C.Biscuit97 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Everything you read is that he is beloved in Detroit. That defense was dismayed by the end of the season and the Jets have better pieces. Will be interesting to see what direction they go with Qb/ OC. Glenn could be the best culture guy on earth but if they don’t figure out the offense, it won’t matter. interesting that we are shifting from just the hot shot offense guy to defense/ “culture” hires. Gets one year in Arizona with a rookie qb (and they pick another one the next year); gets Carolina to .500 as an interim head coach, and gets fired after being the SB DC for 49ers (and they have a worse defense this year and his replacement gets fired). 7 minutes ago, DrDawkinstein said: I think that is code for "no one else would interview with us" Probably true but “people” really like Glenn. DC types makes me nervous because it’s all about developing a qb so we’ll see who the OC. but all in all, it’s still the Jets. 2 Quote

The ones who succeed in a head coaching role are the ones who understand that you aren't the "doer", you are the one who delegates properly to get things done and then oversees and supports each group that is doing the work, much like a CEO would do and are responsible for decisions related to the direction of the team and many other non-football related items. Most new head coaches are shocked at how much of their job is dealing with non-football related things. I guess. I'm just restating what I heard. I heard that the players essentially thought of him the same way they thought of Dan Campbell, which, Campbell was able to change the culture, so maybe he can as well. Time will tell. Quote
SoTier Posted January 23 Posted January 23 A couple of takes from GMFB today on the Glenn hiring: Akbar: How will Rodgers react to Glenn? Will Rodgers try to undermine Glenn? (My interpretation of this is: that's what Rodgers did to Saleh). Kyle: This move sounds like a rehash of previous coaching changes. It's nice that Parcels endorsed Glenn, but Parcels has been out of football for 15 years and out of coaching for more than 20. This seems like a move to placate disgruntled fans. (My interpretation of this is: sell tix and merchandise). 1 Quote

It’s more about personnel and hiring the right OC. 1 Quote

Wilks was completely shafted for sure. Was used as a scapegoat quite a bit. Probably would be a pretty good defensive coordinator for Buffalo but what do I know. 1 Quote

Honestly, any DC is going to struggle against an elite qb until we get a legit pass rusher instead of washed up Von and his gang of meh DEs. Quote

Strethor Posted Sunday at 01:50 PM Posted Sunday at 01:50 PM Very good hire for them. He will be a good culture builder - but if they don't draft right, they will be in the same shoes they were in 2022 in which they have a great defense but no offense and everything erodes 1 Quote

He wasn’t fired. He said it was him who decided to step away. Beane and McDermott confirmed this. Beane even said Frazier would have still been their DC if he hadn’t chosen to step away. Quote
