It’s not a conservative offense.  It’s a power ball control offense with quick strike ability and it should scare the crap out of anyone we play.  We can beat you by driving the running game down a team’s throat, but if they load the box we can throw it down the field.  The hard part for opponents is that they know the Bills will score 28-30 points regardless of the quality of the defense.  Therefore to play question is can the opponent’s offense keep up.

Excellent.  Right on the money. They want to beat opponents with the run or the pass - whatever the opponent gives them. They failed a bit against the Ravens - didn't get the passing game going as the running game got stuffed.

It’s Cook. Then it’s Cook with Gilliam. Then it’s Davis. Then it’s Johnson. Then it’s Shakir short. Then it’s Samuel short. Then it’s Shakir middle. Samuel short. Knox. Cooper middle. PAUSE. At this point in the progression the Bills have 40 points because of short fields off turnovers, etc. defensive TDs.

Brady and Allen are just messing with people. Josh Allen has 100% complete control of not just this offense, nor offense in general, but the whole game. This is a lot of fun to see

This was the Patriots 20 year formula.

1st ballot Hof QB

Very good oline

Don't make mistakes, negative plays

Defensive HC

" More games are lost then won"

I give up. How do you lose a game, then win it?

I would've liked to seen Johnson/Davis carrying the ball more against the Ravens. They run through contact a little better than Cook. Cook is more of a run to daylight type of RB. Nice 3 headed monster

Yes it’s a nice 3-headed monster but you’re completely wrong about Cook. The dude welcomes contact and runs through it.

People act like Josh doesn’t make decisions out there.  Like he was a puppet of McD’s momentary wishes.  Mariano talks about how some of the conservative play is on Josh.  Doesn’t mean play-calling should have targeted outside more.

Stop with the have to open it up more, have to get player X involved.  Brady will do and call what he feels works against what the D is doing.  It may be more runs, more deep shots, more throws to RBs.  This approach is working.

Two factors come in to play on what type of offense we run. One is how effective we are running the ball. If we are gaining 5, 6 or more per run, then that’s how we should handle the offensive calls, while mixing in play action, especially on first down to keep defenses on their heels. I know this seems obvious, but some teams just don’t follow this formula. The other is the score of the game itself, any deficit we find ourselves in and how well we are defending the opposing offense. If we are effective in this respect, then the offense will most likely stay conservative. Again this seems obvious but have seen many teams outsmart themselves, like Atlanta and Seattle in their Super Bowl losses.

It was also in the teens with a slick field the other night too, not the kind of conditions where you would want to open up the offense too much unless you needed to.  So long as the Bills were running the ball successfully and the Ravens were giving them gifts, why stop playing close to the vest?

And they still scored 27 points and won the game.  In fact, against two of the best D in the NFL they’ve averaged 29 points in the playoffs.  With a little better play calling against Baltimore they have scored 31.

First team in NFL history to score 30 tds running and passing.  I don’t really see the KC game being very different than the first 2 playoffs games.  I think the biggest difference we’ll see against KC part 2 this season, is an even better rushing attack from the Bills.

The defense looked much more aggressive but offensively outside of that 4th down attempt it was a somewhat conservative game. McD talks a lot about "complementary football" and I think the aggressive defense complemented the conservative offense.

But you have to say good bye to a lot of friends. Buffalo likes to keep friends.

It's great if we keep winning, but man I'd really hate it if we lost playing offense this way. Just feels like they shackle Allen in a big game until they start getting behind.

Would be so great to beat these frauds 51-3 on Sunday by passing all over them.

Exactly.  It worked against Baltimore but they'll have to be more aggressive against KC because KC is KC.

KC isn't as explosive as Baltimore.  They don't run the ball as well as Baltimore. They do not stop the run as well a Baltimore.  All this bodes well for us.

KC doesn't shoot themselves in the foot like Baltimore, however, so this game likely comes down to who makes the critical mistake or which team can pull off the big play.

Seems like we surprised the two best run defenses in a row with how successful we were running the ball on them.  KC is gonna have to find a way to slow it down

they bounced back pretty well the second half of the playoff game last year on defense but I think we’ve improved since then

We ran exceptionally well against KC in our playoff game last year...I think Cook had 100 yards by halftime.

Listening from the enemy side gives you more insight, especially from a guy like Van Noy who has played in AFC East against the Bills for a long time.

"That was the most coservative Bills team I've played against." He went on saying he does not believe that's because of talent issue.

I remember someone else mentioned no turnovers ,1 sack, 1 penalty, almost no negative plays. Is this the new playoff formula McDermott is subscribing to now? Maybe it explain why no more throwing the ball all over the yard where wide receivers getting little receving action. Does Allen and WRs all buy into it? I guess we will see how it goes.

There's something to limiting mistakes, controlling the line of scrimmage, and controlling the clock.

But it only worked to overcome a team like the Ravens bc we were able to get 3 turnovers and do enough Defensively to hold them to 25.

If we want to win the Super Bowl, we can't play that conservatively. It seems that's how he wants to play things until we have no choice. The problem is, if you wait until then - it can be too late. We don't have the kind of weapons on the edges to be put in a one dimensional offense situation, playing from behind.

And it almost feels like a sin to play that style with a thoroughbred like Josh Allen at QB. Here's hoping the Baltimore game plan isn't what he subscribes to against the Chiefs. Bc man - it was frustrating as hell.

Chiefs haven’t scored over 30 all year ,,,

So look to score 31 on Sunday ….

Also …just heard that the last time the Chiefs turned the ball over was against us in November …. yikes !

Bills only have one turnover since then as well I believe. The INT in the first Pats game.

Teams have a combined one turnover in their last 8 games played I think.

And I think you can count the number of times Allen has been sacked on one hand over those 8 games too.
