Another Fan Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Aaron played from the Jets from 1994 to 2001 and was on their AFC Championship team in 98' I think overall would be a solid hire for them...... so they probably won't finalize it then. lol Edited 4 hours ago by Another Fan Quote

machine gun kelly Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) The best thing for this team is Woody, get the heck out, accept the Jeff Bezos off who is worth $237 billion dollars which is probably seconds to only the Walton family in Denver. Then hire Glenn, and give them a good GM to build a team. Johnson, Tepper, and Jerrah are by far the worst owners in the league. Edited 4 hours ago by machine gun kelly 1 Quote

Not quite the same but not all that different. If the HC is not reporting to the GM, which is the structure in Buffalo and, I believe, in most other franchises, then the order does not matter much. There is a tendency for teams to prioritize the coach given the sheer number of open jobs and small number of highly qualified candidates. That’s not to say the Jets will not screw it up. History argues they will. 1 Quote

History argues they will. Pegula specifically tasked his GM with the head coaching search, and McD was hired in January. Something happened between then and the draft that caused Whaley to be fired. Call it kismet that we got an Andy Reid disciple who is great friends with Tomlin, but it happened. The Jets are going through with the same search and from the news that Glenn left without committing it's not a good sign at all, not to mention the GM interview as well. "[Pegula] and I informed Doug this morning that we will be moving in a new direction," Bills co-owner Terry Pegula said in a statement. "We have enjoyed working with Doug. He is a good person and we want to thank him for his work and commitment to our football team. This was my decision. It was not an easy decision but I believe it's the right one for the future of the Buffalo Bills. Our search for a new general manager will begin immediately." "The Bills also dismissed their entire scouting staff a day after the draft, with Terry Pegula announcing the decision during a news conference Sunday. "I don't want to discuss publicly why we made the decision, the factors," Pegula said. "Doug is a good guy. He's a smart man. But we made the decision. And the reasons remain private to us and Doug." https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/19278432/doug-whaley-fired-buffalo-bills-general-manager 1 Quote
Mikie2times Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago He struggled with mobile QB's his entire tenure in Detroit. Good luck playing against Allen twice a year. Also, can't help but find the humor in another DC after Saleh. It's not like he did a bad job in NY. Quote

But we had a GM at the time McD was hired. If both spots are open at the same time, usually the GM position would be filled first. Unless they are looking for a "CEO" type coach (Parcells, Belichick, etc). But not sure Glenn is that. Quote
Gregg Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Just now, Gregg said: New HC of the Jets Adam Schefter on X: "A new coach in New York: Jets are hiring former Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as their new head coach, per sources. The former Jets 1994 first-round pick, who became a personnel scout for the team, now is becoming their head coach. https://t.co/eb3nu7it5C" / X Quote
Generic_Bills_Fan Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Kinda surprised by both the jets wanting him and him wanting the jets lol. Really thought this would fall through. the guy wants to promote mark brunell to probably develop a qb not on the roster yet? Yikes Edited 3 hours ago by Generic_Bills_Fan Quote
