises and audibles, etc. I’d love to just have a game plan where we line up on both sides, and just punch them in the mouth. Out-physical them on both sides. Would love to see a replay of that Cowboys game from last year. Including the devastating pancake by Dawkins. 2 Quote

That roughing call is going to be made 99% of the time. That’s the way they call it now for all QBs. Allen draws roughing the passer at a far higher rate than Mahomes (and flops for a lot of calls) but I’m betting it would get annoying to hear “the refs will give him a first down,” rather than giving him credit for what he accomplishes. You think this is overblown? Edited 21 hours ago by pigpen65 Quote
pi2000 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Bracket Kelce, rush 3, double spies on Mahomes with a late blitzer/rusher and prevent the big plays. If they do that and Buffalo can score 30+, they'll win. 1 1 Quote
Sweats Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I almost feel like we should just have every guy on D just "bum rush" Mahomes in blitz packages on every play...........and i'm talking, like every guy just rush him. Quote

If nothing else, if the refs just called them for illegal formation for the tackles lining up in the backfield it would more than even up the numbers. 1 Quote
Gugny Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Don’t worry about stopping them. Just score more than them. 1 Quote
uticaclub Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago We won’t stop them with Pacheco and Hollywood Brown in this game, rather than in the regular season game. We need to keep pace with their scoring and hope to have the ball last. Quote

You can’t double Kelce, which is why the Chiefs are so dangerous. They have Kelce, Hopkins, Brown, Worthy, and Pacheco. Any of them are capable of making big plays in key moments. You have to accept that they are all going to make catches, but commit to limiting the big plays. We need our secondary to be healthy, as it’s all hands on deck Quote

People are sure bent out of shape over a few calls that were defended by rules experts. I think they were soft calls too, but it's a soft league now and that first one's going to be called every time. Has been all year. As for that graph, it looks bad on the surface, but a few things: 1) It's a blatant cherrypick. If they went back one more game, it would include the SB vs Tampa, which had a massive disparity in favor of the Bucs. During that full playoff run, KC's opponents were penalized 11 times to 21 for the Chiefs. Convenient of them to leave that out, among others. No one felt sorry for the Chiefs when they were hosed vs Brady twice in massive games. 11 penalties for 120 yds vs 4 for 39. One TD drive was basically all penalty yards. Where was the outrage? Now we're supposed to feel sorry for the Texans due to a couple supposedly bad calls that resulted in a total of 3 pts? They'd have lost anyway. 2) The average penalty disparity in that stretch is only a couple fouls, and the margin in most of those games is between 5-20 yds. In a few of them, the teams were either tied in total penalties or KC had more penalty yds. Without looking at each penalty individually, it really doesn't tell us much. 3) In Sharp's Twitter thread, he implied that KC got a lot of the "significant" calls in those games. He failed to mention that they were the only team to have a TD wiped off the board last postseason (and it happened twice). Or that there were two TDs negated the previous postseason, and also a negated INT. Opponents had zero of either. So, 0-5. Just a few off the top of my head from the last two years. There were plenty of other big calls against KC too, like the defensive hold on 3rd and 13 that gave SF a new set of downs in OT. I guess Sharp doesn't consider those significant? Disingenuous nonsense pushed by people w/ agendas. Edited 20 hours ago by SaulGoodman Quote
PBF81 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago The Chiefs hit 30 points only once this season, that was against Carolina which thanks DFL in both yardage and scoring D. KC has the 15th ranked Scoring Offense. Denver the 10th ranked & Baltimore the 3rd ranked. If we can't put up 30 and hold them to 24 or fewer then we don't deserve to advance. In our first game we held them to 259 total yards, Mahomey to 181 passing yards, and 19 total 1st-Downs. It shouldn't surprise anyone if this is Kelce's last season. Quote

He is still Mahomes go to guy The go-to guy seems to be different every week. Any of those four could have a big game. I definitely wouldn't leave Kelce wide open over the middle like Houston did on that one play, but that was an error by the defender. I think doubling him is a bad strategy at this point. One or more of Brown, Worthy, Hopkins are likely to be wide open. Quote
Success Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago It seems obvious to over-cover Kelce - and I scream that at teams every time I watch them play KC - but I'm also worried about their speed guys, Brown & Worthy. They can really stretch the field. Quote
