Van Noy - "I've never seen them (Bills) do this as conservative they played"

Ok. Enough already.  How many times does it need to be said that Brady is being consistent with what he has said since before the season?  Everybody eats.  Brady has shown throughout the season that he will devise games plans and call plays based on the defense in front of him.  The one constant has been a commitment to a mix of pass and run, but there are games where they will be more run oriented and more conservative with the pass game as they were Sunday, and games where they will be more aggressive with the passing game as they did against the Lions earlier this year.  This offense before this past Sunday had I think 10 games in a row scoring over 30 ppg (take out the Pats game with the second stringers).

It is time for fans and media and everyone else to realize this Bills offense is really good.  The O line is really good.  The RBs are really good.  The WRs and TEs are good and both complement the run game and play into the unselfish everybody eats format.  And Josh is other worldly.

When did I ever say the bills offence isn't good? It's top 3 in the NFL.

All I said was they didn't play well against Baltimore and they need to play better against KC. Especially in the 2nd half. I'm not too sure why there's such a panic when there is mild criticism towards the bills, especially when the point is pretty objective .

6 points in the 2nd half, with barely over 100 yards. Is that considered good to you?

Can we, though?  I hope so.  Be nice for Coleman and Cooper to make a play or two or more against KC.

Did you watch the Rams and Lions games?

Good enough.  If the Bills did not call that stupid QB run at the 2 with 3 minutes to play and 9 guys in the box and the Ravens LB calling "QB run" and scored a TD, the second half would have been a complete success.  O made a mistake there, but far fewer than Ravens which was the goal on a frigid night.

So you are saying you think Joe Brady and Josh Allen were satisfied with 6 points and around 110 yards in the 2nd half?

Buffalo's gameplan was logical and their best avenue to win. On a night with cold snowy conditions it favors running the ball as putting the ball in the air means potential for mistakes in that weather. The Bills basically said will take the clock and chances that you will make mistakes and that is what happened while playing super safe themselves. The fact the Ravens didn't do more of that explains why they fell.

Yes it’s a nice 3-headed monster but you’re completely wrong about Cook. The dude welcomes contact and runs through it.

Thats right. Cook is THE MAN. This offense runs through him. What a player to be trusted like that. Undersized. Come on now, he’s our guy 100%! Just little little Cam Lewis on the other side of the ball—he’s my guy too. I freaking love players that are about the team. Cook 100% is my guy in the backfield.

I think if he reads the right player in the RPO then he has hollins running on the LOS wide open.  They didn't even think "oh, i made a mistake" and try to chase him... just wide open.

Listening from the enemy side gives you more insight, especially from a guy like Van Noy who has played in AFC East against the Bills for a long time.

"That was the most coservative Bills team I've played against." He went on saying he does not believe that's because of talent issue.

I remember someone else mentioned no turnovers ,1 sack, 1 penalty, almost no negative plays. Is this the new playoff formula McDermott is subscribing to now? Maybe it explain why no more throwing the ball all over the yard where wide receivers getting little receving action. Does Allen and WRs all buy into it? I guess we will see how it goes.

To me, it felt like we won that game the same way that the Patriots won so many. Conservative, mistake free, and patient. we just let the other team beat itself. It’s good to be able to win a game that way, but we can’t play that way against Kansas City. They aren’t going to beat themselves.

I think they had the same plan against Broncos. And Jets.. and everyone. They have no need at all to “take chances”. If they throw it 10 times deep, it’s because those are the right plays at the time.

The Bills will hand it to Cook with eleven Chris Jones’s on the field. They just don’t give a flip. And I love it. But, they won’t be dumb about it. We got chess players in the boooooth, boys

Now change the word "conservative" with patient and intelligent and read the quote again.

This is a testament to how much McDermott has grown as a coach and how much Josh has progressed as a quarterback.

Take what a defense gives up. Make the smart play. So that enough times in a row and you will win far more than you won't.

I was frustrated with the conservative play-calling during the game as well.

But on looking back, it probably wasn't as significant as we are all making it out to be.

The Bills only had the ball four drives (not counting the kneel down) in the second-half.

- On the first punt/three and out, they threw the ball twice.  Dalton Kincaid dropped one.  The other Allen was almost sacked.

- The second punt, we were moving.  Then the dumb screen to Dawson Knox.  But on replay, it's clear Allen checked into that call.

- Third drive was a field goal.  5 runs, 4 passes.

- Fourth drive we got to the 2 yard line.  Would have probably gone for it and scored in almost any other situation.

We started the half with an 11 point lead, going against one of the most dangerous offenses in the entire NFL.  Much of our success had come on the ground.  It's really hard to blame them for trying to bleed clock with the running game, and make sure the Ravens didn't have enough chances to come back.

The one play I really hated was the 3rd-5 screen to Knox.  But that wasn't on the coaching staff.  That was Allen changing the call to attack a more favorable look.   With the scoreboard the way it was, the Bills never NEEDED to open up the offense.  If the Ravens had gotten that 2 point conversion, you probably would have seen us go into an attack mode, so we could go down in regulation and win the game.

I was always high on Jimbo, but even I never imagined he would become the sort of tough runner he is now.  Just amazing, and the fact we have TyJo and RayRay to spell him and play some 3rd downs/4:00 offense is the icing on the cake.

From what i remember on the knox screen... he had a really nice chance to take that outside.

The conservative offence worries me a bit. It kind of reminds me of the first 6 or so games of the season.

Against KC, going to have to open it up more and put the game in your superstar QBs hands

If it ain't broke don't fix it . With that being said i believe being conservative was part of the over all game plan & i think 🤔 or i should say i hope Brady has those long ball plays in his scheme that he can turn to if needed to open things up if the running game for what ever reason isn't clicking .

The Bills only had a couple of deep shots in that game 1 to Shakir, Hollins, I think there may have been another ? In this weeks game against KC the Bills will need it all to advance and Brady should know that & Josh and company definitely do . So open the gates if needed .

But that was actually what they have done in the past and they couldn't get it done maybe this conservative thing could be what puts them over the top .

Soon we all shall see if that is the magic elixir to getting past the big bad Woof .

GO BILLS !!!!

For sure, all valid points-

I definitely see what Joe Brady was trying to do.

I just disagree with it- As I think trying to sit on a 11 point lead with 30 minutes to go against the number 1 offence, is a dangerous game to play.

You seem to want to be deliberately obtuse.  Youa re assuming the Bills offense will have the same plan this coming Sunday as they did this past Sunday.  This past Sunday it was clear their plan was to be conservative, focus the defense on stopping Henry, and let Lamar and the Ravens make mistakes.  Which they did.  Will that be the same plan against the Chiefs?  No.  Because they aren't the same team and will require a different plan.  Like the plan used earlier this year when we beat them.

I think I commented this on other posts, but it totally felt like the Bills offense was conservative as they took into account the weather and ball security . I feel like they looked at the situation and said no unneccessary risks no 50/50 balls... and work with what they give you. Now... I do feel if they would have tied the game and the Bills needed to drive at 1:33 to score we would have seen Rocky switching to South Paw and they would have opened it up...  just my guess here...  now unless it is like 0 degrees in KC I do see us being much more aggressive there.
