Jets give Lions DC Aaron Glenn a 5 year contract to become HC(per Schefter)

I like Glenn more as a leader than I do as an Xs and Os coach anyway. I never felt his defense in Detroit was particularly schematically advanced. He had (before the injuries) a really talented front and some industrious linebackers who all played really hard for him. He could be a good Head Coach for that reason but the coordinator picks will be big for him. If he is bringing a rookie DC with him I hope for his sake he has an experienced OC lined up.  

 

EDIT: oh and I'm 3/3 in my pin the Head Coach on the donkey predictions.

Underwhelming hire but the top head coaching candidates avoid QB purgatory situations especially when there are issues with ownership.  It’s similar to when Ralph brought in Chan, who did respectably all things considered.

Oh wait.  It’s the NFC.  Where your path could be any combo of Sam Darnold, Jalen Hurts, Dak, Love, Geno, Caleb, Bryce Young, Purdy, Pennix, Murray, Carr, Baker (love em but he’d be the 7th best QB in the AFC.  
 

A rookie is the best QB in the NFC.  And I’m not sold on him just yet.

What's really amazing is that if you think of current QB's in the NFL who will be future HOFers, just about every one is in the AFC.  The only one in the NFC who currently has enough of a career to maybe get in is Stafford.  Meanwhile, in the AFC we have Allen, Mahomes, Jackson, Rodgers, and Burrow with Wilson having a chance from his Seattle days.

I don’t know, I all smacks of back to the future, it reminds me of things Ralph Wilson would do. Ralph brought back Lou Saban, who quit after 1965 season, then he brought Marv back as GM. Saban quit again and Marv knew he was in over his head. It’s not exactly the same, but similar, owners trying to go back to glory days. I think the AFC East has three teams with interfering owners and one doesn’t.

The only thing the Pats* have going for them is Drake Maye. He played well enough to give them some hope, but they have already messed with his development by wasting a year with Mayo and Van Pelt

 

If they were gonna hire Mayo and Vrabel and McDaniels again, they might as well have just stuck with BB. Kraft doesn’t know what he’s doing if not working with people he knows

Glenn was offered the job and it's his if he wants it, but he hasn't officially accepted it yet according to the NYC media.

I’ve got a feeling he ain’t signing…seems kinda like a ‘make the real team I’m interested in more desperate’ move.  Jets might end up with some coach you’d love for them even more still haha

Be interesting to see how the Lions staff rebounds if they lose him and collateral coaches for his new staff. Couple that with what’s already left could be daunting.

 

Probably internal promotions and people they’ve spoken to already.  Had to know this was coming.
