Marlon Humphrey head shot

Hollins is a throwback to the days when football was much nastier and tougher.  The rules to protect the players have had the effect of increasing safety which of course is great, but they've also led to a different mentality.  Hollins would have fit right in on the 85 Bears team, and that's meant as high praise.

I posted the Jerry Seinfeld "What a Shame" GIF in the GDT when Humphrey got knocked out.  I got eye rolled,  but I had no sympathy for that dirty mother ***** after he head hunted Josh.  ***** Humphrey.

It was beautiful to watch Hollins run that POS backwards into the turf. I absolutely despise the ravens. Just a team full of dirtbags year after year. Enjoy that extended offseason. Hollins was a guy (early on) I was very concerned about. Fearing we would rely on him way too much. I was thankfully off on the usage and I love that dude. ***** the ravens.

I love what Hollins has done for the Bills. I did think maybe he needed to sit for a play when he was getting hyped on the field. I was worried a dumb penalty would pop up because he was all juiced.

Seeing the connection that Josh & Mack have developed you know Mack has got Josh's back no matter what and if you mess with his boy your gonna get some retaliation at some point to let you know you done F'd up . 

 

In the beginning of the season i couldn't figure out given his production why they picked him up & why Josh spoke so highly of him but now i can see it very clearly, Hollins not only has what some of us call that Bills DNA, he is a total team guy and will be at your side to go to war if need be ! I hope they tie him up for a couple of years or maybe even have him retire as a Bill that wouldn't hurt my feelings at all ...

He exemplifies the "Be you with us" mantra better than anyone else i can think of.  He certainly is being himself.

So Mack's block on Humphrey wasnt really about the Josh hit.

 

A few plays prior to the block, Hollins caught a pass in the middle of the field and headed toward the sidelines. He took a "big" hit from Humphrey as he went out of bounds. One of those hits that happen in the snow/frozen field with bad footing. Probably a little late too. He popped right up, ready to fight, and luckily McD and others were there to pull him away.

 

Then Mack got his revenge a few plays later

Helmet to helmet hits are not, in and of themselves, a penalty. 

 

There's some situations where any head contact is an automatic penalty like a QB in the pocket or a defenseless player (IE a QB that's sliding). 

 

If the player being hit is just a regular runner it can still be a penalty if the defender launches (leaving his feet) and/or leads with the crown of the helmet. 

 

Josh was a regular runner on the play he was hit, and the defender didn't launch or lead with the crown so I think it's a good no-call.

Yeah, it was almost like he tried injuring himself more than Hollins was. You can see Mack pop up after the play and put his hands up like "I wasnt trying to do THAT, and this dude needs medical attention now"

 

Not surprised Humphrey isnt the sharpest tool in the shed.

The coaches and teammates were holding him back for a decent amount of time. He was going off! Love his fire and passion. But he’s gotta keep it a little more under control.
