without a drought Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I can see Glenn doing a good job on his 2nd head coaching stint. 4 Quote

His team turned over 5 times and still scored 31 points.  You can put the Jameson Williams interception on his play calling, but losing 45-31 isn’t really on the OC. 2 Quote

IMO It should be the opposite.   That's the worst way to do it. That is how you incentivize (force) companies to hire unqualified people, just to get the reward. Instead the league is rewarding the teams who gave the minority candidate a foot in the door, and helped develop them into a HC/GM candidate. It's about expanding your hiring pool, opening doors, and providing opportunity. From there, it's up to the person to earn it himself. BigAl2526 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I don't think the Jets' ownership is terribly patient. The team is a mess right now. Presumably, Aaron Rodgers is gone. He was never the answer anyway. It's not a great draft for QBs this year and the Jets are not in a position to get one of the top two QBs. The free agents aren't going to be much better. The defensive personnel are good, but they are not enough to help the Jets escape the pit of mediocrity. My guess is that Glenn will get a couple years (despite a 5 year contract, during which the Jets will struggle to win 8 or 9 games. The owner will get impatient and Glenn will be gone. It will go that way until somehow the Jets can find a long term answer at QB. I love it. 1 Quote

Gregg Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Tom Pelissero on X: "With the #Jets finalizing their expected deal with Aaron Glenn to be their head coach, the team now plans to proceed to additional second interviews for their GM job, per sources. Lance Newmark was in the building with Glenn on Monday and others remain under consideration." / X Quote

Mister Defense Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Nice!  Really like this move, but any head coach for the Jersey jets is likely to be a good one for the Bills with as dysfunctional an owner and organization as they have.  Now, let us all cross our fingers, and any other body parts we can cross, so soon we can hear the magic words we all should be rooting for: "The Jets have decided to bring back aaron rodgers for the 2025 season."  Fingers, toes, eyes..?..all crossed.  Please let this happen  1 1 Quote
stuvian Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I think he's a good hire and expect their defense to be something to contend with in very short order. Â Was expecting him to take the Saints job given how dysfunctional the Jets are. Â If they hire a compatible GM it would make our division race competitive but expecting the Jets to get Coach and GM right in the same century is asking a lot. Â I will be shocked if Aaron Rodgers is with the team on opening day. I expect hem to sign the likes of Russell Wilson, Derek Carr or Kirk Cousins until they find their next Namath. Quote
Malazan Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago A 1st time defensive head coach with a first time offensive coordinator and no QB.. Â Boy, the Jets sure do love this movie. Quote

That would have helped the defense a bit if he'd stuck with it. Only 14 carriers for Gibbs when he was destroying Washington was the knock on Johnson.  Of course the defensive injuries were the biggest issue for Detroit. No debate there. Their defense just didn't have enough horses left. But I do think Johnson could have helped a bit more by staying with Gibbs somewhat. Quote
