wppete Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago The Patriots are dipping back into the past once again. New England is expected to hire Josh McDaniels as head coach Mike Vrabel's new offensive coordinator, a position he held on two previous occasions, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday. https://www.nfl.com/news/patriots-expected-to-hire-former-assistant-josh-mcdaniels-as-next-offensive-coordinator Quote

As someone who honestly doesn't know, did McDaniels ever succeed anywhere where he didn't have Bill supervising him? Quote

Draconator Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I don't think this is a coach hire. This is an ownership hire. Quote

QLBillsFan Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Seems a bit convenient? I guess I’m underwhelmed with Vrabel and JM 🤷🏻♂️.. Pats glory days. What an apoplectic Mayo hiring firing and the aftermath. Time will tell. 1 Quote

BuffaloBillyG Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago They got rid of Bill and said the Patriot Way didn't work anymore. Then proceeded to hire all ex Patriot players and coaches that were under him. This reminds me of the Buddy Nix GM hire when Ralph was handed a list of potential GMs and hired him reportedly because it was the only name on the list he recognized. Quote
Beck Water Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 3 hours ago, Chicken Boo said: They're putting together a quality staff. For all his faults, McDaniels seemed to be a good OC. Mayyyyyyybe. McDaniels took a young Sam Bradford who had looked promising and won games in his rookie year with Pat Shurmur as his OC, and turned him into a quivering mess who looked as though he totally could not play. 6 TD, 6 INT - in the entire 2011 season. 7-9 and just missed playoffs, to 2-14 and dropping from 26th to 32nd on offense was a big part. Kick McDaniels to the curb, bring in Brian Schottenheimer, and suddenly Bradford looked promising again. Coincidence or not? I think ya gotta keep in mind that outside of his failed stint as a HC in Denver, McDaniels spent the overwhelming majority of his OC career with Tom Brady. In the year he spent as OC in St louis and the 2 years he did not have Brady in NE, he was bad to meh. Did have Mac Jones looking decent though. Quote
